  1. This. Lamar Jackson is never going to get caught up in a passing duel. It's just not his game. A strong wing from the south would tend to be a cross wind at New Era Field. That will make long field goals an adventure even for a usually reliable kicker. That will affect strategy on drives that end in the area of the (opponent's) 30 to 40 yard line. Buffalo will not want Josh chucking the ball deep all afternoon, not that he would anyway. The bottom line is wind will be a factor, but it's not going to be the story of the game unless one of the teams is really stupid in their approach to it. Neither coaching staff is stupid.
  2. Baltimore fired their OC from last year and promoted Greg Roman for the current season. Roman installed a completely different offense. He might pass on a few tips about the defense, having faced them in practice, but the offense would be completely foreign to him
  3. Wasn't it the 2018 QB draft class? In any case, the appropriateness of a draft pick is sometimes dependent on team circumstances. There is no argument about Lamar Jackson being a great draft pick for the Baltimore Ravens. It's not so clear that he would have been a great pick for the Bills. Like everyone else (here at least) I'm very happy with Josh Allen. Clutchpoints can go stuff it.
  4. McCloud as Jackson seems like a no brainer given his background.
  5. That's what I wonder. Rivera began his NFL career as a linebacker, In Buddy Ryan's defense back when Ryan was the DC for Iron Mike Ditka. I'm not sure what kind of defensive scheme he is most comfortable coaching. Ryan's defense was a lot different from the one Sean McDermott has developed from his tutelage under Jim Johnson. However Les Frazier was also on that Chicago team from the mid-80s and he certainly doesn't seem to prefer the Buddy Ryan 46 defense.
  6. The outside runs stuck out to me in the San Francisco game. The 49ers hardly even tried to run inside, but attacked the perimeter a lot. When you look at their interior defensive linemen and their outside linebackers, it's easy to see why. Frank Gore should have another light week.
  7. Thanks. It was my browser.
  8. Yup, that's the same dead end page I always seem to end up at. There is not ballot there, just links to rules, merchandise and tickets.
  9. Hey, if weather.com can give us "future radar" why not?
  10. Has anyone participated in voting for pro bowl players? I tried, and I keep running into a dead end. Voting is supposed to be open until December 12, but when I google it, I end up at a page at NFL.com with links to voting rules, pro bowl merchandise, and pro bowl tickets but no ballot and no links to a ballot. It looks like a dead end.
  11. There are 3 Watts. The third one is Derek Watt, Or DJ Watt in keeping with family tradition, fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers. He's actually the middle brother. Obviously, being on three separate teams, they are not going to be on the same field at the same time.
  12. I'm hoping Rex Ryan will be named Bill Belichick's successor in New England
  13. I think in that ESPN power ranking list, the point was to point out who is on the hot seat from every team whether it be a player, coach, or front office guy. It is not Marcel what's his name's personal ax grinding.
  14. I feel a little bit of that, but I think with his ongoing connection to the team including acting as a guest coach in training camp, he feels like he's part of the success the team is enjoying.
  15. Unfortunately, he's not available this season, but Buffalo could draft Lamar Jackson next April. He is a 6'3" cornerback from (I believe) Nebraska. He would have similar size and athleticism.
  16. It's not a matter of "settling." The Bills are going to go out and play hard for every one of their last four games. Every way you look at it, however, Baltimore is going to be a really tough opponent. I'm not saying Buffalo can't win, but nobody here can guarantee a win and prove they are right. A wild card is essentially a fall back position if Buffalo can't win at least three games, over against New England losing out. I don't know how the tie breakers shake out if Buffalo finishes with the same record as New England other than the head to head tie breaker is no better than a wash for Buffalo if they can take out New England in a rematch. I'm not real confident Buffalo can take the division crown on tiebreakers.
  17. I vote for euchre at the local nursing home. On a serious note, he is looking like he may be done, a piece of burnt toast. I know he'll blame it on the lack of skill talent around him. Edelman is the only dependable receiver he's got any more - with all due respect to N'Keal Harry fans out there. There's some truth to that I suppose, but I think he has lost to Father Time is some significant areas: making quick decisive reads, arm strength and overall athleticism.
  18. San Francisco gained lots of yardage on the ground when they ran outside. They didn't much try to run inside where the Ravens have a pair of short 330-340 lb DTs and a 300 lb defensive end. Baltimore played good, not great defense, but Garappolo completed a high percentage of his passes even though he didn't have a big day yardage wise. Baltimore's Mark Ingram had several solid carries, but San Francisco stuffed him enough that his total yards and YPC were not very impressive. Lamar Jackson had just over 100 yards on the ground. Most of those were outside. A spy on Jackson may work, but gap discipline is of paramount importance, otherwise Mark Ingram is going to get first downs all day long. It was the tight ends who did the most damage receiving for Baltimore. Mark Andrews had 50 yards on 3 receptions and Hayden Hurst chipped in another 21. Jackson only had 30 yards passing that wasn't to his tight ends
  19. If he ends up being the kind of player Aaron Donald is, I'm not too concerned with how many sacks he gets as a rookie. It's nice to see him having an impact though.
  20. It's not that he isn't playing really well, but there is a lot of competition that is getting a lot of publicity nationally. Lamar Jackson and Pat Mahomes are going to be at the top of the heap regardless of what Bills fans can do. Of course, if Buffalo is not in the Super Bowl, the Ravens have a good chance of being the AFC rep. There's also some support for Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson. Then New England fans think Tom Brady should have a permanent reservation should, for some reason their Patriots are denied their rightful place in the Super Bowl. There is a chance he gets in as an alternate. I think alternates used to be chosen by the coaching staff. I don't know if that's still the case.
  21. Baltimore has one older guard who's been one of the best at his position for many years. Their other guard is young and not heralded. Their starting center just went out for the rest of the season, and they will be starting a rookie UDFA the rest of the way. That is probably going to be the weak link of the offense. Their tackles are young and need to continue developing, but they aren't bad. Their starting WRs are rookies: Marquise Brown, the highly drafted smurf speedster from Oklahoma and Miles Boykin, a big athletic guy they drafted in the mid rounds from Notre Dame. Their Running back is Mark Ingram, signed away from the Saints last off season. He's got decent size and is a very tough runner. Of course, Lamar Jackson is a significant part of their running game too. Their starting tight end is big. He gets two or three receptions per game, but I'm guessing his primary benefit to the offense is as a blocker. When Buffalo is on defense, I assume they will need to treat Jackson as a second runner and focus on discipline and gap integrity. If the Bills want to leave Tre White on one guy, the obvious choice is Marquise Brown. They can't, however, leave Levi Wallace one on one with Miles Boykin all game. Boykin will have him for lunch. They'll need to give him some safety help. Baltimore has short, broad interior defensive linemen in their 3-4 system. I'm guessing that running inside will find tough sledding. In the secondary, their two best DBs are Earl Thomas and Marlon Humphrey. It's a tough defense to be sure. I wouldn't try to rely on Frank Gore pounding the ball into the middle of the line. I'm sure Josh Allen can find some room on scrambles and I think Cole Beasley will continue to find opportunities.
  22. The ratings on the Dallas/Buffalo game along with Buffalo's uptrend are going to put the Bills in prime time next season.
  23. This is a relatively weak class though.
  24. That's what I'm thinking. He's a little smaller than Edelman, but just as crafty when it comes to getting open. The Patriots are going to see a much better Bills team when they play in a few weeks than they saw back in September, and the Allen/Beasley connection is a big part of that.
  25. Still a classless thing to do. Also, nothing like giving your opponent the most potent possible piece of bulletin board material
