  1. I imagine he will probably take time to study his opponents going forward, and if they show a tendency to punch the ball out, he'll try to wrap up better. You could see Pittsburgh focusing on the punching though.
  2. That's the Rochester Salvatore. Russ Salvatore is more into steaks and high priced Italian fare.
  3. Green Lightning is right. I don't disagree that he is generally a liability. His one use is as a short yardage back if the opposing team's interior defensive line isn't too stout. Baltimore and Pittsburgh have very stout defensive lines, so many times it looked like he was running into a brick wall. when he's running in heavy traffic, he takes good care of the ball. That said, I think he was a one year band aid for the Bills. I think Buffalo will draft at least one new running back. I wouldn't be surprised to see Yeldon gone and another free agent acquired. SIngletary is a good back, but he needs more help to share the load.
  4. Having been a fan for just under half a century, I've experience tough times before the last 2 decades, and I also experienced the golden years of Kelly and company. It feels great right now, and it also feels real. We're not being teased only to wake up one day to find this was all a sham and the Bills are ready to disappoint again. They actually look like they are set up to have a multi year run of playoff caliber football.
  5. Rummey at the old folks home?
  6. Yup. There are two teams below them that can match 10 wins, but Buffalo owns the first tie breaker on both of them (head to head). I admit though that I haven't looked at how it works if the Titans managed to go on and win the AFC South . Could Houston end up with 10 wins? What would the tiebreaker be there?
  7. I thought Tre White would be good when Buffalo drafted him, but he's better than I expected, by a lot. I'd still like to see a better CB on the other side. Levi Wallace is a smart CB and has had some good games, but he's also been owned a few times, especially by big physical receivers that have some athleticism.
  8. You missed one simple word in my first post: "not" A lost to the Patriots next week is NOT a foregone conclusion.
  9. I thought Buffalo played really close to the vest on offense against Pittsburgh. Daboll appears to want to avoid exposing Allen to a lot of risk in his play calling, knowing his propensity to throw interceptions earlier in the year. I think next year Daboll will open it up a little more. Thinking about the playoffs, I think the Bills might end up playing the winner of the AFC South in the wild card game (assuming New England does not lose out). Whether it is the Titans or the Texans, I don't think the Bills need be afraid of them. No, it won't be a cakewalk, but the Bills have the talent to stay with either team, and stand a good chance of winning. After that, it gets interesting.
  10. A loss to the Patriots is definitely not a foregone conclusion. Buffalo is better now than when they lost a close game back in September. It can be argued that New England is not as good. Josh Allen has been exposed to a lot of tough defenses this season and is growing from that experience. There's no reason to think they are just going to discombobulate in the face of what New England does on defense, and Brady certainly is not the threat that he used to be.
  11. I could not believe the penalty called on Tremaine Edmunds for a facemask. What on earth was the referee thinking? Tremaine's hands were nowhere near the Pittsburgh player's facemask. I hope the league gets a good look at that and calls the official on the carpet for it. Fortunately, the Pittsburgh fumble meant the blown call did not become a factor in the game, but it certainly could have.
  12. Too much rest has sometimes proven to be a disadvantage. You can lose the rhythm that you have developed through the season. Keep your routine. Do what you've been doing all season to keep players healthy. Give veterans their rest days in practice like you have all year.
  13. Hodges got exposed today. Buffalo's secondary made him look like the undrafted rookie that he is. Take that PFF.
  14. The ball is cold?
  15. His latest brush with the law happened about a year ago when he jumped out of a window to try and escape arrest. It didn't work and he was charged with possession (a couple bags of weed on his person). He just copped a plea deal last month - 2 years probation. If he sought out the Bills, Beane might grant him a tryout and interview, but I don't think it would go any further than that, unless he could show in the interview he's not the same person he's been for the last 4 or 5 years at least.
  16. They become free agents, unless they sign futures contracts with the team on whose practice squad they had played.
  17. At 37 there is probably little economic reason for him to keep playing if he does not want to. His reasons for continuing to play would seem to be from among: He loves the game and would play for anybody who wants him. He wants a shot at the playoffs with a serious Super Bowl contender. He feels an attachment to Baltimore and wants to finish his career there. If either of the first two reasons apply he might come to Buffalo if the Bills were to be awarded a waiver claim, though from the outside looking in, one might conclude Buffalo's chances of a deep playoff run look slim. The thing is, if reason #1 does not apply to Suggs, it's just about certain that he'll just retire rather than go to a team he does not want to play for.
  18. I guess Vegas doesn't know everything.
  19. It would be great if Buffalo can get up a couple TDs early. If the score takes running out of consideration, the whole Steelers offense will be a bunch of dead ducks.
  20. When I was growing up in the 50s, the "N word" was not considered derogatory in the lily white community I grew up in. It was who we thought they were. Once you have a chance to broaden your horizons and figure out what labels offend people, you have a responsibility to start using terms that people find acceptable, or you're going to make a lot of enemies.
  21. The rules in place now are appropriate and adequate. Once he takes off to run, he is and should be treated as a running back, unless he gives himself up in a slide, like any other QB. Otherwise, he's fair game
  22. If I'm Brandon Beane, I would go into the draft having spoken to teams drafting behind me, assuming there are any, to see if there are any that might be looking for a QB. If there are, I would tell those teams within five spots of my position that my draft position is for sale at the right price, including, of course their top pick. The only team I wouldn't trade with is the Patriots. I don't know if Belichick is happy with Jarrett Stidham as the heir apparent to Tom Brady. If he isn't, I don't want to be a party to any transaction that might get him a QB he likes more.
  23. An immoral victory is any game won by the Patriots? In a more serious reply, while every game is an event and both players and coaches need to have tunnel vision, focused on the next opponent. At the same time everybody knows the real goal of a team is to make the playoffs, and then keep winning until they can hoist the Lombardi Trophy. From the beginning of the season, every win takes the team closer to it's initial goal of making the playoffs. Every loss is a game you'll have to make up for later in the season, until or unless you run out of chances. Winning the Baltimore game would have put the Bills in the playoffs with 3 weeks left in the season. Of course, everybody should feel a bit disgusted that they weren't able to pull it off, even though the Bills have 3 more chances to get it. In a completely different thought track, the overall health of the team (not talking about the physical health of the players), the close loss to the Ravens should suggest to the coaches, players and fans alike that Buffalo overall is a very good team, a team to be reckoned with by the rest of the league. We are not a team that needs to tank for draft picks or contemplate a complete rebuild. A few changes the next time Buffalo meets the Ravens, or a team of similar quality, and the results could be different. A few improvements here and there should insure that the Bills are among the elite teams of the league in 2020, and maybe the reign of the New England Patriots at the top of the AFC East has reached a dead end. Who would not be encouraged by those thoughts.
  24. I don't think I would change anything. I recognize things are not perfect, but I think a lot of what is wrong will resolve itself over time with Josh Allen's continued development. There are a number of times where Daboll made the right call for a situation and Josh, because of youthful exuberance or nerves or whatever did not execute it the way a seasoned veteran might have. Maybe Daboll, realizing Josh's youth could have called something different, but maybe this is what Josh has to go through to get better. If you never take the training wheels off, your 5 year old is never going to learn to ride a bike.
