  1. That was my immediate reaction. I don't know that Williams is inclined to move into coaching, but if he is, McDermott could make a worse choice.
  2. He was born and raised in Norway to a Nigerian immigrant. He is the definition of an international player.
  3. I don't think the effect of the injury can be quantified, but it had to have an effect. He may well come back and have a better season next year. There have been older defensive ends who have played at a very high level.
  4. I have no love for the Patriots or Brady, but his statement is a pretty accurate description of the culture McDermott is cultivating in Buffalo. I do think it's going to become harder for Belichick (and Brady if he stays) to continue the level of success of the Patriots over the past 2 decades. I hope Buffalo is ready to step in the gap.
  5. The earlier and more detailed a prognostication is, the greater the room for error, but criticism is rather pointless. You put a lot of thought and calculation into the effort, and it is rather interesting. It would be interesting to bump this in May and compare it with what the Bills have actually done to that point.
  6. Beane's strategy could trend in on of two directions. Either, he could acquire a big name player (like Judon - most recently with Baltimore) or he could rely on multiple candidates to compete for Lorax's roster spot, Joseph, a mid level free agent, a sleeper free agent, and maybe an early day three draft pick. I think he'll probably take the latter approach, though I can't say exactly what that will look like.
  7. Mike McCarthy is a good coach, but not a great one. I suspect that eventually Jerry Jones will be disappointed again.
  8. Yeah, I'm optimistic. I thought the Bills would have a chance to make the playoffs this season, but I never thought the odds were high that they would progress very far once they got there (I was hoping for one win in the playoffs). If the Bills make the right moves in the off season and Josh Allen makes another leap in his progress on the learning curve, then this team will be a legitimate challenger to the AFC crown, and have a real shot to get to the Super Bowl.
  9. Of course, no fan has any business saying anything of the sort. However, the Bills have hundreds of thousands of fans. When there are that many fans, there are going to be some that are total idiots. I hope Ford develops some thick skin and learns to ignore the idiots on the fringe.
  10. I didn't say there needs to be a change. The rule is clear and easy to understand, but if the league wants to avoid a situation where a score happens because a player is careless about that particular rule, I could see them changing it for their own peace of mind, necessary or not.
  11. I don't know that there's a lot he can do with that issue in the offseason, but I think when training camp happens next summer, there should be some drill work on it.
  12. I was thinking of the wrong Jordan.
  13. Well, it's obvious he deserves a substantial raise when he signs his next contract. I hope he gives the Bills a bit of a break, given that the Bills believed in him and gave him a chance where Miami was ready to kick him to the curb.
  14. There will either be a rewriting of the rule, or the league will stress to teams that the next time it happens, the kicking team will be awarded a touchdown if the same thing happens. And Buffalo remains screwed over. It other news, the New Orleans Saints got screwed over again by an uncalled pass interference. This time it was Kyle Rudolph's obvious push off that allowed him to make the game winning touchdown.
  15. I thought he was called for a blind side block. Ticky tack - true, but a little different.
  16. It is one thing to put a regular season game behind you in order to focus on next week. A playoff game is a different animal. When it comes time to play next season, the Bills will focus on one game at a time like they did this season, but using a playoff loss to drive your off season work a little harder is not a bad thing.
  17. I doubt it. The City of Buffalo certainly couldn't. What would the Bills sue for? A couple extra first round picks?
  18. Brown has a slightly higher percentage of drops, but more yards per reception. The greater number of receptions for Hopkins may be due to the Texans having more of a passing offense overall. I don't know that stats are telling us anything real significant about Brown versus Hopkins. Hopkins is definitely a more physical receiver and has stronger hands. Brown is faster, but that is not to say Hopkins is slow. Hopkins' body of work says he's elite. You can't say that about Brown.
  19. For the Pats game, I ended up watching it on my phone. I had to download an app for it, the name of which I probably can't mention, but it begins with "y." When I tried to mirror it on my TV, I got a message. "This content is not authorized by the NFL for TV." So, I was stuck with my five inch screen on my phone
  20. I appreciate the contribution. I don't know if it is my computer or the video itself, but the sound quality makes it very hard for me to listen and get anything out of it. I do have a fairly significant hearing impairment, but a lot of videos I can hear just fine.
  21. Ah, retirement. No work commitments, no money. Except this Sunday, I'm preaching for our pastor who is on vacation. The game is early enough that it's not an issue.
  22. I think the Bills have a pretty good shot at winning against Houston. After that I'm not too confident. They would be a prohibitive long shot versus Baltimore or Kansas City.
  23. I said Watson because of the wording of the poll. I think Watson is ahead of Allen in his development, and is the better QB right now.I don't know that Watson has a lot of untapped upside at this point. I don't know what Allen's untapped upside is, but the odds are that it's significant. The problem is, we won't see much, if any of it, on Saturday.
  24. Of the 6 Bills on the injury report thus far this week, two were veterans resting. Houston has 9 on their injury report, including WRs Fuller and Stills, and both starting CBs; Joseph and Roby. Their left tackle, Tunsil, was also on the report, as was one of their starting safeties. All were limited. I imagine most of those guys will play. I wonder how much they could be hampered.
