  1. I'm pretty certain that a RB will be available at #54 who would be regarded as a great value with regards to multiple big boards.
  2. I think Baun will go somewhere between pick 20 and Buffalo at #54. New England has pick 23, I believe. New England has no second round pick. It would be pricey for them to jump ahead of Buffalo in round 2.
  3. I will limit my options to the top four. Of the top 4, I would like to see Miami draft Justin Herbert, unless New England drafts him instead. Herbert struggles with anticipation. He needs to see his receiver open. Some other QBs who have that issue are EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. That would be nice.
  4. Well Jeudy is a more polished route runner, but Lamp is faster, has a higher ceiling and then Jeudy bombed his wonderlic. Conventional wisdom is that the Wonderlic matters more for QBs but NFL route trees can be pretty complex. Corey Coleman was a physically gifted WR four years ago,, who was drafted high. He also bombed his Wonderlic and has since washed out of the league because he could not master the mental demands of the pro game. Jeudy may have a great pro career, but I think wariness of his Wonderlic will cause him to drop a bit.
  5. Here in Rochester, one of the most popular dishes at local restaurants are the "garbage plates." Rochesterians know garbage is highly underrated.
  6. It's going to change from year to year depending on the circumstances of the team. Buffalo had been mediocre for years , prior to the Beane McDermott regime. Under those circumstances, you hope for maybe 3 immediate starters. I would say the average is two starters from your draft. I'm not sure the Bills can get that this season considering the overall strength of the roster and the lack of a first round pick. Beane will tell you that Stephon Diggs is his first round pick. I don't disagree. If that is true, the Bills already have one starter. They might not get another one. It's possible they may get one more starter. If with their second pick they get a player who has dropped unexpectedly at RB, OT, CB or LB, that player might turn out to be a starter. Zach Baun, if he drops, might start in Lorenzo Alexander's spot, but given Alexander often stepped out of the lineup in nickel situations, or moved to the defensive line, his role might be less than a usual starter. If The Bills are lucky and find a real good value at offensive tackle, I could see him starting, and Cody Ford moving inside. If the Bills pick up a running back like Dobbins, I could see him starting and Singletary moving into a complementary role. At cornerback, there is very little consensus about ranking them after the top two. So, if one drops whose skill set fits what McDermott wants him to do, he could end up beating out Levi Wallace/Josh Norman/ EJ Gaines. However, I don't necessarily consider the draft to be a failure if instead of getting a starter, because the veterans play well, the Bills get a strong role player, who might start in the future. For example, Trevon Diggs has great athleticism to play CB, but he's raw, having been a recent switch from WR. You might not want him to start, but he can rotate in on occasion as he gains experience and polishes his technique.
  7. I agree that Feliciano is limited as a starting guard. What he does have, which increases his value is his adequacy at both guard and center. I would not extend him right now. Instead, I would see how things shake out during preseason, if there is a preseason. If Beane stays true to form, some of the excess on the offensive line is going to turn into extra low round draft picks in 2021. That's the time that Beane will have to decide about Feliciano.
  8. Wonderlic isn't the be all end all, even for quarterbacks, but you would be fooling yourself if you thought it was irrelevant.
  9. Chase Young isn't bad for an edge rusher. I also like Laviska Shenault (the name - not so much the player). Deandre Swift is good for a running back. I have my own reasons for liking Michael Divinity. Then there are a couple names that stand out because of players already in the league who had them first: AJ Green and Lamar Jackson, who are both cornerbacks.
  10. He could lift a lot more if he were a full Thor instead of a Hafthor.
  11. As far as the season is concerned, all that needs to happen is for every player to exercise self discipline with social distancing and diligent washing of hands. If Von Miller has been around any teammates, they need to self quarantine. If they do that, this can be nipped in the bud.
  12. "Tom, if you sign with us, you'll have a big athletic tight end like you had for several years in Gronkowski." "Sorry, Tom. We have to get rid of our big athletic tight end because we spent too much money on you." Love it!
  13. Jonathan Taylor and Dobbins are at the top of my list. If they're gone, Cam Akers seems like a good value. If the Bills don't get their RB there, Dillon is next on the list for me.
  14. He may be in the conversation, but that kind of conversation is filled with subjectivity. The Bills are looking for certain qualities in their cornerbacks, which are a little different from what Bill Belichick is looking for because the defense is different. It's not unreasonable that Tre could be the highest paid CB at some point, but that has as much to do with the timing of when his rookie deal is up as it does with the question of him being the best CB. Of one thing you can be sure. If he is the highest paid CB when he signs his deal, that will only last until the next elite CB signs his deal.
  15. The Bills may well not find an immediate starter in this draft. On offensive line I could see them drafting a tackle if they have any doubt that Cody Ford can make a significant improvement in his play or that Daryl Williams can give them an upgrade. Otherwise it's hard to see them drafting offensive line.
  16. Buffalo has decent to good starters at every position. They have good depth at some positions and relatively weak depth at others. I think they have good starters at WR, and possibly a good starter at RB. Everywhere else on offense, I think they have decent starters, but the youth at several spots - QB, RB, TE, and ROT means they could get better at any or all of those spots without changing who the starter is. On defense They have a decent starter at nose, a decent starter with upside at 3 tech, and decent defensive ends at both spots. They have a good to really good middle linebacker, and one very good outside linebacker as well as one newcomer (Klein) who could be pretty good. In the secondary, they have two really good safeties and one really good CB. They also have several candidates to be a decent CB on the other side, and a decent nickel back. There may be a player who drops to the Bills at #54 that can come in and be an upgrade at one of the spots where they are merely decent. He also might be tempted to draft a big nickel since there are a couple guys who could be a decent value at #54. Right tackle is one of those spots, but it is not a sure thing. Other spots are cornerback and outside linebacker (replacing Lorenzo Alexander). There may be no spot where finding an upgraded starter is a sure thing. If Beane thinks one had dropped (some possibilities include Ezra Cleveland at tackle, Zach Baun at LB, or one of a couple different guys at CB, he could pull the trigger. It is at least as likely he won't find a guy he expects will come in and start. If he doesn't, he may try to draft competition, future development and/or depth. If he's drafting for those reasons, The possibilities open wide for a number of positions. He's still not going to draft a QB, and I don't think interior offensive or defensive line is really likely, or a "normal" safety. Virtually anywhere else is fair game.
  17. The first question I have. Does he have more upside than Davis Webb? Webb has some size and a live arm and had some backers when he came out of college. If that has gone away and the Bills have decided he has some flaws that they can't fix, then it makes sense to switch out. Otherwise, aren't there other positions where more depth/competition makes more sense?
  18. I would say that is an uninspired draft for the Bills, but it could be a lot worse.
  19. QB is a no brainer for a non-pick. If Zach Baun is on the board at #54, the Bills could take him, but I don't see another LB the Bills would jump at. I honestly don't see them taking an interior offensive lineman or tight end.
  20. There's not a lot of consensus about where the second tier of CBs are going to go. Diggs goes in round one according to some, and in the third for a few. I've seen some mocks where Minnesota takes him with the pick they got from the Stephon Diggs trade. Most mocks put him somewhere in the late first or second round. There's a slight chance he drops to the Bills, but a better chance he's long gone.
  21. Interior competition/depth. Strong, smart, a leader in the locker room. Limited athleticism makes it hard for him to move laterally. He can play, but he might not be the guy you pull in order to run outside.
  22. TJ Yeldin is something of a mystery. He's got a decent skill set. He's good sized and can catch the ball. He's had years when he's had solid production, and he isn't that old. Yet through most of last season he couldn't buy his way on to the field. He had a few fumbles, I guess. I don't remember. But if McDermott is going to punish him for the fumbles, why is he still around? Brandon Beane is saying nice things about him to boot. It makes you wonder why he's still here. The way he's regarded inside the coaches office will have a lot to do with the Bills' draft plans at running back, but apart from Beane's comments we really don't know. I'm thinking the Bills will draft a RB on day 2, but a value free agent is certainly possible. If the Bills really are done with Yeldin, they could do both. There are some home run hitters in the draft, and some value battering rams in free agency.
  23. On one Bills Live, Greg Cosell, who watches as much film as anybody, suggested that Herbert does not make throws where he needs to anticipate where the receiver will be and that he will be open. He's a QB who needs to see an open receiver before he'll let go of the ball.
  24. He falls to Buffalo in a few mocks. More often than not though, he's taken well before Buffalo pick, sometimes even in round 1.
