  1. Most teams have a dicey situation should their starting QB go down. Barkley has been solid in relief and he's been awful. Fromm is a solid decision maker (except when it comes to his presence on Twitter) who may be a solid game manager, but lacks an NFL skill set in terms of arm strength and athleticism. There's also Davis Webb, who from all accounts has a great football mind and a live arm. It's possible he could show something this preseason that could move him out of the "overlooked" category. I'm not optimistic about what the season would look like if Josh Allen went down early with a season ending injury, but you never know.
  2. And I thought the penalty would be that they had to sign Cam Newton to a one year deal.
  3. Bill Belichick right now is looking for loopholes that might be created by the whole pandemic mess.
  4. I sure would have appreciated a short little article explaining the technology of the thing rather than a video with loud obnoxious music that had virtually no information.
  5. It's true that Ezekiel Elliott is young for a RB entering his fifth season in the NFL and is clearly a top tier RB, but he is taking a lot of hits and has a lot of miles on his 24 year old body. Zack Moss reminds me in some ways of Elliott, but as a rookie, I have to believe he has a few more years left in him than Ezekiel Elliott. I'm anxious to see what he brings to the field, no offense to Elliott.
  6. Yeah, he was a world class gunner. Unblockable as a gunner.
  7. I haven't seen NY's quarantine state list, but I suspect it includes Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California among others. For NFL players, quarantining at home can be a big issue, if you don't have fitness equipment in your home. Two weeks is long enough to mess with your conditioning, and that can be a factor in training camp injuries. I realize that training camp as a quarantine would be imperfect. Players and staff will have traveled from states both on and off the states quarantine list, and some will not have traveled at all, and all will be mingling at camp, but besides that, it could be relatively self contained. The team could contract with a local hotel to provide lodging for team personnel only. Everybody rides the team bus to OBD in the morning. Players get tested daily for a couple weeks. They eat together, meet together, go through workouts and drills together. While there is mingling among them, they would be a completely self contained group.
  8. I think he belongs. If he gets in, I can say I had dinner with a Hall of Famer.
  9. Governor Cuomo says persons coming to NY State from high risk COVID-19 states have to quarantine for 14 days. With Josh Allen practicing in Florida, this is an issue as Florida is one of the states being named. An article in Buffalo Rumblings suggests players might want to start coming to Buffalo now to get their quarantine done before training camp. I wonder if the Bills could negotiate with the state and have the state consider that training camp itself will qualify as a quarantine. The Bills might have to make some housing arrangements other than having players stay in their homes, so they can be kind of an isolated community. Here's the Buffalo Rumblings article: New COVID-19 Quarantine Could Impact Buffalo Bills Training Camp
  10. Having raised four kids, three of my own and one adopted, I can tell you that stereotyping is not valid. The older three had a relatively uneventful teenage years. We never had serious problems. A couple of them did a very small amount of drinking. They did no drugs and did better than average to outstanding in school. The youngest came to us through foster care, and had all kinds of problems that only got worse as she got older. She did everything the older kids didn't. Never finished school and now can't hold a job, moves from place to place and is on the fast track to nowhere.
  11. I don't have any idea what the Pegulas' holdings consist of. I do know that at the current level of oil prices, even conventional drilling costs more than an oil company is likely to make from it. Fracking is much more expensive, so it can't possibly be profitable.
  12. But Adam Gase is the difference making coach who will lead the Jets to the Super Bowl with their young superstar QB, isn't he? Jamal Adams surely would want to stay and be part of the coming glory? LOL
  13. Good question. I agree with GunnerBill. Norman makes the team. I also think Levi Wallace makes the team. He's smart and technically sound. If he doesn't start, it'd be hard to find a better backup. Beyond those two, anybody else is fair game.
  14. A partisan sports "journalist" engaging in wishful thinking. I hope he owns up to his prediction after the season, but I'm not expecting he will.
  15. It's tough to discern between presymptomatic and asymptomatic in the present. If someone has antibodies to COVID-19 and never had symptoms, you can say pretty conclusively he had an asymptomatic case. Otherwise if someone tests positive without symptoms, about the best you can say is they don't have symptoms yet. You have to assume they are shedding virus and are contagious in any case.
  16. It is generally accepted now that having had COVID-19 does give you immunity. The evidence to the contrary seems to fall into categories. 1 - People have had false positive tests after recovering from COVID-19. The medical community generally agrees the test is reacting to inactive pieces of virus RNA floating around the body. 2 - People have had relapses without ever truly recovering. The medical community is suggesting that around 40% of CIVID-19 victims have the disease far longer than than the 2 weeks first thought to be the duration. The symptoms have linger for 90 days and counting for some. Whether they are still contagious or not is in question.
  17. I'm sure NFL teams will test players as they report to camp, and monitor symptoms closely day by day. That may not completely eliminate the risk, but should keep the risk at acceptable levels. Players who have it now should be over it and immune by the time camps start.
  18. Yes. Around the league signing draft picks has been slower this year than last, and a number of teams still are not done. Yay Buffalo!
  19. I think they would start with this year's draft order and create some sort of lottery. They could for instance divide teams into four tiers, and then do a lottery in each group with the worst team in the group having 8 chances to get the best pick in the tier, and the best team only gets one pick. They might not consider it fair to use the resulting draft order for all 7 rounds. In that case, they can rotate the order for each round in round 2, the top picking team from round 1 drops to #8 and every other team in the tier jumps one spot. In round 3, the top picking team from round two in each tier drops to 8th in the tier and so on.
  20. A huge disappointment. The rate negotiations are going between major league baseball and their union, they'll be lucky if they have a 2021 season.
  21. I figure it would be his choice. I personally would not do it in his shoes, but I respect the reasons he might choose to do so.
  22. Maybe "bad rap" infers something about what local media might have said in Minnesota, but even that is a stretch. Dude needs to take some Ex-Lax for his brain constipation.
  23. The Raiders moved to Vegas because big money flows easily there and they can overcharge for game tickets. No surprise.
  24. He disciplined himself to do an article on Beane's career with the Bills and the moves he's made to try and make the team better. He avoided prognosticating and spouting his own opinions. Sometimes journalists need to do that. In this day and age, many have forgotten how. Good job, John.
  25. There's no argument about him being a mid tier QB now. The hope of every Bills fan is that, given his college background and the fact that he came into the league far less prepared for success than most elite QB prospects, he still has plenty of room on his learning curve to improve and all kinds of traits to suggest he will in terms of intelligence, coachability and high end physical ability.
