  1. True. With the Bills on the upswing, underpaid players are going to want big raises in their next contracts, if not renegotiated current deals. At some point that's liable to create cap issues, so it would be nice if Buffalo had some value alternatives.
  2. I think Johnson's ceiling at safety is backup because of his size/speed. Yeah, he may be able to start, but long term you're always going to be wanting a little more than he an give you. Joseph has a higher ceiling but has too show he can do the job mentally. I think Dodson has some upside, but I don't know how much playing time he'll be able to eek out. Tremaine Johnson has MLB nailed down and Milano is a lock at one outside spot. The third linebacker, whoever it ends up being is going to be a part time player given Sean McDermott's fondness for a nickel lineup. The only thing that could change that would be a linebacker who is so athletic and good in coverage that he could play like a safety when called on to fill that role.
  3. Big deal. We knew that when we all cheered at the Jets hiring him. LOL
  4. The Pegulas are smart investors. It's a given that the price of oil is going to go up eventually. It is a matter of how long it will take and what their risk tolerance is. They're getting assets at a great price, but until the price of oil and gas rises, those investments are going to bleed money for a while as they cannot be operated profitably. I don't know how fast that bleed will be or how much the Pegulas are prepared to lose, but if their calculations are on track, they will make their investment back plus a whole lot more.
  5. I hope that Oliver is a little more careful in the future to not even look like he's engaged in suspicious activity.
  6. Edmunds made a ton of tackles, so it may be that the percentage of missed tackles isn't that high. Definitely room for improvement though. Milano, with fewer total tackles and more missed tackles is something that needs to get better. As has been mentioned, the missed tackles by Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips despite limited playing time means their departure is "addition by subtraction" at least in that category, though Phillips was pretty disruptive in the pass rush.
  7. I shop at Wegmans a lot, but you have to be careful. There are a number of things that are a very good value, but there are also lots of things that are marked very high. I would never buy loose cookies from their bakery department, but I buy family packs of ground beef and frozen veggies.
  8. I wouldn't know. I just know I'm not a QT, not anymore, if I ever was.
  9. Yes. Make sure you have control of the ball BEFORE you run over people.
  10. I've played some speed chess, years ago. I'm all for anything that leads to more people playing chess. Then there might actually be somebody to play against.
  11. The Patriots are going to be higher than they should be until it's clear they're going to lose the division. It's up to the Bills to knock them off at the moment. I think Buffalo will rise, and maybe by quite a bit if Allen shows improvement.
  12. I'm 100% in favor of doing it as a charity event. If neither Allen or Mahomes are in the Super Bowl, maybe it could be an event leading up to the pro bowl. Otherwise let the NFL Network figure out the logistics of pulling it off. If Bass wins the kicking competition against Hauschka, maybe we could make it a double header and Bass can challenge some other kicker with a big leg to attempt the longest ever field goal. Or you could add a few more contestants. Matt Stafford reportedly has big time arm strength. I could be lots of fun however it's structured.
  13. I presume this is just the speculation of a guy with relatively credibility. Nothing to waste time or thought on.
  14. Are you advocating for the Washington Goobers.
  15. The Washington Bureaucrats. They never lose, if the outcome doesn't look favorable, they'll just tie things up in red tape.
  16. Yup. That play was doomed to fail. The question is, did Allen have the authorization to audible out of it?
  17. The owner of the Philadelphia Eagles is Jewish, so his comments certainly got the attention of the team. It's not racism per se, but it certainly is prejudice of a kind that can give rise to violence and unrest. Jackson says he's open to rethinking his sentiments. Hopefully he is not just spouting words to save his roster spot, but really is open to looking at the world from a different perspective.
  18. I don't disagree. I think it may be a little early to determine how instinctive McDermott is as a coach, but he does a lot of stuff the right way. It's interesting, when he signed his contract with the Pegulas, there seemed to be some thought that he asked for and received a lot of power/control in the organization. Then when Beane was hired as GM people thought it was all about cronyism, but McDermott has not seemed to abuse his control at all, and Beane and McDermott seem to work very efficiently with each other. It's been great for the team.
  19. Coming out of college, Vosean was seen as somewhat undersized, extremely athletic, but a bit undisciplined in his play. He would make big plays, but he's also find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and allow a big play by the offense. I think the year off to let him mature was not necessarily a bad thing. Hopefully, they can get a good read on his development even though preseason games are in doubt.
  20. Some really good young players give you the impression that they have limited upside, and can't really get all that much better than they are already. I get the opposite impression from Edmunds, that he has massive upside. If he reaches what I think is his true upside, he will have a hall of fame career.
  21. McDermott has spent literally his whole coaching career writing his own personal manual on how to be a head coach, which he updates constantly. He follows it to a "T." Some coaches (Rex Ryan) tend to fly by the seat of their pants. Coaching instinct can be good or bad, but may not be consistent. The consistency that comes from following a methodology can be a very good thing if you've got a tested methodology. McDermott has that.
  22. Rarely can you get equal draft value in a trade involving a high draft pick. I was torn between a first round pick #8 or lower and a second round or later pick. I went with second round or later, but I think it would probably be a second rounder. That doesn't mean I'm disappointed with Allen or don't think he can still develop considerably just my view of the way the trade market works.
  23. I think the team actually takes a step forward if Allen stays the same. I think the offense got better around Allen, and I think the defense improved slightly as well. Naturally, I do hope Allen makes a leap forward, and to be a true contender in the playoffs, he does need to take that next step.
  24. I think Diggs is a high potential addition to the team, but frankly every WR in the NFL who is worth a roster spot is doing the same thing leading up to the start o training camp.
