  1. I took it a second time. A little faster, higher percentage but my average miles off rose a bit. The initial state is crucial. Some states, and not just those around the perimeter are much easier to place than others. Oklahoma was easier to spot than Iowa as an initial state. With Oklahoma you can kind of picture the proper shape of Texas as a guideline for where to drop Oklahoma. The references are not nearly as clear for Iowa.
  2. 92% 5 miles 370 seconds My mouse was being a little balky or I think it would have gone a lot faster.
  3. Third worst? I think that is an improvement from where they've been at least part of the time during Hofher's tenure. I remember them being dead last. I was surptirsed to see they actually have one other season as a 1-A team with 2 wins. I wonder of one of those wins was over a division 2 team. I wouldn't suggest UB's football team is going to become highly regarded any time soon, but just maybe they are starting to become a little more competitive.
  4. I admit it, I'm picking the Patriots. However, I certainly don't think a Bills win is an impossibility.
  5. I just bought two digital still cameras from Tiger Direct.com, but I did a ton of comparison shopping on the internet before I ordered. There are a number of websites that link to estores and do the price comparisons on specific products for you. There are also some sites that rate products. Frankly, unless you know exactly what you want (make and model), I don't know of any shortcut if you want to get the right product from the right dealer at the best possible price. Overstock.com has some stuff at a good price, but it's not always the cheapest for every item they carry, and sometimes if you aren't careful, you can end up buying something that is essentially obsolete. BTW, I ended up buying refurbished digital cameras (Kodak Easyshare CX7830) because I could get a lot more camera for the same price compared with buying new. Refurbished means that someone bought it, took it out of the box, maybe took a few pictures with it and returned it. The refurbisher (often the original manufacturer) looks it over, tests it, makes repairs if needed, makes sure all accessories that are supposed to be present are there, then repackages it for resale. Some comparison shopping websites include: nextag.com, bizrate.com, pricescan.com, msnshopping.com. There is a fair amount of overlap. A lot of products and sellers are rated and often you can read consumer reviews of specific products. You'll also want to decide what kind of digital camcorder you want, that is to what kind of media do you want it to record. Some record to various types of flash memory, some to mini DV tapes, some to DVDs, some to 8mm tapes. Mini DV is probably the most popular format. Amazon.com sells a lot of stuff and mostly at competitive prices. One caution, however, I ordered digital cameras on Amazon.com from a third party source. Amazon's website was screwed up and specified the wrong product. Office Depot (the third party source) received faulty information, basically that I had ordered a different product from the ones I wanted. I caught it before we received it via UPS. Otherwise it would have been a royal pain to try and return the things and get credit for shipping costs. Good luck. It's a jungle out there.
  6. My recollection is that the TV announcers looked at that play several times, and came to the conclusion that Evans bounced the toe of his left foot in bounds, making it a legal catch. Of course, Edwards couldn't challenge because he was out of time outs. I don't know if the radio guys have access to the same replays the TV guys have, but I sure couldn't see any rationale for overturning the play, had the Jets been able to challenge.
  7. Denney was the (ineffective) starter all through the 2003 season. My definition of an established player may be different from yours, MDH. If a guy has been starting for a year, regardless of how bad he is, he is established in my book. I've also been calling Denney a "bust" since the start of his second season, so saying he is "established" doesn't mean I llike him.
  8. I'm probably where Campy is, a blend between the eternal optimist and the TFF. I admit that after the first 4 games of the season I was plum out of optimism though.
  9. The Bills will always be the subject of that kind of speculation because they are a small market team. There's nothing we can do about that. I doubt it's anything more then speculation. No one inside the Bills organization is leaking information saying, "Yeah, we're as good as gone." Things can change of course, but the Bills, at least in reacent years (since the late 80s at least) the Bills have been a consistent moneymaker. Since not every team is, and even Los Angeles teams have lost money when there's been one there, I don't see a move as being imminent. I'm just hoping a strong buyer with local interests buys the team when Ralph is gone.
  10. Obviously , just from the posts on this thread, a lot of things have contributed to Bledsoe's rejuvenation. I think as far as the coaching from Wyche is concerned, maybe he did not teach Bledsoe something he didn't already know, but when a player does not have a dedicated position coach who knows what he's doing (Gilbride as OC didn't put the time in that he should have to keep Bledsoe's fundamentals sharp) he can get sloppy and forget to actually practice the things that are locked up in his head. That's why proffessional golfers and tennis players have personal coaches, someone who watches them to make sure they keep doing the things that make them great.
  11. I think Moorman deserves it but he doesn't have the best stats so he won't get it. I'd be shocked if McGee doesn't get it as a KR. Moulds, Fletcher, and Schobel should get in and Spikes may get in on last year's status though he doesn't have the best stats.
  12. I am well aware of the situation you describe, ICE. I was thinking those thoughts back when Buffalo was losing a couple games they should have won. At this point, I am not thinking playoffs at all, only that if Buffalo can make a strong run inthe second half of the season, it will give me a solid reason to hope for a playoff run in 2005. I'm also interested in making sure that Dallas' first round pick from the Bills is as low as possible, lower than their own. If we can get it down close to the position where Losman was drafted this season, I'll be ecstatic. I'm still encouraged by the emergence of a team identity under Mularkey though. Even with your negativity, you can't take that away from me.
  13. The weather forecast has improved for Sunday at Foxboro. No precip in the forecast and instead of daytime winds above 30 MPH, they are now expected in the mid teens, dropping off at night to under 10. Weather is not going to be a factor.
  14. Let's see, Jim McNally versus what his name. I can't even remember the dufus' name.
  15. It was just a matter of time. Sometimes, because, the team has a certain amount of loyalty to established players are a little slow to make the changes we as fans know are inevitable. I know it seems a little screwy because you wouldn't think fans know more than coaches, but it happens over and over again. A player is ineffective, fans see it but the team is in denial. Then finally they figure it out.
  16. So, Reverendod, are you the Reverend Dodd I know? If so, I didn't know you were a Bills fan.
  17. "Running play that, as always, goes nowhere" Love it!
  18. He may have been duplicitous, insincere, cantankerous, obstructionist etc, but at least you kind of knew what to expect from him. He leaves a vacuum, and there may be a lot of unrest until or unless some leader arises who is willing to distance himself from Hamas and bargain in good faith.
  19. I'm not picking the Bills to win this week, but I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeking from my Bills. Early in the season, it wasn't great opponents who were beating the Bills. It was the Bills who were beating themselves. Regardless of who the opponents are, you can measure some improvement in the reduction of penalties and other mistakes. Yes, some of the other stuff, we've got to measure against a quality opponent, but if Buffalo is cutting down on penalties, there is some reason to believe improvement is being made in every phase of the game. Besides, Buffalo has to play whomever the NFL scheduler puts in front of them. It is the height of idiocy to complain about a win because it was against a lousy team.
  20. Be sure to have a Snickers Bar with you if it happens.
  21. I really hope Buffalo can win it. If ever there was a region that deserved to have it stuffed down their throats, it's eastern Mass. (with apologies to Bills fans living there.)
  22. I'm not counting on it. If we put a string together against the likes of NE, St. Louis, and Seattle, then maybe I'll start to get excited.
  23. I'm crossing my fingers. The last time I locked myself out of my car was about 20 years ago. The old coathanger trick worked on my Chevy Chevette. I'm not so sure I could do it today.
  24. I did not dismiss the idea. I think he needs an off seasonand training campbefore he can be full time on the Oline, butI like that kind of out-of-the-box thinking. It's easier to find a backup DT than a starting guard. He never would be anything more than a backup at DT on a decent line.
  25. If I could find what stocks Wanny has bought, I'd know what companies not to invest in.
