  1. The Monday night game was good for Buffalo in that Pittsburgh needs only win next week to get home field throughout. Plus it puts a huge chink in NE's aura of invincibility. I do think, however, that Miami has been improving, and may be somewhat better than their now 3-11 record indicates.
  2. I agree that Jacksonvilles best chance to lose one of their final three games was at Green Bay, but it isn't over till the fat lady sings. She may be warming up in the back, but she hasn't stepped on stage yet.
  3. Unfortunately, I'm not all that optimistic for a Pittsburgh win next week. Pittsburgh peaked several weeks ago and has just been eeking out wins. They lost to Baltimore earlier in the year and if anythink Baltimore is stronger and Pittsburgh weaker than in the first meeting. The Jets should lose next week. I'm not sure Denver will lose to Tennessee. I agree, the odds don't seem to predict a Houston win next week versus Jacksonville.
  4. While breeds tend to have a certain temperament, I think the individual differences between dogs within a breed need to be recognized, as well as upbringing. Some Pit Bulls, raised in a loving family atmosphere are not the vicious killers the breed has a reputation for being. The longer legged English bulldogs that are the ancestors of today's squat versions were fighters, but most English Bulldogs are pretty good natured. I think the American Bulldog probably has some of the bloodlines of the older English Bulldog, but that doesn't necessarily include temperament. I wouldn't be paranoid about it. I might, if I were you, go to my neighbor, express the fears I had, and ask if he would mind letting his dog get acquainted with your family, including your children, so their dog recognizes you as friends.
  5. She's got to sing better than Rosanne Barr's rendition of the National Anthem. I know it's ancient history, but Nancy Sinatra tried to cash in on her famous name and relationship to dad (Frank) by cutting an album. The single, "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'" but she was so bad the tekkies had to use every trick in the book to get it to sound half way decent. Even then, it's pretty bad. She was tone deaf in addition to having a mousy bland voice.
  6. The Steelers peaked several weeks ago, and lately have been hanging on by the skin of their teeth. I just hope they have enough in the tank to beat the Ravens.
  7. The Bills had the ball when that happened. It was a punt, wasn't it? So it would not have affected the reckoning for Cleveland's offensive output. Maybe since the league awarded Cleveland 9 more yards, Buffalo's defense will take it upon themselves to go out and hold Cincinnati to under 10 yards of total offence.
  8. I hope you at least bet on the spread rather than on the Bengals to win outright. If they did happen to win outright, you'd still win your bet, but if it turns out to be a close game you might end up being able to have your cake and eat it too. I don't gamble at all, but if I did, I would probably avoid betting Bills games. If I were betting on the Bills Bengals game, I would probably bet the over rather than trying to beat the spread.
  9. Stick around here and you could end up loving the Buffalo Bills too!
  10. The truth is out. Rudy = Mixum
  11. The high temperature is going to be an early high as it will be in Buffalo. By game time it's going to be in the upper 20s and heading down.
  12. Cute web page. We have a five year old cat that has never bothered our real tree. Our 11 month old puppy is another story though. He's already broken one glass ball and tried to eat it. He chases the cat around the tree and has knocked some tinsel garland down. Hopefully that will be the extent of it.
  13. I don't think the Bills coaching staff is sold on Lindell. The longest attempt he's had this year was when they called a time out to pull the fake QB sneak that ended up being a pitchback to McGahee for a touichdown. Lindell actually looked very good in making a 48 yarder that didn't count. I don't think they draft a kicker as high as Nugent is likely to go though.
  14. That's pretty cool, though they are not playing positions where they will be lined up against each other all that often. Matt might try to chip his brother once in a while but that would be about it.
  15. A baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. As far as pictures of Jesus looking like white anglo-saxon protestants, yeah, I'd like to see him depicted more as a middle easterner, as long as he didn't look like Yassir Arafat. I think the greatest gift we've given our kids is to begin Christmas Day with the reading of the Christmas story from the gospel of Luke. The best guess I've seen for the timing of Jesus' actual birth is early September. The explanation is quite detailed, but if anyone is curious just PM me and I'll do what I can to explain it.
  16. Actually, I was naturally quite strong in high school. I was always at the top of my gym class in doing pull ups and when I was in eighth grade beat a senior at armwrestling who was starting fullback on the varsity football team. That didn't translate into general athletic prowess though.
  17. I'm content to let it play out in the courts. I know there are frivolous lawsuits out there, but sometimes lawsuits are more than justified. I think my mother should have sued the pants off her doctor who operated on her to repair a hernia, and operated on the wrong side, fixing what didn't need fixing and leaving the hernia. He got run out of town for botching a number of other operations, but mom never sued.
  18. Can you say "quarterback controversy?" I don't know that any team can afford the kind of cap hit San Diego would take if they traded Rivers this offseason. They could afford to trade Brees from a cap perspective, but I don't know how the San Diego fans would like that. He would bring a first round pick, I think. If they keep both, half the fans will probably be upset no matter who is on the field. In San Diego's defense, Drew Brees' play was definitely disappointing before this year. They could not have known for certain that he was going to blossom this season.
  19. It doesn't seem to be as old as it used to be. At least not since I turned 50 a couple years ago.
  20. I have played a little golf. My standing joke was, "I broke 70, then I had to play the back nine."
  21. Never argue with a judge.
  22. I used to play some slow pitch softball. I was a passable first baseman. Our shotstop was the size of an NFL linebacker with a canon for an arm and he was the one usually throwing me the ball. I missed the catch once with the sun directly in my eyes. The ball careened off my glove, hurt my right shoulder, then hit me in the jaw. Yow! I moved and there's no league now that fits my lifestyle. I'm also a good bit older. If there were any tennis players around this small town, I would still be playing tennis. I'm pretty good, with a hard serve (for an amateur) and I can make all the shots.
  23. That's funny. I could have sworn it was a red X.
  24. We don't need to go looking for another tight end now that we have Bradford Banta. Seriously, I wonder how serious Campbells' injury and surgery are. Will he be ready to go in training camp or is he going to need longer to rehab. I don't think Euhus' surgery is quite as serious. I think he'll probably be ready. I do think we'll probably re-sign Neufeld. Peters may be ready to do a little damage next year if they use him at TE instead of tackle.
  25. This is too funny/stupid to take seriously. Can you see if you've got any Bungel buddies who can do a better job of smack?
