Ross Tucker on JP Losman
TigerJ replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did Yogi Berra say that? I thought he said "90% of the game is half mental." Or is it the other way around? -
Can someone tell me something interesting?
TigerJ replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mad Cow disease and Jacob-Creutzfelds disease are caused by a prion, a piece of protein, not even DNA or RNA, so small that scientists don't even classify it as living, yet it reproduces in the body. prions are not destroyed by heat short of incinerating them. I did not know that about George Washington, yet being an aristocrat, it doesn't really surprise me that he was. -
All the discussion is for naught as Syracuse looks elsewhere. I did mention on another thread that I think the natural successor to Gray is linebackers coach, Don Blackmon who is well respected by his players, has ample experience as a position coach, has worked with coaching greats like Bill Belichick and has had a stint as a DC with the Atlanta Falcons under Dan Reeves.

I got each of my daughters Kodak Easy Shot CX7430s. My criteria: They were easy to use. They had enough megapixels to do some modest cropping and enlarging. They are fairly highly rated for picture quality. They have a modest optical zoom (3X). They took SD digital cards which are more reasonably priced than some other forms of flash memory. The battery life is better than with some digital cameras. The price wasn't too bad. I got refurbs for around $160 apiece with shipping. The downside of the Kodak CX series cameras is that they don't have a lot of manual settings that are available to users. My daughters weren't going to be doing a lot of creative stuff with settings, so that wasn't an issue for me. I figured the simpler the better.

I like Sam Wyche more all the time. This teachnique probably made for much more efficient use of time. I find it curious that there are those who have to try to turn this into an anti-Bledsoe thread. We don't know that Losman didn't dose off more than Bledsoe.

I thought you were going to say that Tom Brady got the other vote.

I agree, it would be fun to see the Colts in the Super Bowl. I also think that if there was ever a year that the Super Bowl is going to be anticlimatic, this is it. Of the eight teams left in the playoffs, there are three I would classify as elite, and all three are in the AFC. I'm assuming that Philadelphia without TO is no longer elite. Between the Jets and Steelers, I don't have a lot of feelilng. I expect the Steelers to crush the Jets though.

Cincy looking to trade no.17 overall
TigerJ replied to Losman-McGahee-Evans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am pretty skeptical of the notion that Buffalo could get a first for TH and their second. TH's value dropped a lot this year. He's starting to get the dreaded "injury prone" label, and I think there probably is something to those bad attitude rumors I heard sometime in the last month. -
How do you think the Bills would be doing?
TigerJ replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo would have lost, but I don't think it would have been as one sided. I think Buffalo is a better team than Denver. I think the Bills were not ready mentally for the Steelers. No, I don't think the Bills are a match for the Steelers at full strength, but I don't think the Steelers backups are better than Buffalo's starters. -
Eric Floweers did have a great combine. Darren Howard did not nor does he now have a good 40 time. That was one case where the numbers lied.

Reasons why staff likely to switch to JP
TigerJ replied to jahbonas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree on Bledsoe. He really never appears to be very instinctive, as if he has a feel for the game. Maybe "mechanical" is a word that might describe his approach to playing QB. -
I cant beleive some prefer Drew to Pennington!
TigerJ replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither one would be on my top ten list of preferences for a QB. I have to give Pennington credit though. For a guy with an alleged noodle arm, he threw a 50 yard perfect strike for a TD this evening. -
If they get both of them right tomorrow, they will be batting .500 on the weekend.
-
B. I think Buffalo is better than all four of the teams we saw today.

My wife's cousin is going to be the father of triplets in a few months. We found out on Christmas Eve.

What should we do at QB next year?
TigerJ replied to KurtGodel77's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Losman starts, Bledsoe is outta here. He will not be a backup in Buffalo. -
[SUW]Does this qualify for a Darwin Award?
TigerJ replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
UConn is right. You qualify for a Darwin if the result of your action is that you can no longer reproduce. The notion is that you are contributing to the human race by not producing a generation of idiots. -
WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?
TigerJ replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Granted, some ten year olds are already punks who would think being strip searched was cool. Some, however could really be traumatized by that happening. If my kid was one of the latter, you can bet I would sue. And I would do my best to see that the administrator who authorized it was out of a job. -
I have nothing to add in the way of advice. I did sell several stocks last fall that had had big losses. I'm hoping that by taking those losses now, or at least the first $3000 I can get my daughters a little more financial aid for college. FAFSA forms and financial aid for college is a bigger headache than taxes, and taxes is a big enough headache. Interestingly, I tried to sell one stock and there was no buyer. It is worth about what Global Crossing stock is worth, allthough the company still exists. For now, I decided to hold onto it. If it comes back a bit maybe it'll cut my losses some.

I always thought Margot Kidder was a bad choice for Lois Lane in the earlier movies. I loved Teri Hatcher in the Lois and Clark series though.

If Doanhoe signs him he'll compete. He won't automatically be handed the job whether or not Lindell is released. I don't think Nugent is in Buffalo's future.

The Weather Channel "Babes"
TigerJ replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are several women at CNBC that I think have it all over the Weather Channel girls. Liz Clayman! -
Your symptoms are no doubt caused by a virus. There are a few prescription drugs that demonstrably reduce the severity and duration of a cold or flu. The over the counter stuff (Cold Eze, Zicam etc.) may or may not. I think the jury is still out. Start by heading the the common sense recommendations already made. Drink more fluids, get more rest. I tend to get only the mildest possible symptoms with most colds, so I don't tend to take time off from work, but I do treat symptoms agressively. No it doesn't make the cold go away faster, but I find when you let symptoms go untreated, the inflamation will be worse and take longer to calm down. It's not necessary to take anything for a low grade fever. A low grade fever may actually help your body kill the offending virus. However, with a sore throat, I probably would take a NSAID (non steroidal anti inflamatory drug). Aspirin and ibuprofin fall into that category. I'm cheap so I always get the house brand. You'll pay through the nose for name brands like Advil. It will take down a fever anyway. Don't take Tylenol since that only relieves discomfort and does not calm the inflamation. It works in the brain, not at the site of the problem. Supposedly, there are some real merits to taking honey and lemon juice (the old home remedy). The honey makes the lemon juice tolerable, but it also helps the mixture coat the throat. The acid in the lemon juice is a hostile environment for viruses. The vitamin C in it doesn't hurt either. If you want, you can also use a throat spray like Chloroseptic to deaden pain. It probably doesn't do anything long team but may make it feel better for a while. As the cold progresses, the symptoms will change. I'm assuming it's a cold because with the flu, the symptoms worsen much more rapidly. Think getting sucker punched versus being hit by a truck. For nasal congestion there are two medications to consider. First is an over the counter nasal spray. Get the house brand long lasting spray. The medication is Oxymetazyline or something like that. It's very effective and can be used for a few days. Longer use is not recomended because you can develop a kind of dependency. That is when the medication wears off your nose will get stuffy even when the cold is over. Pseudephedrine HCL is the standard decongestant that is in virtually every product in pill form that says it will clear your nasal congestion. It works pretty well too. Sudafed is the name brand of the straight decongestant, though it is often combined with a bunch of other stuff. One precaution, you should avoid it if you have high blood pressure. If you get a dry cough, take guafenisin. It will loosen it up. If you wake up at night with coughing fits, take dextromethophan. It is an over the counter cough suppressant. I always use a chest rub at night when I get a cold. I think that helps keep everything clearer at night. I have one more advantage when it comes to colds. I take Flonase for chronic allergies (there is something in the air year around that I am allergic to) and a tendency to develop nasal polyps. I think the natural anti-inflamatory properties of Flonase help minimize the nasal symptoms of colds. Unfortunately, it doesn't work quickly enough to be of much use just for colds. You'd be over the cold about the time the Flonase is starting to work.

I personally think that to sign free agents, the Giants are going to have to give an extra premium in their contract offers, for players to be willing to work under Tom Coughlin. Other teams would be more of a threat to sign him than the Giants IMHO.

[SUW]Does this qualify for a Darwin Award?
TigerJ replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So much for the notion that the human race is moving forward.
