You've gotten a lot of advice on training. I don't think I can suggest anything new. How about some advice on cleaning up "accidents." I won't address bowel movements. Unless a dog is sick those are pretty firm and easy to pick up with toilet paper. Urinating on a carpet is a whole 'nother ball game. It's easiest to clean up as soon as it happens. Use some old towels for this that you no longer use for people. You'll also a need a wet/dry vac. Step 1: Fold the towel up into several layers. Put it over the spot and step on it. It will blot up most of the urine. Step 2: Mix a few drops of dish detergent with hot water. I use a 2 liter soda bottle for this. The amount will depend on the size of the accident, which will depend on the size of the puppy. With a small puppy you'll need less than half a bottle. With a 50 lb bruiser you'll probably want the whole thing filled. Pour half the water detergent mix on the spot and scrub briefly. Vacuum it up and repeat. Step 3: Repeat step 2 with plain hot water to rinse. I rinse twice to get all the detergent out. Step 4: Mix 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts hot water to make enough to soak your spot once (about half as much solution as for steps 2 and 3). Pour and vacuum one more time. Step 5: Blot the carpet one more time with a clean dry (old) towel. Step 6: Use the vacuum to fluff the nap of the carpet and let it air dry the rest of the way. This takes most of the urine out of the carpet and does not just try to neutralize the smell. The white vinegar will neutralize the little bit of smell that remains after steps 2 and 3. The vinegar smell disappears when the carpet dries. The biggest problem we have (We have an old dog who has accidents now) is that the carpet is very old and this method cleans the carpet so thoroughly that we have "clean spots" where the carpet is cleaner, brighter and fresher than even commercial cleaning can make it.

I won't do a blow by blow analysis, but here are a few reactions. I think you're probably pretty close on most of the current Bills free agents and what the Bills will do. I'm not real sure on Bledsoe. The word is that the Bills have given Bledsoe an ultimatum, pay cut or cut period. Also, I don't really expect Joe Burns to be a Bill next year. He was always TH's primary backup, but this season saw Shaud Williams move ahead of him. I don't think Burns offers anything on offence that the Bills couldn't get from any minimum salary free agent. I don't think he's so valuable on special teams that it earns him a roster spot. I don't see TD signing five veteran free agents, but your ideas aren't bad. Zeroue would be an upgrade from Burns. I probably would not go in the same direction as you in the draft. Nugent may be a good kicker, but I'm not convinced the Bills can't find a good kicker and pay a lot less. I thought the Bills jumped the gun when they dumped Shayne Graham to pick up Mike Hollis. Graham was just an undrafted rookie, but actually did not kick that badly in the few attempts he had for the Bills. TD got caught up in the hype for having a name kicker. Hollis was average at best, while Shayne Graham has gone on to have a pretty good NFL career. (He was 6-8 for the Bills). Last season he was 27 for 31 and 3 out of 4 from beyond the 50. Once you get past the first couple of rounds the draft is something of a crap shoot anyway. I think I'd rather try and draft someone in the third round who has more of a chance to get on the field and eventually start than David Greene has. I'm not familiar with most of the rest of the names you suggest. Perkins sounds like a good idea. So does more depth on the O-line. I think Roydell Williams would be a throwaway pick in round 7, but most seventh round picks are. I assume Moulds will stay. Evans is a solid #2 now. Dane Looker would be your #3. Sam Aikens hangs on as a #4 and Fast Freddie is your #5. Williams is a training camp casualty.

Fox Sports Reports: Bledsoe Must....
TigerJ replied to AirBledsoe11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Fox story is very plausible. Bledsoe no longer gets an elite salary, but he is due an above average salary next year, and his performance has never been above average for more than an occasional game. He should be paid no more than a very average QB. We've got six weeks to find out the future. Whatever happens will happen before the March 1 roster bonus due date. -
(OT) How do you NOT notice a nail in the brain?
TigerJ replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, if this was due to a nail gun backfiring, I think he has grounds for a lawsuit that would at least pay his medical bills, plaus loss of income and some pain and suffering besides. -
Considering what Drew has been paid and what his production has been on the field, he shoud probably play for a season gratis. Seriously, I think it's perfectly fair for the Bills to make that request of Drew's camp. JI am not generally a big Drew basher, but neither will I refrain from criticism when ther is something to criticize. Frankly, he has not earned a big time salary in Buffalo, and if he stays the Bills need to take some of that money and plow it back into strengthening other positions, like the offensive line.

Hi Steve. Nice to see you here too! I don't think a trade with Miami is out of the question. I wouldn't mind it if it happens. Miami doesn't have a second round pick, however. They would never trade a high first for TH. Their third is early in the round (like all their picks) so it's almost like a second, but I Buffalo wants more, they would have to accept a third and something else, maybe a conditional pick in '06.

I suppose on one hand you could argue that a "gay bomb" or a "halitosis" weapon would be more humane than mustard gas or Sarin. And I further suppose that when a military think tank gets together and talks about weapons, the nature of brainstorming suggests that no idea is too ridiculous, but some things are just too sick to seriously suggest.

Eary predictions for next year.
TigerJ replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My, pessimistic, aren't we! My optimistic outlook is for 10-11 wins next season, but I'll wait a few months to firm that up. -
Bills would have won vs. SD and Pitt
TigerJ replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's possible that if the Bills played the Steelers again, the results would be different, but they had their chance and blew it. I'm not going to worry about what could have been. I did not see the game, but looking at the stats from the game, the Steelers outgained the Jets big time, especially on the ground. They were virtually even through the air. Roethisberger gave up two costly interceptions and a punt return for a TD. Otherwise the game might not have been so close. I think during the regular season it was easier for the Steelers to protect Roethlisberger with a very conservative offence. In this game, he attempted more passes than he normally did during the regular season. It may be that with a little more exposure, the Jets were able to take advantage of some rookie tendencies. -
The year Curtis was drafted, I pegged him as a sleeper because he is very fast. He's also very smart, scored very high in the Wonderlic. He played his college ball in the WAC (Utah?) so he's accustomed to the wide open passing game.

Bwahahahahah!

Sounds like a good choice. He never have the raw physical talent to play in the NFL, but overachievers like that often make good coaches. You can't impart talent, but when you've achieved success because of hard work you have something you can pass on to others.

That's high praise for NC. I hope it translates into consideration for the pro bowl next year. If Buffalo can win a few more games, the number of pro bowl representatives will increase by a good bit.

zero Smoking killed my dad (emphysema). I'm not about to start that. I like to remain in complete control of my brain, so I stay away from alcohol and drugs. -
How important is keeping Travis Henry
TigerJ replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see TH being a difference maker the rest of his career, so I would make the best deal I could with any team regardless of conference or division. -
I didn't mean to imply that anyone affiliated with AlQaida could be trusted. I only report what I heard.

A stop gap free agent tight end may be the answer. I too like Euhus and Campbell. I think when healthy they may be the answer, but I don't think the Bills can count on either of them, or at least not both of them being full speed come September.

King is suing for defamation of character, or something like that. If I were ESPN my defense would be that while he is a character, King has no character to defame. The public perception of a lying cheating slimeball is dead on.

( OT ) For all you relationship guru's out there..
TigerJ replied to SouthTownBills51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From everything you've said, it doesn't sound promising, Southtowns. I too get the impression that this girl is the kind that gets turned on by bad boys. She may realize that and may have tried to escape that tendency, hence she befriended you, but in the end she may not be sufficiently motivated to kick the bad boy habit. If you want to try and stick it out, you can continue to let her know you're interested, but keep it low key and don't pressure her. Ultimately the next move is hers, like it or not. -
I wouldn't trade for him, and I would not offer a rich contract, but if Harrington ends up looking for a job and finds the market is soft, he might accept a contract offer that was pretty reasonable. Only under those circumstances would I consider signing him.

There is at least one radical Muslim group with ties to Al Qaida is involved in Sumatra, having set up a camp for those affected. Radicals have promised not to attack westerners there providing aid. Residents of that province have long been engaged in rebellion against the national Indonesian government. It could be that the Indonesian government is concerned about the safety of US Marines. It is also possible that Indonesia would like to kick the rebels while they're down. They have a history with dealing violently with their own people when they don't cow down to the government. They did so on the Island of Timor just a few years ago.

Pat Williams - Free Agent
TigerJ replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
SupposedlyMarvin Lewis has been given more control and more access to the owner's pocket book than his predecessors have had. I know the proof is in the pudding however. -
He's just gotten divorced. Do you seriously think he's going to be in the market for a thousand dollar camera? BTW, I just checked the site Nanker recommended, and recognized it as one of the sites where I did research. The Kodak CX 7430 is their third ranked point and shoot digital, and the only one of the top three with an optical zoom. It is the 8th ranked 4 megapixel, and cheaper than any ranked ahead of it.

Dunno. Didn't do the research.

Can someone tell me something interesting?
TigerJ replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most of Antarctic receives so little precipitation it would normally be considered a desert. There are two mammals that lay eggs, the spiny anteater and the platypus. The platypus is also the only venomous mammal with spurs on its feet that can inject venom. Scientists have recently identified a group of great apes in Africa that may be a new species or subspecies. It's larger than a chimpanzee, has a skull and nesting habits of a gorilla, but other morphology and diet is more like that of a chimpanzee. The earth is in the early stages of one of it's periodic shifts in magnetic polarity. This will take several thousand years, but as the shift progresses, the poles will begin to weaken, will migrate randomly large distances over short periods of time, and secondary magnetic poles may pop up in random locations around the globe. While not an extinction event like a hit from a large asteroid, the process of a shift in polarity will wreak havoc on navigation communication, and will raise the risk of exposure to damaging ultraviolet radiation. Now for the most useless piece of trivia of all time: The combination to Mr. Wilson's safe in the old Dennis the Menace television series is 18-24-36.
