  1. Calico is big and fast. He had some promising moments as a rookie. I'm assuming he had an early season ending injury last year because he virtually disappeared. Yeah, I'd have some interest. He's much bigger and much faster than Sam Aiken. I'd want to know how healthy he is.
  2. Surprisingly, there was a sighting in 2001 near where I grew up in Salamanca. No, though I spend a fair amount of time in the woods near my home, I never saw or heard any evidence of anything out of the ordinary. The report from the guy in Salamanca sounds like he flunked second grade though.
  3. Sterile or not it's still disgusting.
  4. I heard Rashard Lee was getting the lion's share. In any case, when the starter is missing it does give the understudies a chance to make up ground. I don't even think of Henry as a Bill any more.
  5. Just looking at photos of some of the contestants, I didn't see many who weren't absolutely gorgeous. The problem is that a lot of them are younger than my youngest child.
  6. Heres a link to the official site where you can pick any country and see the representative from that nation. http://www.missuniverse.com/index2.html
  7. I'm not a Buffalonian and never have been so I'm not sure that my response will be helpful or not. I am a life long Western New Yorker. I do expect to move away from WNY when I retire in another dozen years or so. My reasons are as follows: 1. Climate - I'm tired of long winters with lots of snow, dismal and damp late fall weather, and lately springs that suck. 2. NY State government and taxes. 3. Spiritual climate and general attitude of fatalism that hangs like a pall over WNY. I'm not sure where I'll go, but a good candidate is the tri-cities area of NE Tennessee because of: 1. Climate - shorter, milder winters and more sunshine in spring and autumn, while the summers are not brutally hot 2. Housing costs aren't outrageous. I can buy a decent single dwelling for under $100,000 today. Of course that will change in 12 years, but hopefully housing costs will remain reasonable compared with many areas of the country. 3. I have a thing for mountains. The job situation does not personally affect me since I have been employed for the last 26 years. The economy is another story. The northern, rust belt, high tax economy, and horribly inefficient government is so entrenched in NYS, I don't foresee it changing in my lifetime. Obviously you're stuck with the weather, but as far as what the government can do, I think Joel Giambra had the right idea in terms of regionalizing and reducing the size of government. NYS has to revamp medicaid so it doesn't remain the "Mecca" of everyone in the country with no job and no health insurance. Medicaid is killing county government and weighs down on economic development all across western NY.
  8. I was a big Frank Reich fan when he was a Bill, mainly because he was such a high quality person, but I don't think he did anywhere near enough to be considered for the wall of fame.
  9. Someone on another board thought Miss Puerto Rico should have won. I didn't see it myself.
  10. One more prayer coming the way of you and your sister.
  11. I like to read articles like that, but they can have the negative impact of adding to the pressure Losman already has to be feeling, and sets him up for a fall in the eyes of fans that read into it that Losman is a can't fail prospect. If he stumbles, some fans may be on his case that much more quickly because of articles like this.
  12. Does your very involved friend have any idea what Turley weighs now? If he's not a lot closer to 300 than he is to 240 he wouldn't do the Bills any good this fall. There's no way he can put on that much muscle in that short of time.
  13. I could go for that, I suppose, though you'll have to convince the Titans.
  14. I'm not an expert on either treatment or erradication. I seem to be one of the lucky one's in having no apparent sensitivity to it. I fell in a patch of it once wearing only shorts. Never had a reaction. I think I would avoid the bleach tratment if I did have it though. A thorough shower sounds like a great idea followed by generous use of Caladryl, a variation of Calamine lotion that contains the antihistamine diphenhydramine in topical form. Seems like that stands an excellent chance of controlling symptoms. The problem with using Roundup to kill it in your yard is the fact that it will kill everything. You'll have to srat growing your lawn from scratch, That's OK but it's going to take some time. I'd ask an extension agent about control. My guess is that a good broadleaf specific herbicide like you'd find in a Scot's weed and feed lawn product would let you get a leg up on it. It might take more than one application over time, but it could work.
  15. It's simple math. It really wouldn't make any difference to Parrish whether Buffalo had a first round pick or not. With a first round pick Buffalo's rookie cap would be comparable to other teams, but the first round pick would eat up the entire difference.
  16. Obviously the Bills coaching staff, and Jom McNally has said to Tom Donahoe, "We don't think LJ Shelton is a measurable upgrade over what we have. We think you'd be wasting your money." Donahoe has shown he is not unwilling to sign people and spend money if it will upgrade the team.
  17. What agency are you working with, Rubes? We have a church member that has spent a couple weeks there in January on a medical mission. She's a nurse practitioner. She has invited me to join the group next year. I don't know If I can swing it then but maybe in January 2007.
  18. Technically, the Darwin Awards are to go to anyone who is does the human race a favor by removing themselves from the gene pool. Usually the result is their own death, but it's possible for an award winner to remain alive if for example he were to accidently castrate himself. Ususally, honorable mentions go to persons whose stupidity could have gotten them killed, but through no fault of their own they happened to survive. Whether or not the standards have been relaxed a lot of these are still funny.
  19. Inflatable suicide bombers? What'll they think of next?
  20. David's is the only brand I've seen. I get them on occasion, but I could not be described as addicted by any means. I've only eaten plain. I'm in rural Western NY BTW. I'd be happy to experiment if I knew where to get them.
  21. I've noticed before that Buffalo's schedule has them playing a higher than average number of teams coming off byes year after year (the average being one). No only that but is some years the team Buffalo plays after it's bye has been coming off a bye too, thus negating any potential advantage Buffalo might have had.
  22. Are we going to get to the point where the counter is at the very front of the store and virtually everything is behind the counter?
  23. A quick $150 for Westlake coffers?
  24. Who knew the team name was so appropriate?
