  1. I went to the Grand Tetons a few years ago. That's French for "Big. . ." but you know that.
  2. On opening day in 2005, if he were healthy, I'd rather have Pennington. However, Pennington isn't healthy. Moreover, long term, Losman has enough upside I'd rather take a chance with him.
  3. Because I am a pastor, the Nigerian scam emails go something like this: Dear Pastor, Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Barrister Mgbuto Maxwell. I obtained your contact information from a directory of outstanding pastors. I represent Mrs. Faith Mohammed. She was married to General so and so. The government was crooked so he embezzeled $25,000,000 and deposited it in such and such bank in the Netherlands. He was assasinated leaving the money to Mrs. Mohammed. She has given her life to the Lord Jesus Christ (insert much flowery language here) but has learned that she has breast cancer and has only a few months to live. Do not mourn for her as she knows she will go to her eternal home, but she desires that her money go to your church and its ministries. Add contact information here.
  4. What he said. Nothing against Dorenbos as LS. It's just that it's all he does. You're tying up a roster spot for a guy who does one little thing.
  5. So the weather's pretty bad in LA this summer?
  6. I've decided to run for president. After all, I'm for a strong America, renewing the family, and justice. That qualifies me doesn't it? I've decided to keep my campaign low key for now though. I wouldn't want to peak too soon. Vote for me. Put a tiger in America's tank.
  7. I could see maybe a couple changes in the O line in 2006 (assuming this year's line is Gandy-Anderson-Teague-Villarial-Williams). If Peters develops, he could push Gandy out, and if Preston develops, he could push Teague out the door, especially since Teague is a bit pricey.
  8. My one major disappointment in the game was the penalties. Everything else was easily fixable and most of it will come with more reps.
  9. I always thought the advantage of going vanilla in preseason is overrated. By the time you've played a couple games of the regular season, future opponents have all the film on your "normal" schemes that they need. Thus any surprise advantage is good for about two games. One could make the case that practicing your full package in real game conditions (preseason games) is necessary to develop confidence and competence in that full package, and thus it may be well worth tipping off your first couple opponents about your strategy.
  10. I had a "pin job" a few years ago. I had to have therapy because the bone (radius) healed up shorter than it was supposed to and I didn't have enough flexibility in my wrist. I don't think he's have to be away from football that long though. I would guess eight weeks at most. BTW, I have to wear a suit at least some of the time for my job. No one else in the house had any idea how to tie a necktie. I had to learn how to do it with one hand when I had my cast on. I also had to play a keyboard. I couldn't quite swing guitar since it was my left arm in a cast.
  11. I don't believe in self mutilation.
  12. They are two separate issues, but the price we have to pay at the pump is affected by both. If the price of oil goes up (due to increasing demand from competing countries like India and China) the price of gas will go up because gas is made from oil. When demand for gasoline exceeds our nation's capacity to refine it, the price of gas will go up independent of the price of gas. Refining capacity does not affect the price of oil.
  13. Four quarts to a gallon. A gallon of water weighs 8 lbs. or 128 oz. Four liters around 135 oz. or about 5% more than a gallon. Thus for comparison's sake you can drop your price another 19 cents to $3.61 US dollars for gas in Montreal. Still, we have no right to complain if we compare our price to yours.
  14. That will depend on the health of the other TEs. Everett is the most athletic of the TE, but said to be as raw as meat on the hoof. He's missing all of training camp and the Bills would be hard pressed to spoon feed him the offence during the 4 week window they have from the time he can start practicing until they must activate him or put him on IR. They generally don't have time for that stuff during the regular season. I don't think he plays this year unless the Bills are desperate to have a healthy body on the field.
  15. Troy Vincent, Lawyer Milloy, and Sam Adams are the only 30+ players on the defense. London Fletcher is just 30. Troy is backed up by the very promising Rashad Baker, who has playing time and acquitted himself well. Lawyer is backed by Coy Wire who has had trouble transitioning from his college career as a RB and LB. However, he has worked a great deal in the offseason, and there are reports he is much improved. I assume if Adams went down Tim Aderson would start, and pair with Ron Edwards. There would be a drop off with any of those backups, but not so much that any one substitution would jeopardize the whole defense. If all three of those starters went down, yeah, the defense would struggle at that point, but I'm not real worried that it's going to happen.
  16. It's several factors, and Bush has relatively little to do with it. The US has limited refining capacity to go with it's increasing demand. That is partly de to the fact that refineries tend to be big dirty plants that stink up the air and irritate environmentalists. It's hard for oil refiners to get the permits to build a new plant. China's rapidly increasing demand is probably the biggest factor. Then some experts believe we have reached what I believe is called the Humboldt threshhold, the point of peak oil production. From here on out the new oil discoveries that are made will not keep pace with the declining production from existing oil fields. It's simple supply and demand, folks. There's increasing demand, and decreasing supply. The price has to go up until it serves as a deterent to demand. Alternative energy sources and greater efficiency is no longer a luxury. It will become more and more a necessity. Getting production from Iraq would provide some temporary relief, but we're probably better off facing these things now rather than putting it off until there's no oil left at all.
  17. I hope Freeney plays some. I want to see how Gandy fares against him.
  18. I think the baby has dropped.
  19. Unless there is wax in your ear, any water that enters your outside ear will simply run out when you tip your head. Since you're still having symptoms, particularly with your hearing, I would suspect you damaged your eardrum whin you hit the water. I suggest going to the doctor and having it looked at. Eardrums may heal spontaneously over time, but it's no guarantee.
  20. Losman looked shakey at times, but I'm not in the least discouraged. If he looks shakey at the end ot the month I might start getting a little nervous.
  21. I think the goal of the Bills on offence is to be balanced. Balanced doesn't mean vanilla. How much they incorporate trick plays is going to depend on how quickly Losman settles down and gets comfortable. If he struggles with execution they may go to more runs and safer passes.
  22. I pretty much agree. Losman looked like a young QB at times. However, for a first shot this preseason, I didn't expect anything different. He needs to calm down a bit, but he's got four preseason games to get comfortable. At some point things are going to click for him. I thinkpeople who have played the game at a high level talk about how the game seems to slow down for you. As a youngster it seems like you have to make decisions with no time available. That's where Losman is now. As you get more exposure your brain starts to speed up. thought processes happen subconsciously. You get to the point where you don't really know how you know whether to pass or scramble, or which guy you should throw too. You just have a feel for it. That's what Losman has to work toward.
  23. It is typical for the defense to be ahead of the offence early in training camp. That's going to be especially true when the team has a great defense like the Bills. The Bills hare having the defense blitz Losman a lot because that's what opposing teams are going to do to him in the regular season. By having him deal with it now he'll panic less when the bullets are flying for real in September. It's going to make it look like his progress is slow though.
  24. Wasn't he one of the Marx brothers at one time? You know: Groucho, Zeppo, Harpo, Teppo.
