If JP is that fragile, then there wasn't much to ruin. In hindsight, he's not been handled terrifically well though.

I also have mixed feelings. I realize starting Holcomb may lead to a somewhat better chance of winning a few more games of the next several, but I don't think Holcomb is anywhere close to a long term option at QB. I wonder if we aren't just postponing Losman's development and that whenever he starts again he's going to have to go through a painful development. It's obvious he's not a Ben Roethlisberger, but he still could be a Drew Brees. Then again he could be an Akili Smith. You just never know.

Even if TKO can recover medically from his injury and surgery, the only way he can come back from being on IR is for the Bills to reach an injury settlement with him, and then resign him. The problem is the injury settlement essentially makes him a free agent. You don't think there won't be another team out there in the latter part of the season making a playoff run, and willing to offer him a boatload of cash to help them over the top?

Penn State May win one or two more. I'd like to like Penn State, but Paterno has kept the team in the dark ages. They just aren't competitve with the cream of the college teams, and they should be.

I was in Buffalo today (Eastern Hills). Going up Transit Rd from the thruway there are a number of restaurants, mostly chains, but probably not all. There's a Mighty Taco, Picasso's Pizza, a Roadhouse Grill, an Old Country Buffet etc. We pigged out at the Old Country Buffet. Food quality is so-so, but you can always find something edible. The kids can find something they like too.

I think it might be a good trade. I do think it curious that Buffalo would sigh Ezekiel and then trade for Wonborn. I would think that if they were reasonably sure of getting Winborn they would not have bothered signing Ezekiel off the practice squad.

I heard most of the game on radio, since for the third straight week (frustration) I had either a family or job related commitment that would not let me watch most of the game live. I taped it, but couldn't bring myself to watch the tape. I have heard, that teams have been more successful versus Vick when the keep eight men in the box, but then play gap control as you said. The idea is you simply don't let him break containment. Based on last year, you have to say Jerry Gray is a good coordinator, but even good coordinators sometimes make mistakes. Maybe this time it was the scheme.

If the Bills continue to struggle throught the whole season like they have in the last two games, then yes, TD has worn out his welcome as far as the fans are concerned. Whether Ralph Wilson sees it that way or not is another question. Ultimately his opinion is the one hat counts.

If the Bills finish with the worst record, that means Losman is not learning how to be a QB. Drafting Leinart is the obvious choice IMO. However, I don't think the season will go that badly. I do think thatLosman will eventually come around. I hope it's sooner rather than later so something of this season can be salvaged.

Wow, torn ACL, MCL, and PCL at 32 years old. That could be a career ender for Harrison.

It is an achilles injury. I assume there won't be an official determination until he's had tests at a hospital. The fact that he could not put weight on it is bad news.

Atlanta so far does not seem to have anywhere near the defense that Tampa has. They will blitz a lot. Buffalo may need to max protect, but the receivers should be able to get open. Vick may not be as mobile as usual with a sensitive hammy. If Buffalo plays with discipline and clogs the lanes to contain Vick, he's not usually a very effective passer since he doesn't have elite receivers and isn't terribly accurate a lot of the time. I think Buffalo can win this one.

Leinart won't end up in San Fran. Maybe Cleveland, and maybe Arizona. I don't know that Oakland will stay as bad as they've been so far, but I don't know how long they are willing to go with Kerry Collins. He's 33 and almost a Bledsoe clone.

I hope I can see a few games on cable this season, but I don't know if any channels in Adelphia's cable lineup carries them.

I don't drink, but when I did a little, I couldn't stand beer. Wine is better by far. Italians drink plenty of wine BTW. And even if the French was the only other nation that had more wine drinkers than beer, drinking wine rather than beer does not not a pansy make.

I assume that is a statistical power ranking. Undoubtably the author uses some formula that compares the yards gained by the offence with the yards given up by the defense. I assume also that it does not take into account the strength of the opponent. It is interesting to note that the Buccaneers' run defense was every bit as dominating as Buffalo's pass defense. Unfortunately, it would be hard to judge how much of that impressive yards against run figure is due to the Buccaneer defense versus the ineptitude of the Viking running game. Needless to say, the Buccaneers are going to be a tough opponent next week, and Tom Clements might be well advised to have Losman come out passing against the Buccaneers like he did versus the Texans. Let the passing game set up the run.

Agreed! There is almost no time lapse from the moment he decides to make the pass and the moment the ball leaves his hand. He might have the quickest release in the league right now, comparable with Dan Marino in his heyday.
