  1. I don't think there is any possible way for Buffalo to end up with the top overall pick AND a second top five pick. I doubt Buffalo could do better than a second rounder for McGahee. Maybe a late first rounder is possible. What does Buffalo trade to Houston to get the overall pick?
  2. Ngata has been steadily rising up the draft boards. I think Buffalo is likely to pick in the range of 5-7. I don't think Ngata will be considered a reach at all in that area of the draft come April. The one fly in the ointment is the fact that he had knee reconstruction a year and a half ago. It didn't seem to bother him this season though. He's huge. He has defensive end speed, and he is supposedly very smart. He plays hard until the whistle blows and he is said to have something of a mean streak on the field. What's not to like? If he is as fast as advertized at the combine, look for his ranking on draft boards to shoot up.
  3. I probably would lean toward the same strategy that you've used. I wonder about Nande. He sounds like he's going to be a great player, but I wonder if that would in essence leave Buffalo three deep at weak side LB and having to put up with Posey for yet another year at strongside backer. Wouldn't Buffalo be better served by looking for a guy who has more size, who could fend off the tight end blocking on the strong side.
  4. Does Runthedamnball need to put "sarcasm" alert on his post for you to catch it. This was so obviously tongue in cheek that even I caught it.
  5. Jim Kelly - He's not interested Mike Singletary - needs more experience.
  6. Losmn throws a nice deep ball. That's pretty much a given. Can he throw short to mid-range passes. That is the question. Granted he was horrible in the Patriots game (except on long passes). I wondered how much the weather was a factor because I didn't notice that to be a problem before. The Denver game will tell a lot. It may be that Losman needs to learn how to play better in bad weather. If it is the weather, and Losman can't adapt, then the Bills have a serious problem given that this is Buffalo, but I don't want to make that judgement yet.
  7. Vick's style of play makes injury inevitable. I doubt Dungy will consider that in his decision making at all. That's not to say he won't rest Manning. He knows there is some risk and once the Colts have home field wrapped up he may not want to take a chance, but comparing Vick to Manning is apples and oranges.
  8. Gray makes adjustments when they aren't needed. It's only when they are needed that he goes to sleep.
  9. How would Cookie Gilchrist know how to run with the body of a smurf? He's a little before my time, but I understood he was a power type back.
  10. I've checked three other mocks, and Winston goes no lower than 7 in those three. Watson goes higher than 30th in two of them. I think this mock is probably wishful thinking.
  11. Gee, where have we heard this before. Team gets screwed out of a win by the incompetence of officials. They send tape of the plays to the NFL. They say they heard back from the NFL, apologizing for mistakes made, then the NFL denies ever admitting screwups were made. It sounds to me as if the NFL has a unwritten rule that teams cannot make public any league apology for officials' bad calls. To do so brings an automatic denial that any apology was made. It is all about the league maintaining the myth of the reliability of its officials.
  12. On offence I think this team is close to being set for the next several years except for the offensive line. The only skill position where Buffalo has a concern is finding a starter at WR to replace the aging Eric Moulds, who has becopme little more than an expensive version of Wayne Chrebet. If Buffalo can get another year or two out of Christ Villarial, they're not that far off on the line either. Gandy is serviceable at left tackle, and might actually be a pretty good left guard, unlike Mike Williams. Preston may turn out to be Teague's replacement. Thus Buffalo may only need to find one starter in the offseason at either guard or left tackle, depending on hour free agency and the draft falls. It would be great comfort to think Losman can be our starter for the next decade.
  13. They're in denial?
  14. I wouldn't mind if Buffalo sends TD packing, but I don't see that happenning.
  15. That is a tough question. I am not sure if Eric Moulds has anything left in the tank. I don't know how quickly Kevin Everett can pick up the pro game after sitting out his rookie season, and I don't know how much retooling the offensive line is going to take. In the defensive side, Spikes should be back next season, but until he makes it all the way back there is going to be some question about lingering effects. I also don't know if the Bills have both the will and the resources to re-sign Nate Clements. They could conceivably make the playoffs next year if everything that needs to happen happens. JP Losman matures and proves to be a capable starting QB. Willis McGahee's early case of Terrell Owensitis does not get a lot worse. The Bills either keep Moulds and find he only needed some stability at QB to blossom again or they find his replacement in free agency. Kevin Everett turns out to be the next Antonio Gates. Mike Williams suddenly gets a clue at left guard and accepts a renegotiated contract, and the Bills draft some quality depth/competition to present starters. On defense, Buffalo drafts a stud at DT that helps the ends get more pressure on the QB. Spikes comes back and is better than ever. Angelo Crowell proves equally adept at making plays from the strong side position. Rashad Baker takes over at FS and Clements re-signs at a fair price. If all that happens, next year they should win the Super Bowl. Reality is they are probably looking at a couple years.
  16. I agree that it is time to stop yapping about what Jim McNally has done in the past, and hold him accountable for the play of the line that is on the field now. It's not very good.
  17. I didn't watch much of the game. The announcers said in effect that McKinnie has been their best lineman. I did watch enough to catch that. It's really irrelvant though. McKinnie was a me guy coming out of college and made his intentions known that he did not want to be drafted by Buffalo, and was going to be poison in the locker room if he was. This is ancient history. Why aren't we letting it go. There is enough other stuff on the basis of which we can hang Tom Donahoe. Figuratively speaking, of course.
  18. JP could have avoided some of the sacks, but not most of them. The line play was horrendous. Most of that was the middle of the line. Jim McNally has to be called to account for some of that. Teague has to be dumped. It appears Mike Williams was a wasted high draft pick. Ross Tucker, the cheap guard Buffalo dumped to get the more expensive Bennie Anderson, was a better guard than Anderson by far.
  19. I've had a little cider. Non-alcoholic.
  20. If there is one game where Buffalo's depth at CB is not quite as critical, it's this game. The Chargers have Keenan McCardell, who has had a good career, but is in his mid 30s now. The other WR is Eric Parker, on a pace to have about 45 receptions this season, while McCardell may end up with 60 receptions, and neither will reach 1,000 yards. Itis far more critical who will have coverage on Antonio Gates, who is more involved in the offence as a TE than either WR. Fortunately, Angelo Crowell had a big game last week against the other premier TE in the league, Tony Gonzales. With some help from the safeties, I think Buffalo will be OK in that department. The real questin is, can they control LT, at least slow him down a bit?
  21. What round is he slated to go in. My dream for round one is Haloti Ngata, a big, mean, fast, and smart DT from Oregon. I think he is polynesian to answer the obvious question about the ethnicity of his name.
  22. Sorry Rico, You beat me to it.
  23. To answer my own question: This comes from Clumping Platelets, cap expert from the BillsZone. http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showthread.php?t=83035 2006 Salary: $4 million Roster bonus: $3 million Amortized bonus: $3,453,333 "Deion" debit: $360,431 (add all 4) Cap hit: $10,813,764 2007 Salary: $5 million Amortized bonus: $3,453,333 "Deion" credit: ($1,081,293) (add 1st 2 and subtract credit) Cap hit: $7,372,040 By cutting him before June 1 the Bills would have a cap hit of roughly $6.9 million, but save about $3.9 from the $10.8 cap hit from keeping him. By cutting him after June 1 they spread the cap hit for cutting him over 2 years, or about $3.45 million per year.
  24. Cap ramifications. What's left of his bonus that they will have to eat if they do cut him?
  25. I hate to use this medium for a personal message, but I got a TBD email from a Robert Paulson with a dead return address and I don't know what his user name is. I just wanted to let him know I never lived in Lancaster and graduated high school over a decade arlier that the person he thought I might be.
