  1. This is about where I am on the subject. 4-1 through the toughest part of their schedule is a pretty tough start to screw up.
  2. I swear after Buffalo wins the Super Bowl, power rankings will come out the next day putting Buffalo in the lower half of the top ten teams in the league.
  3. It's always a challenge to win that third straight game when you haven't been a consistent winner. Cincinnati, however, is not Denver or Atlanta. If Buffalo plays the way they've shown themselves capable of playing, they should come out of this with a win though. This season has shown us on the other side that every team in the league is capable of losing. Well, I guess Kansas City hasn't shown us that yet, but they will.
  4. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Dawkins struggles some on the right if he ever gets some reps there. LT was is college position, and he's shown he's having some difficulty making the adjustment from left to right. I see no reason why he can't succeed on the right, but it may take him a few games to get in the swing on the right.
  5. Maybe Peter King is misinterpreting his annoyance with his home town team's recent performance with annoyance toward the Bills, a team that could conceivably be in a position to threaten his darling Patriots.
  6. Regarding the fumble call: I know that if the refs see that a QB's arm has starting moving forward, and them he starts to lose control (whether because an opposing player has hit his arm or whatever) it is normally ruled an incomplete pass. I know the ruling in this case was that the hit by Hughes forced Ryan to lose control, then Ryan, trying to salvage something out of the play, attempted to move his arm forward and turn the start of a fumble into an incomplete pass. The ruling was that he never regained control to be able to attempt a pass. Therefore it was a fumble. Whether or not the call was correct depends on what the rules say, and I don't know the rule.
  7. A few close calls went Buffalo's way, true, but that was against two of the five best teams in the NFL. If Buffalo plays as well against lesser teams, they should be able to win comfortably. There are always going to be close calls. Hopefully, a fair share of them will go Buffalo's way, but it is rather pointless to fret ahead of time about something like that which we can't control.
  8. I think this coaching staff is getting about as much as can be gotten out of Tyrod, and he has not been a liability in the three games Buffalo won, but of course Watson is more talented and has a higher ceiling than Tyrod and has played better than Tyrod the last two games. The Bills need to be looking for A QB. That has not changed, This year, there is no reason at this point that the Bills can't break the playoff drought with Tyrod at QB.
  9. I'm all for the right Jones having a great game.
  10. Why can't we find a 24 year old 6'4" WR who runs a 4.3 has great hands and elite route running ability 4 games into the season?
  11. The open roster spot will likely be filled by a short termer, awaiting the end of Powell's or Henderson's suspension.
  12. Flawed and New England sounds wonderful together.
  13. That can be arranged for a price.
  14. Trevor Siemian is no longer undefeated in September. It's nice to be a streak breaker.
  15. I think Miami has always underrated their own Matt Moore. I glad that has continued with the signing of Cutler.
  16. I know some are concerned about the running game faltering. The question is whether it is a problem for the Bills or an issue or opponents disrespecting the Bills' passing ability and overplaying the run. I don't know the answer, but I suspect there is at least a healthy dose of the latter in the last two games. Denver does have what is regarded as a upper echelon defense. Mostly, I'm thrilled with the way the Bills won the game versus Denver. It tells me opponents will not be able to focus on stopping the running game of the Bills. That should make it a little easier to run the ball going forward. If opponents continue to focus on stopping the run, well then there is a good chance Tyrod can make them pay.
  17. O'Leary is well short on athleticism and speed, but just knows how to play the game. He's never going to be a star in the NFL, but there are going to be times that you're awfully glad he's on your team.
  18. Atlanta is going to be a major obstacle. Matt Ryan is playing about as well as any QB in the league and their receivers are elite too.
  19. Yeah, there were some non-calls, particularly on that play.
  20. Good edition of the Rockpile Review, Shaw. I will say, I don't think that McDermott and Beane are opposed to having elitely talented players on the roster. It's just that having a few elite players on a roster that resembles Swiss cheese for all its holes is not going to win you a lot of games. I think Sammy Watkins was traded not so much because he has elite talent as it was because he created roster and cap problems because of his injured foot and potential salary demands after this season. In comparison, I think Beane would say it will be easier for Buffalo to retain Jordan Matthews long term than it would have been to retain Watkins, and right now the Bills' QB situation doesn't really allow the Bills to leverage the presence of elite talent at WR into elite WR production.
  21. Buffalo misses having a healthy Cordy Glenn IMO. If he can come back and get in condition after missing most of training camp and today's game, I think it will do some good things for Shady's game. That will allow Dawkins to get reps on the right side, and that means Jordan Mills could play a little less. That should be a good thing.
  22. Buffalo has been its own worst enemy for longer than I care to remember. The were far from mistake free today, but the trend seems to be that they are doing less to beat themselves than in the past, especially compared to the Rex Ryan era. When you're playing better yourselves, better teams on your schedule don't seem as scary as they did when you were beating yourself half the time. I think Buffalo has a long way to go, but I like the trend. It's not an easy schedule this year, but given that Buffalo just surprised Denver, there is every chance they can surprises some other teams. Minnesota just beat the Buccaneers with a backup QB and Washington is giving Oakland all they can handle, so maybe those two teams are more beatable than they appeared to be at the start of the season.
  23. It's been said repeatedly that zone corners may not need as much athleticism as man coverage corners, but the mental aspect of playing zone is much tougher. Neither Gaines nor White have the athleticism to be great man coverage corners, but they're very smart and have enough athleticism to handle zone responsibilities just fine. White is probably still going to make some mental errors going forward, but he's learning. That's all you can ask of a rookie.
  24. Because Denver was considered to be an upper echelon team going into the game, I think it may provide more than the usual confidence boost. The players have to believe in McDermott at this point, and in themselves, in a way that they have not since early on in the Rex Ryan tenure. That certainly doesn't guarantee future success, but it doesn't hurt.
  25. I certainly did not see this game turning out the way it did. Tyrod at times looked like Tyrod, but there were also times he looked more like an NFL QB than I've seen him look thus far as a Bill.
