If the Bills were to draft Josh Allen, I don't think they would plan at all to start him until at least 2019. I think the free agency period will tell us if he remains a possibility. If the Bills sign a veteran who looks like a starter, he probably will be. If it is for 2 year or longer contract, I don't think Allen will be drafted. If Buffalo drafts a bandaid veteran ( a guy like Josh McCown, I could see them drafting Josh Allen, then letting Peterman and that veteran compete to start in 2018. They probably wouldn't do it in the first round, however. I just don't think Beane is looking for projects that early.

Yeah, that bit of irony was just too good! I'll go with Alex Jones. No, Wait, that's my nephew. Alex Smith.

Beat the Patriots

I could get on board with that.

I don't understand why some posters are so hard on Dunkirk Don. As far as I'm concerned when something is claimed as inside information and can't be corroborated, it doesn't change much of anything. It's out there and it's interesting. I generally reserve believing for religion. I believe In God and I have a certain set of religious beliefs, but the most I can muster for inside information is interest. That's no reason ridicule the source. It could be true, or it might not be. Since it hasn't been corroborated or disproved, what is the point of fighting over it? Eventually it will happen, or not. If it happens, you can feel good that you heard about it before the fact. If it doesn't, it is like so much mist in the wind. It will disappear into nothingness. I'm grateful to Don for sharing it because it gives me something interesting to think about. If it doesn't do that for you, ignore it and go on to something else.

I think Taiwan Jones had somewhat better measurables, but this coaching staff seems to trust Cadet with a lot more touches in games.

I think Roquon Smith and Brad Chubb would necessitate a trade up. The rest may or may not drop to the second half of the first round. Some will, some won't. I agree, McDermott needs speed at LB to make his defense work at peak efficiency. Preston and Lorax don't give that. Milano gives you a bit of it. He's a 6th round steal, but at some point an upgrade from Milano might be possible in an earlier round.

I don't know if any of this is based on hard information, but all of it is reasonable. If a trade is in the works for Cousins, I imagine it would be dependent on Buffalo having worked out on a contingent long term deal with Cousin's agent. Either that, or the trade itself would have to be contingent on the Bills and Cousins agreeing on a new contract. Personally, I'm wary of the cost in draft picks of a trade. I almost like dealing with KC for Alex Smith better because of the cost difference. As far as drafting a QB is concerned, I don't know that I agree that no QB besides Darnold is worth a first. It seems a little premature to me for the Bills to have come to that conclusion. There are QBs I could see them not wanting to draft in round one. I think Josh Allen is a 2-3 year project, and you don't want to invest a first round pick who is going to take that long to pay dividends. I'm still wary of Rosen's football character and Mayfield's off field character. There are QBs worth considering in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Bills do worse in 2nd matchup vs the Patriots
TigerJ replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's never been an Sean McDermott coached Bills team before this year. -
I'm sure the coaching is a major factor in the Rams improvement. I think the other factor is Goff. In retrospect, he probably needed a year to transition out of college and an unconventional offense before he was really ready to play in the NFL. Every QB is different. I personally don't expect that Tyrod will experience a miracle improvement in his QB play no matter who is the coach. He is who he is.

It wouldn't be terrible. I'd be a bit surprised if a trade involved a player swap simply because more trades involve draft choices for players. Of course, Cousins is playing on a franchise tag at the moment, so unless he signs a deal, he is a free agent. He's got to feel ticked off at Washington for the way they've handled him the last couple years instead of giving him a long term deal. Moreover, he has to know he's not in their long term plans. Those truths beg the question, why would he ever sign a long term deal with Washington knowing it's a sign and trade deal? Why not just force their hand? I don't know if they're even allowed to trade a franchised player. The Redskins might just decide it's not worth the risk and the cost of franchising him again.

ESPN: Tom Brady’s Most Dangerous Game
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did not see anything in the article to suggest that Guerero is connected with PED pushing. He sounds a bit like a snake oil peddler. It will be interesting to follow, however. -
It is a given that Cousins is going to be costly. If a trade is involved, we can kiss some of those high draft picks goodbye. Either way Buffalo will end up paying out in the range of 30 million a year for one player.

I hope you're right about Taylor's knee being the cause of his terrible Patriots game.

Jeff Fisher reportedly eyeing Browns HC job
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Poor Browns! Maybe they can eventually beat buffalo's record playoff drought. -
Recipe for a new thread: Take some old news, add a teaspoon of opinion, stir well. Then put it out there like this is some incredible revelation. Anyone who has been following the playoff chase for the Bills pretty much knows that should the Bills win the last two games, the odds of being a wild card team shoot up to 90% or better. Conversely, if the Bills lose the last 2 games the odds of making the playoffs drops to under 10%. Ah, but win one more game makes it tricky. Yes, the Chargers are the key. Baltimore is in all likelihood going to win their last two, which puts them in. It's also pretty certain that Tennessee has a pair of losses in their immediate future. Having beaten the Chargers, the Chiefs have to be favored to win their division. That leaves the Chargers at 7-7 with 2 winnable games remaining and owning the tiebreaker over Buffalo. Yeah, there might be another more exotic way to sneak in to the playoffs, but the best odds have to do with the Chargers losing one of those last two games. Next Sunday is their Jets game and the Jets are at home. The following Sunday, the Chargers host the Raiders. That means the best odds for a Chargers loss comes at the hands of the Jets. I'm with you there, OP. The fly in the ointment is the fact that Todd Bowles has apparently decided to give Bryce Petty a three game audition to see if he might be the Jets starter next year. Petty did a couple of nice things in the last game, but at this point, Josh McCown is clearly the better QB, and he will be riding the pine. I would love to see the Jets win, and the Bills beat the Patriots for that matter, but the odds favor Buffalo having to wait it out and bite their nails as we await week 17

Webb will be active. He's a core special teamer. Buffalo can design packages that include Webb in some sort of read option or gadget play without benching Peterman. It's not a question of "either/or."

This. Gronk is so big and strong anyway that it would be tough to hurt him.

Anyone else think we should use oleary more?
TigerJ replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most of Buffalo's receiving options are under utilized. BTW, O'Leary is supposed to be a decent blocker and not the liability in the run game that many tight ends are. (Clay is also a good blocker. Neither TE has the hulking size that you usually associate with a blocking TE, but their technique is good and they are willing to do it. -

Thoughts on Garrett Gilbert in off-season?
TigerJ replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, I don't have any thoughts on Garrett Gilbert. Ironically, his father was a back up QB for the Bills back in the day. -
Do we make the upset in Foxboro?
TigerJ replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both have to or there won't be an upset. -
He is now out of concussion protocol. I imagine there are no plans to start him versus the Patriots, but he'll probably be the back up.

Good chance of it. We'll see the injury reports in a couple days. I expect Burkhead will be on it.
