  1. I think Roquon Smith will be gone before pick #21. If the Bills want him, they'll need to trade up. McDermott wants speed at MLB like he had at Carolina. The combine and pro days will be important for the Bills. Yes, performance on the field is most important, but if you've got two productive and instinctive linebackers on the board, McDermott is going to want the faster guy. Buffalo needs to get a veteran QB if they can, and draft one too. If they can trade Tyrod, great. I don't know if Peterman will develop or not. Right now it looks to me as if he doesn't respect the skills of NFL defensive backs enough, and tries to throw into windows that are too small sometimes. I think that can probagbly be corrected with coaching, but I don't know.
  2. That pretty well sums up how I feel. The main thing that McDermott accomplished this year was the fact that the Bills played with a lot more discipline than I've seen from a Bills team in years. In that respect, they have looked a lot like the Patriots. Buffalo needs to add some talent in a few spots: QB, WR, LB and DL and retain a few key free agents and I think we'll be looking at more successful playoff runs in the future.
  3. I was just thinking Sexy Rexy. LOL I'd be OK with it, actually, as long as the Bills aren't playing on MNF. I have doubts about Rex's ability to be impartial.
  4. Someone please let Dunkirk Don know so he can claim he predicted it correctly. ( He did in the first of his two predictions on the subject.)
  5. Nope. Too conservative for my taste.
  6. Both Bortles and Tyrod are Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde type QBs. Get pressure on Bortles and he throws interceptions. Get contain on Tyrod and he'll not throw the ball more than 150 yards in a game. Both teams run the ball pretty well, neither team has been especially proficient at stopping the run. Both teams are shy of weapons in the passing game (Jacksonville because of injury and Buffalo because of roster decisions and injury) . Jacksonville is favored, and should be, but the outcome of the game is by no means a given. Should be fun! Welcome.
  7. Jim Kelly. There may be better players among former Bills players, in fact, I'm certain there are, but nosingle player at a different position could make the kind of difference that Kelly in his prime could.
  8. Well, the OP is right about one thing. If Nathan Peterman had been Buffalo's starter at QB, Buffalo most likely would not have won enough games to get in the playoffs. As far as the teams decisions regarding QB and Tyrod specifically moving forward, that proves exactly nothing. I have said for a while now that I think Tyrod is good enough to make the playoffs with a good supporting cast around him. I don't think he's good enough to lead a team on a deep playoff run, and I don't think he particularly makes the players around him better. It's possible Buffalo will beat Jacksonville tomorrow, but if they do that and go on to beat New England the following week, I'll be happy to eat a generous portion of crow.
  9. I'd like to see the Bills re-sign Gaines. The price, however, is going to go way up. Even though it's preferable to keep a player who is a known quantity, it's always possible the Bills could find another player, either in the draft or free agency who is the equal of Gaines or even better. GMs always have to keep sight of the big picture when making personnel decisions and avoid player myopia (focussing in on a single player as a "must have").
  10. sometimes you find a superstar running back in the first round, but more than any other position, teams have found great running backs in later rounds and in the undrafted ranks. Heck, Buffalo picked up Cadett by dumpster diving, and he looked like a winner. Then last Sunday they played a practice squad running back (for most of the year) when McCoy went down, and he averaged nearly 6 yards per carry. I wouldn't say you never draft a running back early, but if you have any other holes on a team, you want to address those first.
  11. Does that mean Corona will have to hire a new spokesperson to do their beer commercials?
  12. Great news if true. The Bills wouldn't let Shady even come close to team drills if his ankle wasn't in good shape or presented any risk of re-injury from practice.
  13. That logic does not follow. Your logic suggests Vivid Seats has and uses the total number of seats sold in its calculations, but then you shift to suggest that Vivid Seat's 20% for the number of tickets sold from NY zip codes represents only those sold by Vivid Seats. If Vivid Seats has been selling 20% of its available seats to New Yorkers, there is no reason to suggest a similar ratio wouldn't be experienced by other ticket resellers.
  14. Yeah. He started out the season like a house afire, but since Thanksgiving has slowed down a lot. His backup - TJ Yeldon is dealing with an injury. Those are both plusses for the Bills' defense. The Jags did improve when they acquired Dareus. They are tougher to run inside against now. That will change Buffalo's strategy.
  15. I think the bottom line is it is not a terrible injury, but there is no position where playing is going to be harder on your ankles, and no running back who depends more on the ability to make hard cuts, which is the thing that's is going to be tough on the ankle. If McCoy were an offensive lineman, he'd be starting Sunday, no question. Being who he is, I don't think there was ever a thought at OBD that it would be anything but a true game time decision. I wouldn't be shocked if Buffalo activates Aaron Green, just to have him available. If Shady is active for the game, I don't think he's going to get anywhere near his usual # or carries. Murphy is going to get most of the carries and Tolbert will get some too. (hopefully not in 3rd and 10 plays with a sweep being called).
  16. The url suggests it if someone feeling disgruntled about the fact that Buffalo beat up on his beloved Broncos this season.
  17. The standard compliment of running backs on a 53 man roster is 2 or 3. New England seems to like more. Buffalo started the season with 3. I know Tolbert has limitations as well as anybody else, but he proved last Sunday that there is a role he can play. Taiwan Jones didn't get a lot of touches, but was effective when he did run the ball. Cadett was also effective. Now Murphy has shown he can do a good job. That's 5 running backs who have been on the roster at one time or another during the season, not counting fullback Patrick DiMarco. Now, of course, the Bills have added Aaron Green to the PS. When you have a swarm of injuries at one position, it's going to make you look thin, but I don't think the Bills have been neglectful toward the position, and the fact that Buffalo ran the ball effectively against Miami after Shady went out supports the notion that the Bills had made decent decisions at running back. The games where Buffalo did not run the ball effectively don't appear to have been caused by a lack of depth - rather, it appears to have been occasional missuse of Tolbert (running him outside) and blocking issues on the line.
  18. Yes, the Bills would have to pay a 6 mil bonus. I'm not completely writing that off as a possibility. Everybody in the NFL has to overpay to one degree or another for a QB. Buffalo will not arbitrarily pay out the bonus, but Beane will certainly be in conversation with other QB needy teams to ascertain what the market is for Tyrod's services. I don't know what that market is. No fan does. If there is any possibility of a trade, it will all be arranged prior to the due date for that bonus payment.
  19. Your first mistake was taking posters here seriously. Your second mistake was assuming they know what they're talking about.
  20. If memory serves, the punt catcher was Chris Watson.
  21. Our safety tandem should be referred to as Dr. Poyer and Mr. Hyde. I don't mean anything derogatory by that. I just think it's catchy and would garner them some national attention. I'd like the Bills to try and sign Gaines, but his asking price has gone up this season. Another negative is the frequency with which he seems to get nicked up. If you re-sign Gaines, you still need to try and upgrade or CB depth to guard against injury.
  22. Fournette's health is a major key. When healthy he's been tough to stop. He's been nicked up lately. When he's healthy, Bortles is under a lot less pressure to make plays. If Bortles feels the pressure, that's when turnovers start to happen. When the Bills are on offense, they key is pressure on Taylor. The Jaguars generate a lot of it, and Tyrod holds on to the ball longer than any other QB in the league. He's either got to make quicker reads or the offensive line will need to do a better job than usual protecting him.
  23. He looks to be more of a north - south runner than Shady, but he still has good vision and the ability to make defenders look silly with a good cut.
