Granted, New England racked up plenty of points and a record setting number of yards, but I wouldn't say Schwartz's defense was useless. Nobody is going to shut Brady down in the Super Bowl, but Philly got a couple of key stops today. New England could have hung a lot more points on some defenses than they did Philly's. I'm just lad Philly won. Even apart from the fact that all Bills fans hate Bellichick, Brad, and New England, I'm glad for Philly. They are a much more likable team than New England.

Sammy isn't ruling it out, so I guess we shouldn't either. Being possible doesn't mean it's anywhere close to likely, however.

I'm not sure what Cousins is going to cost, but I'm pretty sure it will be a lot. Foles is an interesting possibility to me. I'm not sure he'll be available, but I'm not going to write him off yet. Apparently, Phillie has a young QB prospect in Nate Sudfeld whose upside they really like. The question is will he be ready to be the back up next year. Only the Eagles can make that determination. Obviously, a lot of things need to happen for Foles to end up in Buffalo, but it's too soon to rule it out.

Chiefs trade Alex Smith to washington

If it''s a sign and trade deal, Washington will want two quarts of Pegula's blood, fresh and warm. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The GM's QB Decision Tree
TigerJ replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My only addition, Shaw, is that I think the Bills (or any team looking for "the guy" at QB needs to go into the search process with layers of contingencies, not just one contingency plan. One poster asked, "What's plan C?" There needs to be a plan B, C, and D, and maybe an E, F, and G. -
Tanner Lee is a dark horse QB to keep an eye on

But after Rudolph got hurt, that invitation went to Tanner lee rather than another one of the hundred or so QBs that might have been eligible for the senior bowl. -
Tanner Lee is a dark horse QB to keep an eye on

I couldn't watch the Senior Bowl. My wife was watching a Hallmark movie on the oly TV with a cable box. I can read game summaries. They did not sound encouraging. However, Lee got a Senior Bowl invite for a reason. Somebody thinks he's got NFL upside. There are so many variables in the draft, I couldn't begin to try and predict what will actually happen. The best mock drafters might get a handful of first round predictions right. After that it's a total crap shoot. Tanner Lee might be the last QB Buffalo would want to take in the draft, but I'll guarantee they are aware of him, and have a scenario in mind where picking him makes sense. Do I think it's going to happen? No. But nothing shocks me about the draft. -
I do think there is at least something to this. Outside of New England I don't think fans are especially enamored with curmudgeon Bill Belichick, and a number of things have chipped away at Brady's image over the last few years. He kind of comes across as elitist in a lot of ways with his trophy wife and unorthodox training philosophy, and I think a lot of fans would just like to see him disappear. But then, maybe that's just me as a Bills fan thinking that.

Dennison to the NYJ as OL Coach and Run Game Coordinator

You didn't put "development" in quotes? At least Buffalo should stay ahead of the Jets in the AFC East. -
I think the Bills probably realize they aren't going to get a sniff of Darnold, and I don't think they are crazy about Rosen (who is also going to be drafted too high for Buffalo to consider. Josh Allen is a long shot but maybe not quite as long as Darnold. Among more realistic possibilities, Buffalo will be looking and a veteran who is capable of starting: Alex Smith, Nick Foles, or maybe a Vikings cast off. Depending on who it is, the Bills could outright name him as starter or set up a competition in training camp with Nate Peterman. If the Bills are not able to sign a veteran that they feel can at least compete to start, they will probably be down to a decision to either plan on starting Peterman or paying Tyrod his bonus. At the same time, I think Buffalo is going to draft a QB somewhere in the draft. I think Buffalo probably sees retaining Tyrod as a near desperation move, but any GM worth his pay has to anticipate every possible circumstance, and have a contingency plan ready for it.

The college QB who comes from a pro type offense where the QB is expected to run through a series of checkdowns if receivers aren't open is an exception these days. Teams have to make some educated guesses in many cases about whether or not a particular QB can transition to the NFL. Sometimes they hit it, sometimes not.
-
Are you adding a good speed receiver in free agency? Who might that be?
-
The new team absorbs the cap implications of salary, but not bonus money. The old team has to count any future ramifications of an amortized bonus. If cut or traded prior to June 1, the whole wad counts in that year. If released or traded after June 1, it can be spread out over two years. There might be some details I've missed, but that is the gist of it.
-
Statistically, the Eagles offense was significantly more effective than it's been under Foles. Philly might be willing to have a conversation about Foles, or if h'e a free agent decline to extend him, but they are never in this universe going to trade Wentz.

Let’s just take a moment and thank The Giants....

Now if we can just give Bill Belichick a tour of the Pit of Misery. -
So you're saying the Bills should be all in for Josh Allen?
-
I would be a bit surprised to see Billy Price available past the middle of the second round or Hernandez available at the end of the third. I'm expecting that the Bills will see Ryan Groy as their new starter at center and look to sign a value priced veteran as interior line depth. They may also look to sign a DT starter in free agency so they aren't faced with having to depend on two rookies playing next to each other.

I noted the comment of one poster who said that networks will still try to outbid one another for the right to broadcast NFL games. They may, but I think there will be some second guessing going on. While the networks do tend to have deep pockets, they are still in the business to make money, and if the trend toward declining ratings continues, it may well signal the end of wildly inflating NFL profits. That in turn will necessarily bring and end to wildly inflating player salaries. When that happens there is going to be a lot of noise made. It could be very interesting, but probably won't be pleasant.

What are your two biggest wishes this offseason?

A long term answer at QB Daboll is the answer at OC -
Absolutely, but they still represent what their authors think will happen, and that disproves your original post, that everybody knows the Browns are going to pick Barkley. Dorsey hasn't tipped his hand yet, and unless somebody has inside info, nobody's going to know for sure until he does.
-
A quick survey of the last twenty mock drafts on the Walterfootball database shows 4 of them have Saquon Barkley going to the Browns with the first pick. Sixteen mocks have them picking a QB. It is possible that Cleveland will pick Barkley, and that could be good for the Bills' QB hopes, and it might even be the right pick, but among media types and fans alike it most assuredly is not common knowledge that they are picking Barkley.

Potential replacements for Eric Wood
TigerJ replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are so many ways the Bills could go, I don't see too much point in trying to predict it. The most obvious are, of course, Ryan Groy or a high draft pick (Billy Price). Price stands a good chance of being available where Buffalo picks and would be a good value. If the Bills go with Groy, they might look for a veteran free agent to back him up, or a day 3 draft pick, or maybe even a UDFA.
