Interesting. I did not know that. I know the resale market for tickets is huge, and a big part of that is season ticket buyers who never intended to go to more than a few games. I'm sure a lot of season ticket owners essentially go to a few games free each year because of the markup in the resale market. I wonder why the team discriminates that way though. Maybe out of towners are more likely to have to sell some of their weeks/games, but I think a lot of local sell a lot of their games because they can.

FA DE Owa Odighizuwa working out for Bills (update:Signed)
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's young and was a high draft pick. His measurables are indicative of a far better player than he has shown to be thus far in his career. He lost his first year to injury then couldn't crack a very strong defense that the Giants had. I think his upside is far higher than you are giving credit for, but there is certainly a chance he'll do nothing, in which case Buffalo has spent very little. -
I'd be OK with that. The only cost to trading up is deferred for a year. Hopefully the Bills will be good enough that their first round pick is at the bottom of the round. I don't regard center as a crucial need since I think Ryan Groy is going to be just fine as a starter, but Ragnow is a good value in the second, and Buffalo could stand to upgrade the interior of their offensive line.

Adam Schein's Nine Riskiest Free Agents
TigerJ replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think part of the risk issue is connected to the size contract those players are expected to get. I doubt Ivory's contract is big enough to suggest he's a significant risk. -
Maybe I could give Rosen a pass, but I think all the other QBs in this draft are to some degree "project QBs" because they have issues that will need to be resolved before they can become top notch NFL QBs. I think Lamar Jackson's biggest issue is developing consistent mechanics. He has excellent mechanics sometimes, but at other times he gets sloppy. That's when his accuracy slips. I would not be disappointed if Buffalo drafts him.

I am a non drinker, and I haven't had an issue with beer in the stands since the early 80s, a Monday night game where the Bills lost ugly and half the stadium was drunk and in a bad mood.

QB Velocity Numbers for 2018 Draft Released
TigerJ replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm. Tyrod Taylor - 50 It is an interesting stat, and obviously the stronger the arm the better, but arm strength is one thing a QB can develop. I suspect there have been successful QBs who could only throw in the upper 40s. -

Exactly. It wouldn't be the first time Buffalo acquired a player who was a bust elsewhere but blossomed as a Bill. Ahem - Jerry Hughes -
M. Rudolph. Would he make it to 53?
TigerJ replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Opinions of pundits are varied at this point. I've seen Rudolph projected to the Bills in the third round of a five round mock draft as well as going in the first round. Only two things are certain. Opinions are going to change between now and the end of April, and the Bills probably won't be listening to opinions outside of their own scouting staff. -
Adam Schein Predicts Where the UFA and Draft QBs Land
TigerJ replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you rule out trading up for Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield, and you want a QB that at least some consider to be first round quality, you have a limited choice: Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolph. It's true that Tyrod being a running QB may sway the opinions of some toward Jackson, but there really are not an abundance of alternatives given the constraints I mentioned. -
I think the odds favor Zay Jones making the biggest leap forward. First, the bar is set pretty low. Second, he was dealing with a shoulder injury . I think some of his struggles may have been due to that. Third, he gets an upgrade at his position coach, even though his coach last season was his college head coach. The only question is who is going to get him the ball.

I don't think we ever saw what Matthews could be as a receiver. It's too bad the injury issue didn't get addressed a lot sooner.

Difference between Jackson and Taylor
TigerJ replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills do end up drafting Lamar Jackson, it makes some sense to retain Tyrod as a mentor. As has been stated, both are QBs who run some and throw some. It would be easier on Daboll as OC to be able to think in terms of having the same offense for both if one is the starter and the other the primary backup. Emotionally, I'm ready to cut ties with Tyrod, but I'm not stupid. I think Lamar has more upside than Tyrod. He has some accuracy issues, but if the Bills draft him, I don't thinmkthey'll be thinking he's the instant starter. He'll have some time to work on consistency in his mechanics. I read and article by one observer who studies him quite closely. The point of the article was that Lamar is capable of exhibiting excellent mechanics sometimes, but he will also get careless. It's when he gets careless that his accuracy slips. If he could spend some time as a backup, he can work on the consistency issues. I think that if the Bills do draft him, they will try not to have to start him in the fall, whether they retain Tyrod or try to sign a veteran who can start and be productive while Lamar polishes his game. -
Assuming the Bills did not overpay, this is a tremendous upgrade from Tolbert.

Rotoworld- Giants leaning away from QB @ #2
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Giants are committed to Eli, it is not shocking at all that they would do something else with the #2 pick versus drafting Eli's eventual successor. If I were their GM, my choice would be Barkley or trade down. As good as Nelson is, you don't draft a guard with the second overall pick. Rumor: L.Jackson 2nd QB on Bills Board
TigerJ replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have seen Buffalo linked to how many QBs in the 2018 draft? If the Bills draft any QB at all, somebody's going to be able to say, "Haha, I told you so!" If it is Jackosn, I could see their reasoning, though I certainly don't want to see a trade up to make it happen. -
They began a while ago.

Needs development of his footwork and his anticipation. The footwork issue is what leads to inaccuracy at times. The anticipation issue is more troubling to me as we have had two QBs recently who couldn't anticipate very well: EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. Both needed to see an open receiver before they felt comfortable letting go of the ball. That meant the receiver had to make his final move before Manuel or Taylor would pull the trigger. That extra fraction of a second allows defensive backs to close the gap after the receiver has made his move, actually resulting in less separation and making it harder to complete passes. After having two QBs who couldn't get over that tendency, I'm realoly wary of signing on for a third.

As billspro states, he will be in play if he drops that far. He's raw, owing to his college background, but he has that proverbial "freaky athleticism" you can't teach, and reports are he has a great attitude toward the game and wanting to get better.

Bucky Brooks NFL combine winners (Allen) & losers (Rosen).
TigerJ replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another combine observer called Josh Allen a combine loser because he continued to show a lack of anticipation (the ability to pass before the receiver made his final cut. Interesting how opinions can vary. -
For all of Belichick's success in making the Patriots a consistent winner year after year, he's not particularly known for his astute drafting. A lot of NE's recent success has been the fact that NE is an attractive free agent destination for players who want to win a championship.
