  1. I did like the Cleveland Browns once. That was half a century ago, literally. Go LeRoy Kelly!
  2. My bad. He was, however, born in Manhattan Beach, California. LOL
  3. If the Colts were unwilling to move out of the top 10, what was Beane supposed to do?
  4. I don't disagree based on this video, but the whole Florida International team looked like they were outmanned in this game.
  5. That's how one radio pronounced it in an interview with McGough, and McGough didn't correct him. https://www.sportstalkflorida.com/featured/rock-riley-talks-fiu-quarterback-alex-mcgough/
  6. If Buffalo can fill some holes with upgrades at linebacker and WR, I think it's very possible to make the playoffs with AJ McCarron. I don't know that they can be significantly better than last season however.
  7. I billieve I've seen that somewhere.
  8. Happy Easter to all for what's left of it. Every day to me is Easter!
  9. Tyrod is a good teammate and has always been popular with his mates. That's one thing that made it hard to get rid of him, but I respectfully disagree with Percy on that.
  10. I've been saying I think the top three spots in the draft are out of reach for Buffalo. I think the Bills could trade somewhere in the 4 to 6 range if they really want to. It depends on the cost and how badly the want the player they have targeted there. I would guess the odds for a trade in to that range are a bit better than 50/50, but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if it didn't happen.
  11. I get that the points are supposed to be an indicator, but I found the percentages for each QB to be pretty interesting. They also give a very rosy picture of Mayfield's future pro career. Mayfield might be the most likely QB to end up as a Buffalo Bill, particularly if Buffalo trades up, but if they don't get Mayfield, the rest of the crop has mixed prognostications. Rosen is the next best with a bust risk percentage of 46.9% and a 10.4% chance of elite status. I don't think there is any chance of Rosen ending up as a Bill. Darnold has a bust risk of just over 50% (51.9%), but has among the lowest chances of an elite career at 4.1%. Going on down the list, Josh Allen has a very high (62.7% risk of busting, but his elite chances are a bit higher than Darnold's at 5.2%. Lamar Jackson, who had a pretty disappointing pro day by some accounts, makes out pretty well in this evaluation with the second lowest bust risk after Mayfield at 46.2%, and the third highest chances of elite status at 8.5%. Mason Rudolph and Kyle Lauletta are pretty comparable to each other with a bust risk in the mid 50% range and an elite chance in the middle between 5 and 6%. Lastly, Luke Falk ranks closest to Rudolph and Lauletta in terms of bust risk, and a bit better than those two in his elite chances. I can't come up with one ranking by incorporating elite and bust percentages, but if I do two separate rankings, it looks like this: Bust risk (least to greatest) or highest floor: Mayfield Jackson Rosen Darnold Rudolph Falk Lauletta Allen Elite potential (greatest to least) or highest ceiling: Mayfield Rosen Jackson Falk Rudolph Lauletta Allen Darnold Now NFL teams aren't likely to pay much attention to Football Outsiders on this, but if you think it has merit, you'll be glad to see Darnold off the board at the top of the draft and Allen in that same area. If the Jets get Rosen (their much rumored target) they look to be in decent shape. Mayfield appears to be far and away the best prospect in the draft by these numbers (as well as the points) and should be available in the 4 to 6 range with Denver rumored to be enamored with Rudolph. After that Jackson looks like a decent prospect despite his less than impressive pro day. Falk, Rudolph and Lauletta don't have great numbers, but they're all in kind of the same territory. If you like one of them, you have your reasons. If that's who is left when you're picking, good luck.
  12. I googled it and couldn't find a 40 time. No, a 40 time is not the be all end all when it comes to looking at receivers, but at least it gives you a clue as to what kind of deep speed a receiver might have.
  13. I don't do film observation, so I wouldn't presume to critique the work that Gunner has done, but his grade on where these QBs should be drafted has zero impact on where they will be drafted. The incredible need that NFL teams have to find the right quarterback when there are not enough to go around results in them being drafted far higher than grades based solely on their mechanics, measurables and college production might suggest for a draft position. I'm pretty sure Gunner would agree with that too.
  14. The most troubling thing about him in the summary from rotoworld is, he "might not have the on-field processing upside that would allow him to find success at the next level." I'm tired of guys who can't process.
  15. McCarron: Hey man, you know I'm gonna take your starting gig.
  16. It's actually quite interesting. Leaf is articulate and very open. The interview is not mostly about his own football past (he admits to having been a bust and says it was his fault). His comments about the current crop of QB prospects is insightful. He has had a conversation with Josh Rosen. Rosen's decision to turn pro seems to have been motivated by the fact that both New York area franchises would be picking early in the draft. Obviously, Rosen, who is from New York, has ambitions to be in the largest media market. He didn't want to be in Cleveland. I presume he would not be thrilled to be in Buffalo either. He also thought that Mayfield has some of the same personality issues that he now recognizes as flaws in his younger self, which made it much harder to transition into the pros. Take it for what it's worth.
  17. The Browns were rumored to be trying to switch top spots with the Giants, but no way are they dropping from #1 to #12 even though they still have the #4 pick. They probably would part with #4 for the right price.
  18. I'm guessing UDFA for somebody.
  19. I would guess it's possible to put together a nice highlight video of 90% of the QBs in college football.
  20. Obviously, he didn't want to run the 40 because he has tunnel vision for playing QB in the NFL, and perceives a good 40 time as encouraging NFL teams to consider him as a WR. As far as taking the Wonderlic goes, he apparently didn't think about how difficult it might be for him. He probably didn't get much or very good advice from his manager (aka. Mom) either. I don't imagine she has a lot of experience in dealing with a lot of young NFL prospects.
  21. Rosen may be the most pro ready QB in the draft, but there are some red flags especially for the Browns. He's let it be known he wouldn't be thrilled by being drafted by the Browns. He's had injuries and needs to play behind a solid offensive line. Cleveland just lost their best offensive lineman to retirement. Other QBs actually have more athleticism and higher upside. Cleveland acquired Tyrod Taylor specifically so their rookie wouldn't have to start. That gives them the freedom to draft a higher upside. less pro-ready QB with the first pick in the draft. Right now, the Jets are the odds on favorite to be the destination for Rosen.
  22. I think Mason Rudolph has ample upside. He's going to take time to develop having come out of the system he's played in, but he's smart, and I think he can learn. The Broncos are in an ideal situation because they know Case Keenum can play. If the Broncos draft Rudolph, he'll go in, and sit and learn for a couple years. If the Broncos are right, they have their starter for the next decade or more.
  23. Josh Allen's excellent arm strength can only be viewed as a positive if you're looking logically and his future as an NFL QB. There are a bunch of other factors, and he could turn out to be a total bust, but it would be a mistake to let strong armed failures of the past discount Josh Allen's potential as a QB.
  24. As usual, my position is the middle road between two extremes. I don't think a trade into the top 2 is even possible. I'm OK with a trade up as high as #4, but Beane had better be pretty darn sure the QB he can pick at that point is the right one for the Bills, because it will have implications for the talent level of the team that could las easily a couple years or more.
