  1. I have no problem with a homer slant on a show that is essentially produced by and for the home town team. It is what it is. I enjoy most of the guests and homer or not, I learn a lot. My biggest gripe? WGR just went to a new service for live streaming online, and my computer doesn't work with it. I can only listen to the replay atthe official website for the Bills.
  2. I would think the Bills would be interested in getting bonus money back from Incognito for the contract he just signed. That gets added on to their cap room, I believe. What Incognito does after than doesn't really matter to me. If he really has medical issues, I feel for him and hope he recovers, If he's looking to go elsewhere and play, so be it. He's not a difference maker any more.
  3. If Buffalo has drafted a QB at #12, a trade down from #22 is certainly in play. It depends less on what Buffalo can do to screw up NE's draft than what players are available to Buffalo at 22 and what they can get by trading the pick. Picking up another 2nd or 3rd round pick would be terrific, however, because you figure you can get a starter in that range.
  4. I think the rule of thumb for draft pick values is that next year's picks are discounted by a round. If that is the case, the value of next year's 20th overall pick has value to this year's 52nd overall pick, or 380 points compared with 580 points as the value of this year's 33rd overall pick.
  5. I think you might be right. I can't imagine Cleveland going for that deal.
  6. There has been a rumor that the Browns actually prefer Josh Allen and would draft him at #1. There are rumors that the Giants will not draft a QB at all (as well as rumors the only QB the Giants would draft is Darnold). There are rumors the Jets are focused in on drafting Baker Mayfield. None of that stuff is set in stone, of course, but where there is rumor, there is the possibility of truth ("Where there's smoke, there's fire"). Because there are rumors and the possibility it could happen, Buffalo has to do their due diligence in case Sam Darnold actually does fall. Personally, I don't think Buffalo has enough draft capital to trade up to 4 and then up to 2 as both Cleveland and the Giants would be asking for a premium over the already high price on the draft pick value chart.
  7. I clicked on the link and scrolled down through, but didn't see any tweet about the Bills plans in the top of the first round. How about someone posting a quote so we can know what we're talking about. Yolo posted in another thread quotes from an Eric Galko podcast claiming the Bills are all in for trading to #4 and most likely drafting Josh Rosen. Obviously there are lots of rumors and opinions out there on what the Bills are going to do.
  8. If the Bills could be certain of everything that Galko claims in the podcast, that would be true. Knowing that there are complete surprises every year, it may be that the Bills, who have most likely heard everything claimed in the podcast, may not trust it all to be true. If they are certain they want one of the three (Darnold/Allen/Rosen) the only way to insure you can get what you want is to trade up.
  9. The unsigned free agent guards are all unsigned for a reason. Evans is 35 and doesn't have a lot in the tank. Luke Joeckel struggled to make the transition to the pro game. Trey Hopkins is limited athletically. There are probably 10 free agents out there. If Buffalo felt they needed to, they could probably bring one of them in, but don't expect an all pro.
  10. I'm OK with Rudolph if that is how the draft shakes out. I'm not expecting him to start right away. His Wonderlic score was not leaked as were the top 5 QBs, but when he's been on TV he appears to be bright and articulate, with an excellent recall when shown plays (Steve Mariucci's white board). The Bills will be comfortable starting McCarron or Peterman IMO, and I think it'll take less than a year for Rudolph to grasp Daboll's offense.
  11. I am not questioning Incognito's motives at this point for signing a renegotiated contract and then deciding to retire. I do think that the Gills will seek and should receive payback on any bonus check given to Incognito as a result of the renegotiation. This may or may not affect the Bills' draft strategy, but it seems like the drafting of an interior lineman becomes more of a necessity rather than a luxury. Buffalo has some freedom in how they approach it, however. Groy can play guard or center (or right tackle in a pinch). If they want to put Groy at center, they could lean more toward a guard prospect like Hernandez or Wynn. If they want Groy to play guard, they would be more inclined to draft a player who is more of a sure thing at center. Of course, a number of prospects project to either. Ragnow is often projected to center, but played guard in college. I'm wondering if Incognito's retirement makes the Bills feel a bit more restricted in the draft picks they can part with in order to move up. I thought all along that 2nd over all would probably be too expensive for Buffalo. Maybe that's even more true now. Is 5th or 6th still doable? we shall see.
  12. Probably, but it's not a lock.
  13. I had not followed his career at Oakland very closely, except to know he is a terror as a pass rusher. I see he is listed as a DE. That suggests he's a good fit, probably as a Jerry Hughes replacement.
  14. I like his interview. He seems to have his head screwed on straight and is very self-aware. I also like his varied college experience. He also seems to have some physical talent. If he ends up as a Bills, he's got some potential to develop.
  15. I wonder how well he fits the scheme. Obviously he's a difference maker, but a poor scheme fit carries its own set of headaches.
  16. Yup. If they do trade, I suspect they'll want an arm and a leg in return.
  17. I don't know if trading up that high makes the playoffs impossible, but trading that high would be too costly for me if I am Beane.
  18. Whether or not fans want to do it, Bryant doesn't seem to be the type of player the current management of the teams is targeting.
  19. Southern Tier born (Salamanca) and raised. I'm currently in Bath and Giants fans are as prevalent in this area.
  20. This is true. Drafting Josh Allen is a lot like drafting a college freshman. When he graduated high school he was lightly recruited and could not get into a major college because his high school program was so weak. They played 7 on 7. Most of the team's players played other sports so the school didn't try to send their kids to sports camps. Allen never attended a QB camp in high school. He ended up in a junior college for a couple years where he had terrific numbers. While he had Carson Wentz's old coach, he only had him for a couple years, after an injury forced him to redshirt his first year at Wyoming. The bottom line is that he has had an inferior preparation for the pros in comparison to lots of college QBs. Until he got to Wyoming, he got by mostly on his natural talent. Who knows how much time the Wyoming staff could invest in helping him develop good habits and proper mechanics. That background certainly does increase the risk of drafting him. It is why the team that drafts him would be best served if they had ample risk tolerance. He's been rumored to be the target of the Cleveland Browns. Personally, I think that would be crazy. It would be better if he could end up with a team like Arizona, which has a very good, if injury prone QB in Sam Bradford. If Arizona can keep Bradford healthy for a couple season. Allen, if he responds to careful nurture and coaching, could end up being a great pick. In Cleveland, he stands an excellent chance of being one more in a string of Cleveland drafting disasters.
  21. If Rosen and Mayfield are on the board, Mason Rudolph is not getting drafted. The point of the article is that Mason Rudolph has some positive traits as did Dak Prescott. Prescott was passed over early in the draft because his college offense was a spread offense where he lined up in the shotgun all the time. There is always a question about whether or not the skill set of a spread system QB will translate to the NFL. Dak Prescott had the advantage of going to a team with an outstanding offensive line, so he got better protection than your average rookie. The Dallas Cowboys also drafted Ezekiel Elliot in the first round of that draft, and Elliot's ability certainly made life easier for Prescott as he made the transition. Should Buffalo draft Rudolph, their offensive line will not be quite so established, but it may not be bad. Also, AJ McCarron would probably start while Rudolph makes the transition. There is reason to believe he could succeed long term.
  22. Josh Allen certainly does carry a fair amount of risk. There are, however, a number of factors that contribute to his accuracy issues that may be addressed with solid coaching. It will take some time, and there are no guarantees, but if you don't need the guy to play right a way, and have a fair amount of risk tolerance, drafting Josh Allen could pay off big time in the long run. I'm not recommending Buffalo target him as I'm not sure they have the requisite risk tolerance.
  23. Myth among many mock drafters: since Eric Wood was forced to retire due to injury, Buffalo is desperate to draft a plug and play center early in the draft. Reality: Buffalo currently devotes more cap dollars to the center position than any other team in the NFL. They believe Ryan Groy is a starter quality center judging by his salary, and they signed a center with a good amount of starting experience to serve as his backup. If they draft an interior lineman, it will be a guy who can compete at guard as well as backup center. Some mock drafter project Allen to Buffalo, citing the weather as the OP suggests. Others project Mayweather, who also has a good arm. All of the top four actually have decent or better arm strength. However, I agree, weather rarely impacts more than a game or two at New Era Field, and in the snow game last year, nobody was going to have a downfield passing game, strong arm or not. Arm strength would not be a significant liability for Lamar Jackson or Mason Rudolph.
  24. Thanks for the heads up. I don't mind self promotion at all when you contribute something solid to show for it.
