Josh Allen! Hmmm. This is going to be interesting. AJ McCarron's ability to start is key. Allen is a project.

Ward to Cleveland is great news. It means two of the top three players in the draft are still on the board and they aren't QBs. It reduces the odds that Denver goes QB or trades down. If Buffalo wants to trade up for their QB, maybe they wont have to go as far.

The NFL Network reporter covering Buffalo said that in her conversation with Bean, she got the message that there is only one QB in the top 4 they want badly enough to trade up for. We'll see if the guy is named Josh.

Down to the Joshes for Buffalo. For thos who don't have much biblical background, Joshua is not only a biblical name. It is the same name as Jesus. The Hebrew pronounciation for both is Yeshua. It means "God save us."

Is it fair to judge Josh Allen based on tweets?
TigerJ replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it fair to Allen? No. There is too much we don''t know about the circumstances. Was it quoting a song as some have said, or is there another explanation than he's racist? Without some research and corroboration, it's impossible to know what's going on. However, the NFL Draft ourt of law and is not bound by the principle of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. GMs should and will make their decisions by weighing everything. They will consider the risk of taking a player who may or may not have a problem with a racist attitude based on the information they have at the time they have to make the decision. -
He's the owner of the Bills. In the past, on occasion when something big was about to break on the personnel front, there would be rumors of Terry Pegula flying his jet to where that breaking news was about to happen.

No trade, no QB, no interest. Bye bye.

Incoming, Speculation 49ers-Pats trade for Rosen.
TigerJ replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If 2 QBs are gone by pick #4, Buffalo trades up to say #5, and then one other team trades up with Indy (Miami?) for a QB, it could be all for naught as far as the Patriots are concerned. -
Dorsey: No legit offers for #1 pick

You got that right. -
Allbright: "It's Darnold" UPDATE: He admits he was wrong
TigerJ replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
An interesting theory. Back a couple months ago, it was said the Bills were high on Darnold. If it were true then, nothing has really happened that would change that. -
Allbright: "It's Darnold" UPDATE: He admits he was wrong
TigerJ replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Darnold to Cleveland at #1 is a best case scenario for the Bills if you buy the earlier rumor that Darnold is the only QB that the Giants are interested. If Darnold were available, they would draft him, if not, they would draft a non-QB (presumably Barkley or Chubb. That would leave two QBs out of the top 4 still available after Cleveland picks at #4. , and that gives Buffalo a few more options about where they might trade and who they might target. -
It's #2 Spot or no Trade-Up at All
TigerJ replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get it, and I don't buy it. It is more unusual to consumate first round draft trades prior to the draft than during the draft. Beane will have talked trade terms with every team above them in the draft, but most teams would hesitate to make the draft official until they know who is on the board. Denver may have a player they would want rather than trade the pick. If that player is on the board, the trade never happens. Suppose Saquon Barkley drops for some reason. Denver might end up kicking themselves in the arse all the way from Dallas back to the mile high city if they don't have the pick to be able to snatch him up. -
Kay Stephenson?

I'd be pretty happy for the Bills if the draft panned out this way. They plugged holes and got some quality players to boot.

Allbright: "It's Darnold" UPDATE: He admits he was wrong
TigerJ replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The buzz for a while was that Darnold is the only QB the Giants would take at #2. If Darnold goes to the Browns, my understanding was the Giants would pick a player at a different position at #2. The assumption was that player would be Barkley, but Chubb could not be completely ruled out. That has been my operating assumption on how the top of the first round will play out. The three way trade was talked about for a while too. It was the Bills, Giants and Colts. It is widely believed that the Giants don't want to drop too far from #2, that #12 is too low to go. In this scenario, the Giants would drop to #6, the Colts to #12, and the Bills would jump to #2. That would be pretty hard to pull off, both complicated and expensive. I just don't think it's happening. -
I have my doubts that Mayfield makes it out of the top 3. He's been linked to both Cleveland at #1 and the Jets at #3.

Am I the only one? I'll take any of the top 6 QBs
TigerJ replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be honest, I am both OK and apprehensive about all six possible first round QBs. I'm OK with any one of them because I think they all have upside and could turn out to be good or better NFL QBs. I'm apprehensive, because they all have flaws to their game (even Josh Rosen) that make them a risk. There is no sure thing at QB in this draft. I don't know that there ever is, but that is more true of this draft than in some. -
A while back, the rumor was that Sam Darnold was the only QB that Gettleman would pick if he were available at #2. If that rumor turns out to be factual, then this mock can't happen. If that rumor was just part of an ever thickening cloud of smoke, it is not at all impossible to think the Bills could trade up and draft him. Would I like that? Maybe. We'll see how it all pans out on Thursday.

Obviously, Allen is a gamble if you're counting on him being the Bills' QB of the future. There's reason to believe he's had less opportunity to learn the QB position at a high level than all of the top picks in the draft. That may explain some of the deficiencies in his game, but if Beane thinks so, and he's wrong, it means the Bills will still be looking in a couple years. I think if Allen is your young QB prospect, you're counting on AJ McCarron or Nate Peterman starting at least the entire 2018 season. That doesn't bother me. I just hope if he's the pick, it works out for the best.
