  1. Is anybody really surprised by this? If it hadn't happened today, it would have happened tomorrow or Thursday. I agree that it is not at all likely he begins the season as the Bills' starter. This is about the Bills coaching staff laying a foundation for the when the day comes that he is starter. That day is almost inevitable given that Allen was a 7th overall pick. He would have to suck pretty bad not to become starter at some point. I listened to the recording of Allen's interview on One Bills Live yesterday. He did say that he has mostly caught up with McCarron and Peterman in his knowledge of the offense. That's not too surprising. He's extremely smart, so you would expect he would catch up at some point. He's still a rookie though, and regardless of how smart you are there's stuff that takes time to learn and adjust to. McCarron and Peterman have, I believe, enough ability that the Bills shouldn't be pressured to start Allen until he's really ready.
  2. Sometimes. I bought a house 8 years ago. I will probably sell next year to move closer to my kids. I'm hoping to break even. It doesn't help when the biggest employer shut down their plant a few years ago. Nobody has come in to hire anyone. People are moving out, not in.
  3. It's tough to escape pressure in the pocket when you're wearing concrete overshoes.
  4. Wasn't there an organized crime boss in the Bosa boys family tree? I know that is irrelevant to the discussion, but I thought that was interesting when I heard it.
  5. It's true that from the outside looking in it doesn't appear as if Buffalo is going to put up big numbers in the passing game, but is a player is looking for a multi year deal, the possibilities for 2019 and beyond might be intriguing for a receiver.
  6. I bet they are reporting somewhere right around the 26th - 27th of July.
  7. I'm pretty much in agreement with this. I'm not in any hurry to start Allen. However, I'm willing to have my mind changed by training camp and preseason performances. I'm not sure about Mahomes, but he's not a Buffalo Bills, so I really don't care.
  8. 4.79 40 Buffalo will probably have 8 or 9 starters on the defense who can outrun him.
  9. Process progress.
  10. I just listened to Chris Brown on One Bills Live (aka, The John Murphy/Steve Tasker Show). It was the recorded version at the Bills website. I know the Bills pay his salary, so you have to take that into account with anything he says, but What I take from it is: Allen is mentally behind McCarro and Peterman, but that is to be expected as they've had the playbook longer and as veterans they would be expected to master it more quickly. Allen is learning quickly and making up ground. Brown did not address accuracy. Allen has missed some passes as per reports by others. I think the reasons for that are varied, and some are issues that will take care of themselves as Allen gets more familiar with the offense and his receivers (and vice versa) Others have been missed because he still needs to become more consistent in his delivery (footwork etc.) The thing that seems to stick out for Chris Brown is that Allen is not mentally flustered in the slightest. He knows the plays he's supposed to do, knows what his receivers are supposed to do and has an easy command of the huddle.
  11. As long as we're being honest here, I am the real TigerJ. I am among those who never had the impression that our Shaw66 was the original. I enjoy and respect him as a poster for his knowledge and respect for the game.
  12. Wait 6 months and tell them. If I'm right, the evidence should be more visible by then.
  13. All cancer is unwelcome. Lymphomas, at least some of them are considered more curable even in late stages than others. My nephew recently underwent treatment for Hodgkins disease, one type of lymphoma. Last report is he's doing fine. He's 30 years old. Here's hoping Dave Gettleman has the same success.
  14. Brandon Bryant certainly has the athleticism to catch your attention. He had a DUI arrest in January and had academic problems this spring. That's why he applied for the supplemental draft. Those are minor red flag issues, but not necessarily deal breakers. The real attention getter is the fact that in timed runs he has consistently been under 4.3 in the 40 yard dash. He's very strong and is listed anywhere for 205 to 215 lbs. It would be interesting to know if he has the skill set to play CB too (can backpedal, flip his hips, and track the ball while staying with a receiver).
  15. When after the regular springtime draft circumstances lead to one or more college players being ruled ineligible to continue to play college ball, (whether due to academics, disciplinary issues or whatever) the league typically holds a supplemental draft to provide a controlled means of incorporating those players into the league rather than letting them become free agents or forcing them to sit until the following year's draft.
  16. Zay Jones will top 600 yards and 60 receptions receiving. The Bills defense will notch 30+ sacks Josh Allen will start at least 6 games and have a 60% completion rate.
  17. I get that feeling as well. I don't know that there will be a collapse this year, but it doesn't seem as if Belichick is able to keep as tight a rein on things as he has in the past. Certainly, Brady does not need the OTAs to know what he's supposed to be doing on the field, but some of their newer receivers would benefit from more exposure to the way Brady throws the ball rather than less exposure. The Patriots have three QBs on the roster. That means for the OTAs they've only had two QBs present. That means they had to run the drills short handed at QB or find a former QB on the roster (Julian Edelman?) and ask him to throw the ball instead of catch it. It's not a huge deal, but a team is clearly better off with all their QBs in house. I think there may be a few other things to indicate the Patriots are becoming a bit unraveled compared to Patriot teams of the past.
  18. You make a good point, as does switz. Cutting players is necessary in the NFL, and "McBeane" certainly has done that. It's impossible to make an objective comparison between the way Belichick does it and the way it happens for the Bills. I wonder what Belichick would have done with Kyle Williams for instance. Kyle is still a good player, but his salary cap figure might be higher than his production in the coming season. One can argue that Belichick would have cut him and signed a cheaper replacement. Beane did that with Dareus and Lotulelei, but the problem with Dareus seemed to be attitude and commitment, not age. We'll never know for sure, but it seems like Beane made a choice to keep Kyle for one more season even though it might not have been the most cost effective decision. One at least gets the impression that it's harder for McDermott and Beane to cut a player who has the right attitude but might not be as productive as hoped than it is for Belichick. That's not to say McDermott and Beane don't do it.
  19. Rape is a horrific crime. I only know what I can read in the news, and I try not to make judgment on what I don't know. Here, I don't know all the specifics of the crime Bennett committed, but even more than that, I don't know what kind of person he is today. To me, it doesn't matter how horrific the crime, if the criminal justice system saw fit not to execute him, and indeed to let him out on the street as a free man, I would try to make my judgments about him as a person as he is today, not 21 years ago.. I believe everybody should have a second chance, if they can demonstrate a change of heart.
  20. I have to believe if Herndon was hospitalized, it would have been mentioned in the article. It did state he was arrested. I'm guessing he had no more than minor injuries. I'm also guessing he's in line to receive a suspension to start his NFL career, assuming he manages to avoid jail time.
  21. Sounds like he could be a good depth pickup.
  22. LOL. Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out, Ryan. It could cause brain damage. You need to save what you have.
  23. My reation to all this is that Belichick probably operates with an all business philosophy in dealing with his players. Obviously, it works for the Patriots, and some players thrive in that atmosphere. Others aren't going to. Rex Ryan is the anti-Bill Bellichick, and that obviously didn't work in Buffalo. Sean McDermott's approach is probably closer to Belichick's with a critical difference - he has created an atmosphere of mutual caring and commitment. The coaches seem to care about the players. The players seem to care about the other players and the coaches. Overall, I like that, and think it is healthy, but there is one drawback - when it becomes obvious that a change in personnel becomes necessary, it always hurts a little more to be dumped by somebody you thought cared about you. With Belichick, you accept when you sign with New England that the moment you lose your value as a team contributor you're going to be cut or traded.
  24. The thought of getting a CB who is 6'3" has some ball skills and can run is enticing, but boy is he risky. He also has some shortcomings as a player. The expectation is that he might go in the 5th or 6th round. Beane might consider a 7th round flyer, but I don't think he'd use a fifth.
  25. The order is the same as in the most recent draft, and if you pick a player in the supplemental draft. If you go through the first round and nobody picks a player, they go to the second round, etc. Any team picking a player gives up their pick in the same round in the draft next year.
