  1. I agree. It's the nature of the beast. A bottom feeder like Cleveland is going to have more turnover at the top of the roster. They are going to have more questions on starters than better teams, and questions about starters need to be answered before they can look for answers about fringe guys. So, they have more motivation to start their starters for more snaps than a good team would.
  2. Cleveland was 4-0 in preseason last year, 0-16 when games counted.
  3. There had to be a reason Cleveland was dumping a first round pick for a seventh. I agree, it was a small price for Beane to pay for a player with Coleman's skill set. I think Buffalo has an exceedingly strong locker room at present, and a coaching staff that has shown they can help a player realize his potential. Maybe those factors will help the light to come on for Coleman. If not, Buffalo will just have to go with a group of WRs that aren't quite as fast.
  4. The answer might be right on the Bills' roster already. Somewhere, someone said today that Kelvin Benjamin has been seen throwing a ball 60 yards. It appears the big receiver has an NFL arm.
  5. It's not a particular player, but the fact that, in the first half at least, the offense looked very crisp. Players seemed to know their assignments. There weren't a lot of mistakes, turnovers, or penalties. For years we've been conditioned to expect the first preseason game to be boring and sloppy. This one wasn't. I have to give credit to this coaching staff. Other head coaches have given lip service to fundamentals and attentionn to detail. This coaching staff appears to walk the walk. The second half featured a rookie QB and a field full of third stringers. I can give them a pass for the time being.
  6. You could say that.
  7. Mike Love is healthy? Great news!
  8. It is interesting that most of the camp fights so far have involved Jordan Mills. I get that fights can happen, and it is a sign of the intensity of the practice, but you'd expect that the fights would be spread among multiple players instead of always involving one particular guy. I'm guessing he's either doing an awful lot of trash talking or he;s using some questionable (dirty) techniques in his blocking and has been able to get away with it.
  9. If Mahomes pans out and Derek Carr has a bounce back year, I think the AFC West has a pretty good complement of present and future talent at QB. San Diego is praying Rivers avoids injury though.
  10. Since Oakland cut Hackenberg, that conditional 7th round pick not becomes the right to sign a UDFA after next April's draft LOL.
  11. I don't know where his ceiling is, but I think he's not only more athletic and stronger than Ben R., he's also a better teammate and smarter. Not only that, but at this point he looks less inclined to have off field issues than Big Ben.
  12. He's still wearing a red jersey ("Defense, keep your hands off."), but is participating in 11 on 11, and I think he had a big reception today
  13. I'm thinking hospice.
  14. QB: Still appears to be up in the air, but in a good way. Everybody is looking pretty good. Yeah, Josh Allen looks like a rookie at times, but a good rookie. WR: Still up in the air. It's pretty safe to assume Benjamin and Kerley are locks. Foster and Proehl have been struggling at times. Coleman and Zay Jones are just getting started, though Zay Jones did some good things in practice today. Cam Phillips was back at practice today, and was catching passes. The rest have been doing enough good things that they aren't taking themselves out of the competition. Center: Ah, it looks like we may have a winner. Lately Ryan Groy has been getting all the first team snaps. Feel free to chime in on these, and any other camp battles you're watching.
  15. It's been said Jon Gruden never saw a QB he didn't like. He's proving the truth of that now. LOL
  16. If the Bills had any notion that McCarron had a serious injury, he would not have been on the field practicing. though Peterman's injury happened on what appeared to be his last play of the practice, I'm getting the impression it was more of a "ding" than a real injury. I did pose a question in another thread. If McCarron's injury requires a little rest, does Buffalo start Allen versus the Browns on Friday, rather than give Peterman a second straight start? Presumably, it would have been McCarron's turn to start the Cleveland game.
  17. I'm guessing not. He was "sacked" and it was reported his ankle was stepped on, then a bit later he was seen holding his knee. Cramps don't affect joints.
  18. McCarron apparently dinged (ankle), and now Peterman (elbow). I imagine both will be fine tomorrow, but allow me to speculate a bit. If McCarron in particular is injured such that he needs to sit out the game versus Cleveland, who gets first team reps in that game. You've got to assume it is supposed to be McCarron's turn, since Peterman had his shot versus Carolina. Does McDermott swing for the bleachers and start Allen?
  19. I agree with the OP. I'm happy with the QB Buffalo drafted. However, one preseason game apiece is far too small a sample size to make any kind of valid assessment.
  20. I think DeLacey is going to backup Lorax. Humber backsup on t he weak side (Milano). Keenan Robinson is pretty flexible and could be a threat to Humber as the primary backup to Humber. He could also threaten Valleho as backup to Edmunds. He hasn't shown too much yet, but that may be because the defense is still pretty new to him.
  21. He's a perfect fit in Buffalo.
  22. I think there is a bit of missuse of the word "officially" in the thread title. It is officially in the mind of the OP and a few others. I don't think it has crossed Brandon Beane's mind at all. I think it is more likely than not that Buffalo keeps three QBs this season. I think Peterson has PS eligibility and may end up there. After the season, I could se Beane moving either Peterman or McCarron for picks in the 2019 draft, but I don't think it happens before next March or April.
  23. Benjamin, Holmes and Kerley are really Buffalo's only slow receivers. Benjamin is so big and strong, and has such a huge catch radius, the fact that he's not a burner doesn't really hurt him. He' can catch short passes, and he can get deep and high point a pass that a shorter CB has no chance to break up without pas interference. Holmes is another tall guy. He's not a physically dominant as Benjamin, but he's a decent possession receiver in addition to his special teams contributions. Kerley gets open underneath with his route running and short area quickness. He's probably not going to catch a lot of deep balls. The only other slow guy is Cam Phillips, and while he is a quality pass catcher, I think he is a victim of numbers when it comes to making this roster, especially after getting hurt. I wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo stashes him on IR. Reilly, Jones, McCloud, and Streater all have enough speed to be a deep threat (in the range of 4.4 - 4.5). Coleman is a burner, as is Foster if he can get out of his funk. It might be nice if Buffalo had one more burner make the team besides Coleman (Foster is on the outside looking in at this point), but if Coleman stays healthy, it is a luxury Buffalo can live without.
  24. Coleman's injury history consists of twice breaking his hand. This is definitely not a typical injury you associate with an injury prone player. I'm inclined to think it was just kind of a freak coincidence that he broke it twice.
