  1. The Patriots have started out slow before, only to come on and have a strong season, but one can hope. They do have some deficiencies that go beyond the wide receiver position.
  2. The light began to come on for the Bills in the second half last week. Unfortunately it was too little, too late to undo the damage of the first half. This week, we saw the necessary fire and discipline from the opening drive. It's very encouraging.
  3. It's a little early to tell, but I think I'm going to be pretty happy with both Tre and Josh.
  4. I suspect that Frazier was a little worried about the secondary being vulnerable with the weakness at the one CB spot. Maybe they saw evidence last week that their depth CBs arent' so bad after all. Pitts held up OK last week, and I think Ryan Lewis today was fine.. Knowing they can play means Frazier/McDermott can dial up a little exotic pressure.
  5. I don't know that they should be worried in KC, but it's almost a certainty that Mahomes will not maintain the pace that he's had thus far through the entire rest of the season, and part of the reason is that defenses will somewhat catch up to the things KC is doing differently because Mahomes is under center. I expect KC is going to continue to be effective, just not quite as explosive. Of course, Buffalo is not looking like anywhere near the offensive juggernaut that KC appears to be at the moment, so it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison Yeah, that was good to see. Forcing opponents to adjust to Josh Allen as a passing threat can only mean good things for the running game.
  6. Maybe they'll regret it eventually, but in a re-draft right now, I still think they go with Barkley. There are going to be some good QBs drafted next year too.
  7. Hmmm. Maybe that was Minnesota's problem. They thought they were on a bye week.
  8. I agree. There is going to be something of a race going on. Josh Allen is going to be learning and getting better, and defensive coordinators are going to be learning about him and trying to contain him. I'm not down on him at all, and I'm excited about the future. It is the combination of learning (Allen and opposing DCs) that is going to make the next several weeks interesting and exciting. I also agree about Allen's skill set. Opposing DCs were sometimes successful at game planning for Tyrod because his skill set was somewhat narrowly defined. Allen looks like a far more complete QB. That will hopefully make the game planning challenge for opposing DCs a whole lot tougher.
  9. When you have a rookie QB, the opposing team does not know what to expect in his first few games. A few more games into the season and opposing defensive coordinators are going to begin to have more extensive game film to study. That will enable them to game plan more specifically to counter his skill set. I'm thrilled with what Josh Allen is doing and I am very optimistic for the future, but as we move deeper into the season, that chess game thing is going to happen with respect to game planning.
  10. In comparison with the Minnesota game, Buffalo is almost the favorite.
  11. I love what I'm seeing out of Josh Allen. Of course he's a rookie and on a learning curve, but he's learning quickly. His skill set is potentially the match for the best QBs in the league. Now Beane can concentrate on building a team around him.
  12. Here you go: "Here's my pose for Madden."
  13. The Bills overcame a poorly officiated game today. There was also a personal foul called against a Buffalo player for helmet to helmet in a tackle of Cousins. There was a little bit of incidental helmet contact, butit was not direct in the least. And there was the call of a fumble when Allen tried to do a shovel pass to the running back crossing in front of him. Right. CBS's officiating expert basically called that one "bogus."
  14. Agreed. I love that he can, but don't do it again, please!
  15. Really? It may have been OK to put Peterman in late to hand the ball off, but it wouldn't have accomplished all that much. It would not have been that much of a favor for Peterman, and it certainly wasn't about "piling on." Did you see the play selection for the Bills in the second half? They were running clock, period. I am not about beating down Peterman at all, but Peterman has not demonstrated any ability to "show the youngin' how it's done."
  16. I have to give you credit, Like a Mofo. You called it. It hink it was luck more than anything, but you did call it.
  17. It may be that what will make me feel good at 4 PM will be leaving the TV after halftime to go do something else and get my mind off the game. I will be encouraged by any signs of future success the Bills can give me though.
  18. I'm in Bath, 2 hours to the west, and this area is a blend of Bills and Giants fans with others (especially Steelers fans) mixed in. I'm guessing the further east you go the more Giants influence you will encounter.
  19. A major factor in the Bills' offseason strategy will be what they think of Josh Allen's development through the season. Supposing they decide they need to draft another QB early, at that point they have to decide which of several possible choices they might make. Haskins has one strike against him in that Urban Meyer does not have a stellar record in sending his QBs on to have successful careers in the NFL. Tim Tebow had some modest success as an unconventional QB for a little while, but not what I would call a decent career. It may be that Haskins will break the mold, but he need to do a whole lot more than he has so far to show that his game will translate to the NFL.
  20. I guess he played better in the second half of the Chargers game than Vontae Davis did in the first half. Ryan Lewis has good athleticism too. I'd love to see wone more guy with some experience, but Buffalo won't be any worse off in the secondary than they were in the Chargers game, and they might be a bit better.
  21. Maybe he decided that if it became known he would give terrible interviews he wouldn't have to put up with that crap in the future.
  22. But they did give up a third for Tyrod.
  23. I don't think the Bills have the personnel to use a "big nickel" successfully. You've got to have a guy with some good measurables (size and athleticism) who mixes football intelligence and toughness. They don't have that. With Vontae Davis gone (and a disappointment before he left) they only have one quality starting CB.
