  1. I'm not sure that Brandon Beane would ever be inclined to overpay for a quality WR in a trade. As far as the draft is concerned, it's lean on top tier WRs, but is really deep at the position otherwise. It depends on what Beane is looking for. If Buffalo doesn't draft a receiver in the first, I like Riley Ridley in the second or third and KJ Hill in the third or 4th.
  2. This is kind of where I'm at. The Bills game against the Jets was a lot different than some of the other recent games. Yes, they had a different QB, and Barkley's experience was beneficial, but except for KB, the receivers caught balls, and they got separation. The difference is they added some speed. I'm not sure what the Bills thought they were getting when they put together the receiving corps they had to start the season, but thnhakfully figured out it wasn't working. They still need to upgrade in the offseason, but I think we're going to see more offensive variety going forward.
  3. Maybe people view it that way. It sure hasn't placated a lot of fans, however.
  4. This is only the second year for Housley/Botterill. The failure to rebuild before can't be laid at their feet.
  5. I don't believe so. In the NFL, the bottom line is winning. If Sean McDermott does not build a consistent winner in Buffalo he will eventually be fired. Terry Pegula will not buy "process" if winning does not accompany it. Process recognizes that in a city where losing has been a way of life fore well over a decade, the things that it will take to build a winner can't all be done overnight. Since they cannot, you need a deliberate stategy to accomplish it over time - process.
  6. I can buy that. My motive in posting it to begin with is that I think it's a relatively unintelligent way to try and bash the head coach.
  7. That certainly does happen, but the Bills were thin at linebacker with the release of Humber, and Thompson is familiar with the system and his responsibilities as a backup to Milano. I think the promotion from within says something about the confidence the Bills have in their ability to identify UDFAs after the draft who have potiential to actually make a contribution when they've had a chance to acclimate to the NFL. They needed to add a player, and I think they thought it would be better to promote than poach another team's PS, getting a player who would need time to learn what the Bills wanted from him.
  8. No, it wasn't. I posted because a number of fans have treated it that way, and their implication was derogatory.
  9. I figured this was the move to make to fill that 53rd roster spot. I'm also taking note of Thompson's replacement on the PS. He's an Ivy Leaguer, which is why he didn't make any noise in the draft process last spring. His size is not bad and he's a pretty good athlete. Obviously, the jump from Brown University to the NFL is a pig one, but he's got some tools and is very smart (plans on becoming a medical doctor when his NFL playing says are over).
  10. I was just watching NFL Live on ESPN. Post game interviews of the Indianapolis Colts had both players and coach mentioning the process a lot. The Colts have like a 6 game win streak. Obviously, the "Process" is not a guarantee of winning lots of games, especially for a team with lots of young players in critical positions and some talent holes in a few important positions (like the Bills, but the process is not a bad thing. It's just a methodical approach to building a winning team and culture.
  11. I think there was a hidden message in that gift. "I expect you at every practice, even if we have 2 feet of snow and you have to walk to get here." Just kidding.
  12. I love the finish. If you want the Bills to win next week, this couldn't have been better. The Jaguars were playing an emotional all out game and Roethlisberger popped their balloon. They should be completely drained and properly deflated for next week.
  13. I hope it isn't just to conform to the Rooney Ruyle.
  14. If I were in the boat with Jonah, I'd be worried about the prospect of being swallowed by a large fish.
  15. Obviously, fans have come down on both sides of the jacket issue. I find myself wondering about the history that we don't know. Whether good or bad, there is one. That would have far more bearing on the question of whether or not Ed Oliver could be a character risk as a high draft pick. I'm not talking about off field issues, but his locker room presence and his coachability.
  16. Jags are struggling. I think It is a good time for Buffalo to be playing them. It will be interestiung to me to see how the injury layoff has affected Josh Allen. I'm hoping there has been a benefit in his interaction with Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley and in watching them work under center and in the huddle. If Josh is to be Buffalo's QB going forward, it would be a terrific time to show som significant improvement.
  17. McDermott isn't going anywhere this offseason.
  18. Ed Oliver was being touted as something of a second coming of Aaron Donald, but this season it's become apparent he doesn't have the strength and doesn't play with the leverage of Aaron Donald. He's also had some injury issues and seems to be something of a prima donna. I'd pick Bosa between the two of them. BTW, Quinnen Williams is the new hot DT prospect.
  19. Agreed. A year ago draftniks were touting Bryce Love as a first round worthy RB in the 2019 draft, but he's had injuries and has struggled this year. He still may be a great prospect, but now he's a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
  20. "Release" sounds so much nicer than "cutting his arse."
  21. It's tough to find an offensive player ranked in the top half of the openning round of the draft this year. Some draftniks have Justin Herbert (QB from Oregon) going early, but there are rumblings he might go back to school. Other QBs may rise later, but are not highly rankied yet. There there are a couple offensive tackiles that some like (Greg Little and Jonahy Williams, but they are not sure things by any means (Greg Little has been criticized for his attitude and inconsistency). While the receiving position is deep in the draft, there are no blue chip prospects. If Buffalo picks top ten and picks an offensive player, they will almost certainly be reaching. Buffalo does have a huge amount of cap space going into the off season, and they are going to be major players. Hopefully, they can fill some holes with quality veterans. If the Bills are picking high in the draft, free agency should give them a lot of options with their first pick, either drafting a blue chip defensive player or trading down.
  22. I think the odds are against it given the degraded state of the offensive line. One of the negatives on Tyrod is the time it takes him to read a defence and decide what he's going to do with the ball. It led to a quite a few sacks even with his scrambling ability. He would have had less time this year before the pockiet collapsed. We'll see how the line does moving forward if Teller and Sirles continue to start in place of Ducasse and Mills.
  23. I think it is pretty much a given that if Buffalo has a top ten pick and stays put, they draft defense. That's just the way this draft looks. The top offensive linemen are Greg Little and Jonah Williams. Greg Little's consistency and effort have been questioned. Jonah Williams benefits from having great players all around him. The best WR is no higher than a mid first round value, and that's being optimistic. I'm not going to fret about it too much because Buffalo is going to be a MAJOR player in free agency. They may well be in a position to take the BPA, or they could trade down.
  24. I was going to seminary and we didn't have enough money to eat steak.
  25. My wife uses ketchup with steak.
