Does he have something in his contract that says he's not to be used in run support?
-
Jeremy White and Mike Schoop both like to pretend they are smart, so I can't imagine they would write like JS does.

I had a chance for two free tickets already. I decided it would be too hard to make the arrangements needed to make it happen. I serve as pastor of a small church wi9th a 9 AM service. The church is 2 hours from New Era Field. Next year, when I'm fully retired, I'll jump at that chance in a heartbeat.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why New England would not extend a left tackle who has been playing well and would cost them next to nothing. If he actually does become available, I would certainly take a look, though at that size, I think I'd consider moving him to the RT spot.

Ex-Bill, CFL stud WR Naaman Roosevelt's just asking...
TigerJ replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills got rid of Benjamin and Holmes as much because they want to see what the youngsters can do as the relative ineffectiveness of Benjamin and Holmes. If they were trying to mount a serious playoff run, they might consider an older, more experienced receiver. I just don't think they see that as a priority right now. I think the Bills think the guys they have can catch the ball well enough to get through the season. -

I don't see any compelling reason to do so. They play a very different kind of football in the CFL. It lends itself to inflated stats for passing and receiving. -
I'm not going to talk football with you, OP. That would probably turn out to be an exercise in futility. My only question is do you actually talk the way you write?
-
Yes, but the Bills need to be careful about the kind of contract they offer him. A multi-year deal with lots of guaranteed money ought to get them pause. A one or two year deal would be fine with a modest signing bonus.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being Chicken Little ("The sky is falling!" ) and 10 being ready to reserve my Hall of Fame induction ceremony tickets, I'm probably a 7. I think Josh Allen is going to be at least a solid starter who gives Buffalo a shot at the playoffs most years, and has at least a chance to bring home a Super Bowl at some point

Ah! deBeer and cheese. Makes sense. Lauderdale is exactly the kind of player you want on a PS. Extraordinary athleticism and potential, but just not ready to play yet.

What I want to know is how the Miami CB who tackled Josh Allen in the backfield (by the throat) managed to be in the stands rooting for the Steelers at the same time.

I imagine Taron will go on IR shortly. BTW, his shoulder has been an issue for weeks. He's been playing through it. I guess Taron and the Bills have decided it's enough of an impediment to his play on the field, he might as well have the surgery now, rather than wait until the season is over.

Almost certainly, unless Buffalo auditioned another center we don't know about.

WR Technique Q - Overthrow to Foster
TigerJ replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have never played WR, or organized football for that matter, so mine can hardly be considered an expert opinion, but deep balls like that are always considered a low percentage pass for a reason. The longer the pass attempt the more opportunity for some little (essential detail) to go awry. The distance the ball travels magnifies the effect of any ittle aberation that might occur. The receiver is nowhere near the catch point when the QB is letting go of the ball. Wind, the receiver's speed, tiny variations in the QBs mechanics and effort are all going to affect the play. QBs are not machines, and a football playing field is not a controled lab, so it is not possible for the pass to be completed with machine like consistency and precision. -
OK. I'll Say It-Allen will be best Bills QB ever
TigerJ replied to beacon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Predictions are always easy to make. I would not say it can't happen. I'll be thrilled for the Bills if it does, but my prediction (or the OP's) isn't necessary to make it happen. I'm content to wait for the future to play out in whatever way it does. I'll be thrilled if it does happen though. -
Bills sign DE Mike Love and CB Denzel Rice off of PS
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In December? Yes, it is that hard to find quality players in December. What's out there are guys who are older and washed up, or players who are young developmental typses who haven't been able to stick with a team yet. -
Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes

What an amazingly ignorant observation by Omar Kelly! -

I think not. Comp picks only happen if a player's contract expires and the player is not re-signed. (Then there is a complex formula that kicks in, taking into account free agents lost versus free agents signed, and their salaries among other things. Only the league knows the exact formula they use.) If a player is cut before his contract expires, he does not figure into comp picks. In the next off season, it is likely the Bills will be active players in free agency, and probably won't be racking up any comp picks because of it. Keeping KB probably would not have made a difference. -
Is Josh Allen faster than Tyrod Taylor???
TigerJ replied to Mac14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Taylor is faster. When Josh was running, it was mostly linebackers (Kiko) trying to run him down. That's a missmatch because Josh is a bit of an athletic freak for that size. He would have run through an arm tackle from a DB, but most DBs would be able to run with him. Tyrod could outrun a lot of DBs. Josh has a runner's vision though, and he's very elusive for that size. The combination makes him a nightmare for opposing defenses to try and contain. -
I want Barkley for my backup in 2019.

It's like Charles Clay is Brian Daboll's personal voodoo doll.

Is Brian Daboll a HC candidate in Green Bay?
TigerJ replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be a little surprised if Green Bay sought him out. It seems to me like teams would want a guy who has had a little more time and success as a coordinator, unless they see some particular outstanding head coaching quality in him. -
Josh Allen is always going to be a match up challenge for defenses. He's too fast and agile for players who are close to his own size or bigger, and too strong for smaller faster players.

Anyone have a video of Allen overthrowing foster?
TigerJ replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Deep throws like that are always going to be low percentage throws. Both the QB and the receiver have to be exactly on the same page, and lots of things can get in the the way of making a connection. When the QB lets go of the ball, the receiver is no where near the position where the catch is anticipated. -

A cross between Steve Young and Ben Roethlisberger would not be a bad thing.
