  1. It would be a "minor league" of course, and a dead end for the vast majority of players who sign up. The main downside is that it might draw a small number of players who are capable of going to college, and would really benefit from that experience. You play for 12 year (optimistically) and then you've got nothing but a high school diploma to try and make enough to live on for the next 35 years, while also dealing with any long term effects of injuris incured while playing.
  2. No. Private sector employers don't have to grant paid days off for national hollidays anyway, unless it's in a union negotiated contract. Federal holidays are a drain on the economy, and increase the tax burden.
  3. I think that what Tennessee did on offense was heavily influenced by head coach, Mike Vrabel' philosophy, not to mention Tennessee's personnel on offense. In Los Angeles, it's hard to say how much credit he should bet, versus Sean McVay for LA's potent offense, but it is safe to say McVay had an influence on him. It's also impossible (as it is with every first time head coach, to know if he's got the demeanor and make up to be a head coach. Head coach calls for a different set of skills than that needed for a position coach or coordinator. If I were you, Ice Bowl, I think you would want to remain optimistic until or unless LaFleur proves to not be up to the challenge. One thing is for sure - Aaron Rodgers, because of both his unique skill set and his strong personality is going to heavily influence what Green Bay's offense looks like.
  4. He would need to be officially licensed, and if he did that, he would be in direct competition with his employer, (the Bills) who market officially licensed NFL stuff already. There's no way the league or the Bills would allow that to happen.
  5. I think the Bills are already in agreement on Zo, and talking to Jordan Phillips. As fare as offensive linemen on that list, yeah they might want to sign ta few for competition, but nobody is a must have player. If they sign with sombody else, they can be replaced.
  6. I don't think that the strategy for McBeane is a great mystery moving forward. They need to significantly upgrade the talent level of the offensive line, add a few quality weapons for Josh Allen and continue to manage his development well. On defense, I think they need to get a little more physical. Personally, I'd like the defense to be a little more aggressive, but that is just personal preference. The youngsters on defense need to continue developing. Beane needs to keep adding talent as he is able.
  7. It is almost a certainty that Nick Foles will be starting somewhere next year.
  8. Zay's first year was a struggle for him. There seemed to be some confidence issues. He was much improved this past season, but he's still a work in progress. It's not at all unreasonable to expect significant improvement going forward. He does some things very well.
  9. With freshman QB Trevor Lawrence and freshman WR Ross, Nick Saban is going to be looking up at #1 for two more years after this.
  10. I wonder how much of the Titans' offensive philosophy is influenced by their defensive minded head coach.
  11. The whole article was enlightening. When the news broke that the Bills had signed a receiver who was kicked off his college team, that didn't sound very McBeane-like at all, but it looks as if he's had a genuine turnaround in his life. One little interesting detail that I caught is that hecame into his second season in the CFL "leaner" than he had been. I wonder if that leanness made a difference in his speed and quickness. His reputation is that of a strong, physical receiver, but he wasn't that fast. If he could cut a couple tenths off his 40 time, that could add a whole new dimension to his game for the NFL and the Bills.
  12. I think we just signed a taller version of AJ Brown. Good work. It is clear there are no real elite WRs in this draft. We should still be able to get a good one.
  13. Absolutely worth a look. He's got to know he's not going to get a big money deal. He would be at least a rotational player at 3 technique along with Harrison Phillips.
  14. Agreed. Now If he said, "I wish I had Alabama's offensive line," now that would have been a huge slap in the face. There is a decent chance he gets his wish next season.
  15. What? They don't tell the kids anymore about the king and queen of Spain who sponsored the quest of Christopher Columbus anymore? I know Columbus is no longer highly admired, but it is part of history.
  16. Currently, there are some real effective small receivers/gadget players in the NFL: Tyreek Hil for KC and Cohen for Chicago are two of several. Isabella is no smaller than them.
  17. I've been a Jones my whole life. I don't need to start.
  18. If he doesn't hire a new head coach quickly, there are two groups of people who are going to remember this, and react to it: potential assistant coaches, and opposing GMs. Potential assistant coaches will wonder if they could be held hostage in a head coaching change, and GMs will take it into consideration if Denver comes calling with requests to interview assistant coaches when they have a head coaching change.
  19. I think he should change his first name to Ferdinand.
  20. Cincinnati's cap room in the upcoming off season is 48 million - a little above the league average. They have 59 players under contract, so it will depend on how much they want him and how interested Uzomah is in testing the waters. Still, a big, athletic guy who can catch the ball? I'm interested.
  21. I would consider taking a developmental guy late, but not in round 2 or 3. McSorley could be a guy like that in the 7th. Justice Hanson from Arkansas State is another one. The thing is, it looks as if Buffalo is committed to keeping Barkley as a backup, and Anderson as a third stringer to continue mentoring Josh Allen. There's no way they will keep a 4th QB on the active roster. You might as well sign a UDFA to the practice squad.
  22. We have a winner! I think you can add to that-Allen is 100% committed team player, and Tyree Jackson shows evidence of being a "me guy."
  23. Danny Crossman for head coach of the Jets! Do it, New York!
