  1. Me too, except I'd have to learn more about Ed Oliver before I'd be comfortable with him.
  2. I think if the Bills were to draft a DT, there might be another one available that I would prefer. In Kiper's mock Ed Oliver is still available. I have some misgivings about him too, but he's certainly a possibility. Then there's Jeffery Simmons. The knock on Simmons has to do with an off field incident in which he was videotaped punching out a girl. That incident happened when he was in high school. He had no problems in college, and he was known apparently for his volunteer work. BTW, while I don't condone anyone for punching out a girl, it seems she was no saint either. In that same incident, she was arrested for distrubing the peace.
  3. Asside from a few elite DTs and edge rushers there are not a lot of prospects I can see Beane coveting so much he wouldn't move down a few spots. If the Bills are interested in a defensive tackle, Christian Wilkins and/or Jeffery Simmons have a good chance of being available. If they want a WR, DK Metcalfor N'Keal Harry are possibilities. If they want an offensive lineman, Cody Ford or David Edwards may be on the board. There is nothing so special about Jonah Williams or Greg Little that they are worth holding on to #9 overall. What kind of compensation in extra picks could we expect from a moive down 6 places? What does Washington have to bargain with?
  4. Being 66, it certainly catches my attention when someone younger than me meets his end. RIP, Turk.
  5. I don't wish for specifics. I'm just hoping for a Patriots loss. The more embarassing, the better. However, even a one point loss is acceptable.
  6. Up and comer seems to be a developing theme for McBeane coaching hires. I think McDermott has decided he likes an active, hands on approach that younger position coaches are better equipped to do. I'm OK with that too.
  7. We couldn't have done it without you.
  8. I wouldn't say I'm sold on Josh Allen, but I'm optimistic as I was when they drafted him. I think the odds have increased over the 2018 season that he'll develop into a franchise QB, but I don't yet think it can be set in stone.
  9. No, he won't blow anyone away, but he's a useful bottom of the roster guy. Maybe he has a little untappled upside that Bobby Johnson can bring out.
  10. Obviously he's familiar with the blocking techniques of d'Alesandris. Actually, I like that he has been an assistant under several different O-line coaches. It may have given him exposure to a variety of blocking techniques he wouldn't have received just working un der one guy for 20 years.
  11. How about the Panthers assistant defensive line coach, whoever that is?
  12. Belichick game plans based on matchups. I think other coaches may take into account the other team as a whole, but matchups are something the try to deal with after the broader concepts are established. I think Belichick goes into the planning room asking who the players are on the other team and "What can we do to take advantage." That's the first question that gets asked.
  13. The challenge for special teams recently has been the profound chan ges in thr rules. This is especially true for kickoffs. Rules changes affect both the kicking and the receivi9ng teams. It may be that one of Danny Crossman's major shortcomings was his inability to adapt well to the rules changes. I think mybe in this case it is an advantage to hire a guy who is fairly new to the coaching ranks as he might not be dragged down by attachments to old concepts as Crossman seemed to be. I don't care whether or not he's from Carolina.
  14. That is kind of my opinion. Hackett is West Coast, so the Packers offense won't be stuck with having to learn a lot of new terminology. In general, I think Marrone was a lot more conservative than Hackett. Also, Buffalo was Hackett's first pro gig, while in Jacksonvill, he was saddled with Blake Bortles as his QB. At the same time he had highly regarded running backs. It was a no brainer that the Jaguars were going to try and run the ball a lot.
  15. Buffalo has interviewed NC State guard Tyler Jones as per Walter Football. http://walterfootball.com/eastwest2019interviews1.php
  16. He didn't have what it takes to be a head coach, but he's probably fine as position coach.
  17. It's actually a code phrase for, "He made plays when his own teammates weren't doing much of anything to help out." Clips should offensive linemen not maintaining protection and wide receivers not demonstrating the awareness to come back to the ball when protection broke down.
  18. Yolo beat you to it. Maybe a moderator could merge the threads.
  19. I don't know all the stats, but I'm pretty sure that most of those former Bills players were dumped by the Bills before the current regime. They departed the Bills for various reasons. Maybe they weren't performing as needed (for whatever reason). Maybe there were cap issues. I know in some cases, the Bills changed offensive and defensive coaching staffs and schemes making some players a poor fit for the new system. The age of the cap is all about movement from team to team because the whole system is designed to make it difficult for teams to hold on to more than a very few great players. Andre Reed might be right, but I don't know how much you cn really blame the front office, and certainly the current front office can't be blamed for player movement prior to to 2017.
  20. 1-1 flying at half staff?
  21. Buffalo will be active in free agency, but will stick to mostly second tier or lower free agents. There will be more twenty something players signed than thirty something. I have no idea what kind of trades they will make in the draft. I imagine they might be open to trading down out of #9 overall. The sweet spot of this draft may be in the second and third rounds, and that's where they could want more picks. To that end they could bundle some lower picks together to move up from their fourth round pick, but that's just a guess. Beane has also demonstrated he can find potential starters among undrafted free agents (Wallace and Foster).
  22. That reminds me of a joke about an agnostic guy who fell off a cliff and managed to grab a branch sticking out of the wall of the canyon on the way down.
  23. Buffalo has an 18 year history of mediocrity on the football field interupted by one playoff berth last year, when they were one and done. I love the Bills and am optimistic for their future, but if one wants to, there are always grounds to knock the team.
  24. You're right. I hadn't checked the details on Lubick. He still doesn't have enough experience for my taste, but he does have four years as an NFL assistant WR coach and some time on the college level too.
