  1. The "Assistant Head Coach" designation was probably the kicker. Culley has had aspirations to move up the coaching ladder, and not he takes another step.I think there are some quality possibilities.
  2. What was Barnwell's prediction a year ago for the Bills?
  3. The video was of a high school incident, actually, after he graduated, but before he made it to Mississippi State. I don't condone it, but I also don't believe in taking away a guy's whole life because he did something stupid when he was a kid. In the same incident, the girl was arrested for disturbing the peace, and Simmons has been a choir boy during his college career. He was known for his volunteer work. https://mississippitoday.org/2018/11/28/jeffery-simmons-a-story-of-redemption/
  4. I'm guessing that's the main reason he was hired. Johnson knows his work with offensive lines and likes what he did when both were with Detroit. Johnson coached Detroit's tight ends at the time.
  5. I think he's clueless about Beane's plans for the off season and Josh Allen's development in his second season.
  6. I've read that while Harry can make highlight real catches, fights for the ball to make 50/50 catches and has excellent run after the catch ability, he really doesn't gain separation downfield. His highlight video showed all of that in living color. the only passes on which he had separation were short catches where the DB was playing soft. Hockenson actually gained more separation, though that might have been because he's a tight end and is not always covered by a CB. I think Hockenson will be a good one. Ximines might be a great edge rusher, but I didn't like the way his highlight video was done. It showed the end result, but not how he came off the line and beat the blocker. That's what I really want to see. Again, he's got to be doing something right to be as disruptive as he is. I'd just like to see the plays from start to finish. Henderson also looks like a good one. Ford is well regarded and Udoh showed well inb the Senior Bowl.
  7. My understanding is that Oliver actually played at abouyt 280 and is not as strong as Aaron Donald, the player to whom he has sometimes been compared. Rashan Gary also played at 280, but is a couple inches taller. Might he be able to carry an extra 20 lbs if he plays inside? Speculation is that Oliver is maxed out as far as his playing weight is concerned. The combine will tell a lot. I think some people under value Jeffery Simmons.
  8. The coat and hat look good on him. As far as his tenure in Buffalo is concerned, I guess Ralphie was being somewhat meddlesome at the time. His line about having a punt catcher instead of a punt returner was one of the long time classics.
  9. By any chance, does Anthony Nelson come with a genie? If so, count me in.
  10. Virtually nobody that I've seen (and I look at every mock draft I can find on the internet) has Bradbury going in the top 15, to say nothing of the top 8. Trent Murphy is the other issue. He was invisible in 2018, but he is under contract with some unpleasant dead cap issues if released. His ineffectiveness appeared to be connected with a longer than expected recuperation from injury. The Bills may be hoping he can become a factor in 2019. In any case, Clelin Ferrell would end up as a rotational player for the Bills. It would be an impressive rotation, however.
  11. Actually, I thought the same about Jawaan Taylor. I think both are more likely to end up at right tackle though Even if he's healthy, he's considered somewhat raw. It will be interesting to see his combine numbers, as it is for everybody. I'm especially curious about the speed of the big WRs, and Deebo Samuel.
  12. I'll grant that multiple posters have had a chance to check out a few college players, but the kind of in depth study opn the literally hundreds of possible prospects requires more time than any of us have unless it is our profession. I agree on Josh Jacobs. He's go a nice combination of speed, power and elusiveness, but it's hard to argue that any running back is worth a top 5 pick. Some would even suggest the Giants are regretting having taken Saquon Barkley as high as they did, as good as Barkley is. Now they're stuck with an old and questionable QB, andno sure route to getting better in 2019.
  13. I don't disagree, but that's a different discussion.
  14. This. Josh will take what Kelly tells him back to Jordan Palmer and David Culley and let them react to it. If they agree, it will be incorporated into the coaching that he's already receiving.
  15. Everything I said is based on reports. I haven't personally scouted anybody with a trained eye. If more than one or two on this whole message board say they have, they are probably telling a lie.
  16. The trade with the Redskins is not a new idea by any means. It kind of hinges on Denver. Denver is scheduled to pick 10th, but if they want to draft a QB and get wind that Washington wants to jump ahead of them to get their QB, they could pull a preemptive trade to get far enough ahead that Washington can't beat them to their QB. As for who they might draft with #15 and their 2 second round picks, there are a whole host of possibilities. It will also be affected by free agency. Dalton Risner would be another outstanding value at #15. Deebo Samuel would be a good pick at #40. Eric McCoy or Isaiah Buggs could be solid picks with #46.
  17. OK, let's have a little discussion about the players Buffalo might be looking at in the first round of the draft, barring a trade down. I think the list of possibilities includes: Ed Oliver, Jonah Williams, Greg Little, Jawaan Taylor, Jeffery Simmons, Rashan Gary, and Christian Wilkins. You can add more to the list with your post if you want, but that's not really the point of the thread. My questions I want to discuss are: Are there any prospects you like with absolutely no reservations? Are there any that you won't like under any circumstances? And, Are there any that you might be OK with if you see something in them between now and draft day that allays concerns you might have. For instance, I really have no reservations about Christian Wilkins except maybe he wasn't quite as dominant as you might hope with future pros lined up all around him. He might be a bit of a reach at #9 for that reason. There are none that I can't be happy about under any circumstances. Ed Oliver was highly disruptive as an interior pass rusher, but there are questions about his strength and coachability. I think he needs to put up a good number of reps in the bench at the combine and really shine in the interviews. Jonah Williams is an outstanding technician, but is not really physically dominant. I want to see him put up good numbers in the bench. Greg Little is said to have textbook measurables but might be inconsistent in his effort. He needs to have strong interviews. I want to see something that says he has passion for the game. Jawaan Taylor is massive and strong according to reports, but is a bit slower that some other prospects at OT. Jeffery Simmons can dominate on the field but has old video hanging over his head from a high school ncident where he beat up a girl. I want to see some more about him that tells me he's grown past that and it will not be a problem in the future. Rashan Gary Is a bit of a tweener (3 technique DT in a 4-3 and a DE in a 3-4 defense). He was also not terribly productive at Michigan and not especially coachable . I want to see where he owns up to his past and gives evidence he can grow into a 3 tech defensive tackle where he would be needed by the Bills. Let's see what you've got.
  18. Buffalo is going to be skewed toward spending on defense for a while unless they spend some big money on free agent linemen and receivers. Except for Shady and Ivory, they have a very young offense now: Five starters are former draft picks on their rookie deal. A couple more one, Robert Foster and Jason Croom are UDFAs, also on their rookie deal. The only real veterans besides Shady and Ivory who saw much of any time on the field were linemen who may be gone: Russ Bodine, John Miller, Jordan Mills. One or two of them are likely to be replaced by rookies. Unless Beane signs a lineman or WR to an exhorbitant contract, the offense is going to continue to be low priced until the youngsters prove their worth AND get renegotiated or get a second big money deal. That will happen eventually, but not this season.
  19. But that would never happen, right? Oh.
  20. Yeah. He's 34 now. In 2020 as a 35 year old, he would have to convince the Redskins or some NFL team to take a chance signing him to the kind of money he might hope for. Otherwise, he'll be stuck with a one year prove it deal and probably end up like Derek Anderson, backing up and mentoring some young stud QB somewhere. Nobody's going to invest long term on a 35 year old whose success in the league has been mixed.
  21. I wouldn't totally rule out Buffalo signing TJ as a UDFA and keeping him on the PS, but I don't expect it either. He is more likely to get drafted late by another team. There's no reaso for Buffalo to go chasing after a QB in the draft when they have their QB threesome set for next season.
  22. Agreed. I don't see Derek Anderson being named QB coach in the near future, barring McDermott becoming disgruntled with Culley's work. So far, McDermotts seems fine with Culley. On the other hand, I don't see Josh Allen needing two veteran mentors in 2020. At that point I would expect to see a young QB on the PS. I do think Derek Anderson is potentially a QB coach in the NFL.
  23. Kellen Moore was drafted 7 years ago this spring. He went from player in 2017 to QB coach in 2018, and now will be OC in 2019. Garrett had better watch out. Jerry may decide to make him head coach at age 30. LOL.
  24. Yes. His current position, and the position he says he is most comfortable in is right tackle, but I think he's played everywhere on the line except maybe left tackle.
  25. I don't have any prospects in mind that I just "gotta have." Deebo Samuel is growing on me though. I think he brings all kinds of versatility You could line him up wide or in the slot. You could put him in the backfield and hand the ball off to him. He's a polished, disciplined route runner who gets separation and doesn't drop balls. I think Daboll could have lots of fun imagining new ways to use him.
