  1. I think a team can approach free agency and the draft with priorities, but can get frustrated pretty quickly if it get's too locked in to specifics. It may be OK to want to sign a tackle and a guard in free agency and then draft your center, I think a good GM has to be able to feel his way a bit to sense where the best values are as free agency develops. Maybe the tackles don't like your team and agents for the guards you like have set the price point far beyond what he thinks the value is, but a real good value becomes available on a quality starting center. What do you do? You sign the center, of course, and shift your plans toward drafting a tackle and guard. Analytics can be a real useful tool, but if a GM has only analytics and no instinct, no ability to improvise, I think he fails.
  2. Yeah, it's a fool's game to wait and hope that you can have the division championship, conference championship and Super Bowl title just handed to you. If the Bills want it, they will have to go get it. It's always been that way. I long for the day when we don't see Brady or Belichick in the league anymore, but if Buffalo doesn't work their collective butt off, somebody else will take Bradichik's spot as king of the hill when they're gone anyway.
  3. Meh. I'm OK with Williams and wary of AJ Brown. I don't think he's going to have an impressive pro career.
  4. Unfortunately, most great players don't willingly leave the sport as a player. They stop when nobody will play them anymore. In some ways, that could be something to look forward to. Kraft finally decides to give in to Belichick. Belichick, trying to prove he's the GOAT coach, decides he's going to make Brian Hoyer (or some other scrub) the centerpiece of his offense and cans Brady. Brady gets mad and publishes a tell all book revealing there is spite and pettiness all through the organization from owner on down. I might even read that book!
  5. Not only boring - heard on TV - worst ratings in the last decade. What it amounts to is America is getting tired of New England. Lot's of fans probably figured New England was going to win, so why bother watching. If the NFL wants to have a healthier outlook, they need to figure out some way to hasten the demise of the Patriot dynasty. Just my opinion.
  6. I hate the Patriots. That is all.
  7. OK Go Rams. If he'd been born in Moscow, it would still be, Go Rams!
  8. The time issue seems to be a major question. If Chad Hall was liked so much early on, why did it take so long for him to be named to the position. On the other hand I can see some of the reason for liking him. As an assistant position, Hall may have had the lion's share of the developmental prospects like Robert Foster, while Robiskie might well have worked with the established veterans like Kelvin Benjamin.
  9. If Bridgewater is on the market, he might be successful with a new team. Foles definitely has to go to the right team. He's not the most mobile guy so he needs a good O-line and benefits from an offense that facilitates quick reads (which he can do).
  10. I can't find anything that will let me click to hear the interview, but I think Josh Allen probably made sure his listeners knew he meant no disrespect, and had heard great things about Pat Mahomes. But he's a competitive guy and is curious about who could actually throw further. I'd love to see Mahomes take him up on it. It would have been a fun addition to the skills competition at the pro bowl.
  11. Yeah, he might enjoy losing in Florida sunshine.
  12. That's an eye opener. He was 7 years younger than I am.
  13. After a real bad loss, I may avoid TBD for a couple days. Otherwise, life goes on.
  14. He was a bridge QB until Buffalo could come up with something better. Beane took a chance a year ago by getting rid of Tyrod before the draft, but there were cap issues to be dealt with. No ill will, but he proved in his time in Buffalo0 that he was never going to be the long term answer.
  15. I assume he had been accepted, but was not yet signed up for classes. Is that better?
  16. So, you're saying they will do pretty much what they did last year. OK. IMO, there is one constant that they strive for. They want players who LOVE the game of football and will pay whatever price they need to pay to reach their full potential. Skill set, athleticism and college production all play into their choice, but they won't draft anybody that they don't think is ready to work hard.
  17. Rex thought all he needed to produce a winner was his defensive scheme and a bully attitude. He was 100% wrong.
  18. He was video taped punching out a girl between high school graduation and matriculating in college. By all accounts, he has turned over a new leaf, has been a model student at college, and is known for his volunteer work.
  19. We'll see how he goes through the pree-draft process. In other sources I've read about some inconsistent effort and play. I think he needs to interview well at the combine.
  20. No going yo change your mind, but he was personable and should respect for the Bills and Josh Allen in the interview today.
  21. Josh Allen has something of Cam Newton's skill set right now, but I don't think that is necessarily his long term goal. I think he wants to be more of a passer. The runs are still going to happen, but I think they may become less frequent.
  22. I think to some extent, they promote from within, so the new coordinators are well versed in the systems. The head coach and Brady have been their forever. Josh McDaniels has been there a long time apart from his disaster in Denver. Thus their continuity has been better than most.
  23. One question is whether Palmer really wants to be a QB coach in the NFL. Doing what he's doing, he is his own boss and sets his own schedule. Who knows what he's actually earning, but the life of an NFL coach is pretty grueling. For five weeks in the summer you are separated from your family at training cam. Then you have long work weeks during the season with film study and game planning in addition to actually working with the players. Then you're involved with the pre draft process and offseason workouts, OTAs, and minicamp. If you're obsessed with football and your family is on board, fine, but it's a pretty big sacrifice with very little job security otherwise.
  24. One obstacle to Derek Anderson becoming a QB coach for the Bills has been removed. David Culley has departed the Bills for Baltimore, where he adds the title "Assistant Head Coach" along with WR coach. It would be an interesting relationship Josh could have with Derek Anderson: a former colleague and confidant, who is now your position coach. It could be really good.
  25. Mark Glowinski, free agent guard for Indianapolis, who has been mentioned as a possible pickup for the Bills, is no longer a free agent. As per One Bills Live, he has signed a three year extension with Indianapolis. No link. Oops - missed Yolo's thread on the same subgect. Mods - please delete or merge.
