Volume is always even for me unless the last number ends in 5....that’s okay.

    27, hell no.  25....yep!

I am the exact same way.  Do that for setting temperatures too 😆

My old roommate knew I did this and would always f*** with me by turning the volume to some particularly annoying number.

We can argue back and fourth, the fact of the matter the Bills agree we need to get to the QB with the drafting of Epenesa in RD 2 last season, Rosseau RD1, Basham RD2 in this years draft. How in the world is sacks overrated/Lazy to judge for an edge rusher? LOL

The way I worded my reply was snarky...didn't mean for it to be.

What I mean is that just looking at the number of sacks Jerry got (and has gotten recently) doesn't mean that he hasn't been a good pass rusher.  You mentioned Tampa in the Super Bowl.  They killed Mahomes because the pressure came from everywhere, not just one guy.  They're investing in the line to try to get consistent pressure from more than just one side because that (hopefully) results in sacks/turnovers instead of just pressures & QB hits.  Jerry does what he can more often than not but if a QB can just sidestep a bit or move up in the pocket because the rest of the line is getting dominated, then we're wasting his efforts.  It's no surprise that his best sack numbers were when we had Mario, Kyle and a good version of Dareus.

Again sorry for the tone...I'm just a big Jerry supporter 😎

I don't think Hughes isn't going to see as much playing time this year.   In fact, I think there is a good chance he is traded from the team before the regular season starts.  His play has declined substantially in my opinion and he just isn't a difference maker any more.   Seems reasonable to rotate the young guys in for Jerry's position until someone really stands out as the clear outperformer.

I voted Addison for practical reasons.   Though I am hoping it is one of the young guys who has a breakout season.

This is not a good take...

Really?  Let me just ask you, how much has Murphy’s contribution been since he was signed? Let’s take a look at Norman, how about the guaranteed money to sign our inactive 3rd-ish string running back or the 10M a year for a non-Star at 1 tech, maybe take a look at last years defensive disaster he managed to put out there, with all of his lineman he signed being so bad they were forced to take pay cuts or leave, this is the Messiah you are following?  He signed exactly one starting player this offseason, a 34 year old “speed” receiver after releasing one, who could have been restructured for far less based on his new contract.   Which, hey, let’s talk about 9M a year for Brown?  How about that deal?  Man, this guy is greatness defined.

And he re-signed 3 starters...two of them being very good starters and at outstanding price tags.  As far as Sanders...I would tend to think that most here think he's an improvement over Brown and even if we kept Brown he'd be gone after this year anyway so what's the difference?  What other free agents would you have wanted us to sign that wouldn't have been categorized as Beane spending money poorly...that's paraphrasing your 1st post here.

If you don't like Edmunds, that's fine and is a pretty easy argument to defend quite often last year but to say Beane is objectively bad at contracts is just wrong.  Sure there have been some misses but if 100% perfection in a league that very rarely gets it perfect is your standard, then you must be a load of fun to watch a game with.

  5. Probably not but that shouldn't take away from his time as a Bill.  Jerry has been one of my favorites for quite a while no matter what his stat line looks like.  He still plays at an outstanding level and plays his rear end off all the time.  Hoping some of the new blood can get pressure on the QB this year so we can talk about Jerry's sack numbers instead of QB pressure rate.

As Buffalo Bills fans, we have a history of all-time great running backs (Cookie Gilchrist, OJ Simpson, Thurman Thomas).  Even during the playoff drought, we had two potential future Hall of Famers on the roster (Marshawn Lynch, LeSean McCoy), a couple first round picks (Willis McGahee, CJ Spiller) and the extremely popular Fred Jackson.  Then you have Travis Henry, who ran for 1400 and 1300+ in back to back years.

It's tough for people in this city to accept the facts, because for so many years THIS POSITION was pretty much all we had on offense.

Outside of fantasy football, the running back position just isn't that important anymore.

You need to go back 7 years before you find a Super Bowl Champion where an individual running back (Seattle/Lynch) was the primary attack of the offense.  Then probably another 10 years before you find one again (Pittsburgh/Jerome Bettis).  The Patriots dominated the last two decades with a by-committee approach, where backs are expendable and exchangeable depending on gameplan.  The RBs with the rings over the last 20-25 years are guys like LeGarrette Blount, Damien Williams, CJ Anderson and Sony Michel.

The guys the Bills have on their roster can be effective, with better blocking up-front and a better gameplan for getting them involved.  I'm not worried about this position in the slightest.

This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say.  We've been pretty spoiled at the RB position over the years so maybe we have gotten a bit spoiled.

I would love to see a Venn diagram of posters that think Motor is total garbage and ones that think Williams is the answer...I think it would be a single circle.  Williams might very well have some potential but the TBD trend of seeing a guy that did something in garbage time or a meaningless game and then anointing him as a savior is really weird to me.

  7. Tough to disagree with the post & very well thought out.  I think Cleveland (at least on paper) improved more than we improved but I still think our offseason has been a success considering I didn't think we would re-sign Milano and Williams.  I still think Buffalo is the better team but definitely think that Cleveland closed the gap.  Not taking possible injuries into consideration I would say that if they don't win that division then it was a disappointing season.  Same for Buffalo but that's obvious 😎

The Bill's worst unit was going after the Qb (pass rush). Was a huge weakness all year. Balanced teams or very good QB teams (Chiefs) could get there way with us last year.  The CB unit McDermott can build a low tier CB into looks like a good one. Levi Wallace might not be the best player but that's McDermott strength even going to Panthers as a DC days. He might be one of the best secondary coaches in the league.

Before draft told lots people in person Bill's won't draft a rb. But who knows there plans.  Singletary was the 11th most explosive rb. Good blocker. Moss was the best rb blocker in the nfl last year. Beane in his press I think said there is room to grow and trust him on it.

TE could be a little weak love Know as well as room to grow. Love the new TE they brought in.

Beane and McDermott had a plan in this draft. Fully trust them. They built this team well and should be good for a long time (imo).

Couldn't agree more.  There were a bunch of players in the draft that I really liked and wanted to see us pick but at the end of the day...what the heck do I know!  We shouldn't be content with the recent success that we've had but at the same time I do think they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I liked the picks and I'm happy that we weren't in dire need of any one position in particular considering this draft was one of the worst from a talent pool and talent evaluation standpoint.  And in spite of that, our 1st two picks are objectively talented!  If Rousseau had 2020 tape, I don't think he would have been even close to available at 30 and Basham's 2019 tape was nearly as good.  Position of need (both short term and long term) has been addressed without reaching or having to use draft capital.  They might not be 100% ready right away but who is?  They may not end up being great but who the heck knows.  That's how the draft is and how it has always been.  I'm sure a lot of the criticism is rooted in a love for this team so that's understandable but everyone...including the optimists...just needs to take a breath & TRUST THE PROCESS.

He’s a bad human, has iffy hands, can only run a fly route. If he’s drafted, a big if, it’s because of his height speed that’s pretty much it

How is he a bad human?  Not disagreeing, I just might not know something about him.  Late round picks aren't slam dunks, they are often upside players and he has quite a bit of upside in my opinion.

2020 NFL GM of the Year and widely regarded as one of the top front offices in all of sports. A team that some pundits have stated would be a shock to miss the playoffs in 2021 (in the AFC).

...let's not trust the professionals though.

"I read Walter Football's 2021 draft primer, listened to 3 NFL draft podcast episodes and watched 20 college games this year with my amateur eyes...and the Bills are horrible at drafting."

Ugh. Smh. Can't some of you just enjoy this without being so overly critical? The results of this draft won't be known for years. We picked 30th, not 3rd. Smile a little.

My favorite comment of the draft so far.

My only comment is, outside of Dan Orlovsky and the rare appearances by Ryan Clark, NFL Live is completely unwatchable.

The WORST show about football on TV.

Laura Rutledge and Marcus Spears should never be hired to discuss football in any capacity.

  12. Great post!  This is why I love the draft...there will be a guy I've never heard of before and then instantly become enamored 😄

My other new late round receiver that I want in a Bills jersey next year is Tamorrion Terry.  I've seen lots of analysis that says his floor would be that of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and that would definitely be okay by me.

I am the only person on this entire message board who had Josh Allen as my #1 overall player on the 2018 Big Board before the draft.

I am arguing with a bunch of posters on here who wanted Josh Rosen instead of Josh Allen in 2018.

What's hilarious is that I actually know what I'm talking about...most people on here do not. If this message board was in charge of the Bills, Josh Rosen would have been the selection in 2018.

I am 3 years ahead of the curve on Josh Allen. I was on the Josh Allen bandwagon before 1 poster on here ever was.

Okay everyone, we can all be quiet now.  Someone liked Josh in 2018 so clearly any disagreement with him should be met with ridicule and derision.

Regarding your argument that some posters don't think we should have a great dual threat back...I think they would love that, but are saying that using a first round pick and especially trading up to get one is not ideal.  For every McCaffrey and Saquan, there's a Kamara, Aaron Jones..heck...Thurman was a second rounder in an era that placed massive value on RBs.

  14. Man, I really Hope we trade Edmunds today.  Okay not really, but it comes up in just about every post so I figured what the heck.

I love draft day & have for a long time regardless of where the Bills pick because I absolutely love football.  It's pretty cool to see the reactions of the draftees, the fans and the talking heads and consequently I find some of the most annoying sports people to be those that go out of their way to say "DERRRR I don't care about the stupid draft!!!!".

On a different note...what network are all of you going to be watching for draft coverage?  I'm a little town because I actually sort of like Mel Kiper but really can't handle Chris Berman (not even sure if he's going to be part of it) so I think I will opt for the NFL network.  Can't go wrong with Rich Eisen, even though he's a Jets fan 😉
