  1. Wait, what's wrong with Antonio Brown's character? He's been a little distracting a couple of times, but he's not in the same conversation as OBJ.
  2. That's always a concern. Heck, that's a concern for players on rookie contracts since generational wealth can be subjective. The fact that Beane and McDermott have been pretty solid with personnel leaves me optimistic. At worst, I think Mack is the second best D-lineman in the game and it's worth the gamble.
  3. Actually yes - that entire D was a joke. So many posters love to talk about how great our D was under Schwartz but will also say that Mario was a bum (I'm not saying that's you)...perhaps our D was very good because...I don't know...we had a great pass rusher?
  4. Um, yes he is. I don't get the Mario hate either. He was badly misused when Rex came to town but before that he was a very good player. Elite pass rushers change the entire defense.
  5. You have to give respect to get respect. My favorite part is that the President, why claiming to be a fierce patriot, knew about 7 total words to God Bless America. Makes me think that it's not about patriotism and he actually just really, really enjoys making everything about himself. He's a charlatan and an absolute joke.
  6. I'm fine with the Celtics, mostly neutral about the Bruins. Absolutely despise the Red Sox but I am a massive Yankee fan. I missed Aaron Boone's game 7 home run because I had...um...consumed a bit too much booze to cope with what I thought was going to be a loss. Also agree with what someone else said earlier. Despite the Pats and the Sox, I really love the city of Boston and New England as a whole. As long as I can keep sports out of the conversation, I've always found Bostonians to be pretty cool and definitely can have a good time.
  7. Something random...do you happen to remember the play where Lonnie decided that it was a good idea to look behind him for a while and was absolutely obliterated by a player that was...not behind him.
  8. I loved the Phillips pick...absolutely loved it. Having said that, he's nowhere close to Suh, regardless of stats. He looks like a really good player but Suh was a Heisman finalist for a reason. I remember his performance in the Big 12 championship game against Texas and he wasn't just the best player on the field, he was the best player in the country.
  9. I give the Bills a slight pass for Maybin because overall that was a solid draft for them (Wood, Byrd, Levitre).
  10. Surprised no one mentioned this before now. At least we turned the 1st that we got back into Eric Wood, but it was still awful and I can't believe they didn't pay him since he's such a premium position. The contracts they gave Dockery and Walker that year would be overpaying in 2018...but let's dump someone that's a hall of famer.
  11. Didn't dawn on me that we could have had Rodgers with the pick in the following year's draft. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some bleach to drink.
  12. Loved Sam but Edmunds is a freak of nature. If he's coached up and plays up to his potential then the sky is the limit. Reminds me of LaVar Arrington but hopefully he can stay healthier.
  13. Totally agree. I don't know how much it affects any play on the field but I love seeing guys embrace the fans, the weather and everything else that the Bills are. Tre is from a climate pretty much the opposite of Buffalo but I remember videos of him playing around in the snow before the Colts game...freakin love it. Really? I don't mind Murph at all, but Kelso annoys me pretty often. In his mind I don't think any penalty EVER called against Buffalo has been legit.
  14. I started following football more closely, and becoming a Bills fan after the good days so that eliminates a lot on the list. For me it's Fred and it's not even close. The poll isn't about who the best RB is/was, it's about who is your favorite. Henry, McGahee, Lynch and McCoy are all better running back but I freaking love Fred. Great story, great guy, and a player that squeezed everything out of the talent that he had.
  15. I'm glad I read all of the comments before posting because it would have sounded exactly like your post otherwise. It's exactly what I was thinking watching the video. I liked picking up Star and love where we drafted Phillips but was pretty concerned about the pass rush because they're not really pocket collapsing guys but combined with Edmunds, I'm intrigued. I wouldn't be stunned if he led the team in both tackles and sacks this season.
  16. While I do think that the coaching staff did a great job with the roster we had, I agree with you too. Our plus/minus from last year will be very tough to repeat especially some of the well timed take aways (Tampa) and calls that went our way (Atlanta). If AJ somehow has the team in playoff contention, I don't see him getting benched...but I don't see us being playoff contention so I wouldn't be surprised if what really happens is somewhere in the middle of what Barnwell thinks will happen and what really happens. I'm torn because since the draft, I've become pretty excited to see what Allen can do (I did not like the pick at the time) but if he's in early in the season that probably means the Bills aren't very good. Or it means he's amazing...I'll hope for that!
  17. I thought this was an interesting read. I've always thought Bill Barnwell was pretty solid. Thoughts? http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23377469/projecting-first-starts-five-2018-nfl-draft-round-1-quarterbacks
  18. Forcing people into positions definitely didn't work for him in the past.
  19. It's tough to have great footwork when the pocket collapses after about a second.
  20. I'll take Robert Foster for now. I'm drunk on Bills optimism...and beer...but I'm loving that pick up right now.
  21. I rolled my eyes at the arm strength talk leading up to the draft...who cares if he can throw it 80 yards. But if a receiver has a little separation on a seam or post (like in the videos of him), then I'm sold. I hope to watch him throwing frozen ropes into the end zone for 15 years.
  22. I hated the pick when they made it, and dreaded that he would be the pick leading up to the draft but that was based largely on what I read. I have watched a ton of his tape since the draft and he is quickly growing on me. His offensive line looked absolutely dreadful...he's running around constantly and he loses almost nothing on his velocity when he's on the run. He's not Rodgers (no one is or ever will be) but he is excellent and keeping the play alive and making a throw on the run. I'm not going to say I love it yet but I'm starting to.
  23. If that happens, the players should immediately get a new president of the NFLPA.
