  1. I like the moves, esp Watkins, it was the smart long term business/football decision. It appears as though the Pegula's/Brane/McDermott have a long term plan and it will require patience, esp from the fans. Yes it is unfortunate Watkins has moved on but one could argue he is injury prone, thus far ribs, hip and foot twice have kept him out of games. Th Bills werent realistically going to the playoffs this is so moving Watkins might cost us what, one game, maybe. So we go from 6-10 to 5-11, so what. If by some miracle Watkins doesnt get hurt this year and has a breakout season, so what, under that sceanrio, we would have to pay a huge tab to retain him here. Would Watkins give us a material home team discount, zero indication he would. We got something for Watkins and miss him one more meaningless season in terms of making the playoffs.
  2. Good to see again Shaw66, your posts on the old BBMB were always entertaining and insightful. My only comment is everything you wrote about the Pegula's is based on a lot of assumptions, reasonable assumptions and I certainly hope everything you wrote is accurate. I debated several here yesterday that though if the Bills go 5-11 or worse over the next two years the Pegula's would fire coaches and front office, i think that is rubbish. This is a rebuild and I think the Pegula' are in it for the long haul, no quick magic fixes. Unless the Bills are an utter embarrassment on the field as they were with the Rex era, McDermott/Beane are going anywhere for a long time.
  3. Only one game I can recall, the game versus Detroit where he turned a Kyle Orton INT into a major gain to keep the drive alive.
  4. So I guess that means DiMarco, Harris and Holmes wont be on the roster come week #10.
  5. I agree with the article, certainly frustrating for Bills fans for the 2017 season but they were the correct moves, more so the Watkins trade.
  6. Actually I don't think it is setting him up for failure as much as it is setting him up to prove himself without his go to WR. If he is really "set up to fail" because of one player than he isn't the franchise QB we are looking for anyway. And what was Sammy's great contribution last year, 430 yards and 2 Tds, so setting up for failure seems to be an exaggeration to begin with.
  7. It could be a tank, too many variables and lack of real information on what has been going on since the new regime has taken over. Next year with a 1 2 3 and 7rd round pick added the Bills could easily move up and get a real shot at if not the best QB candidate one of the top 2 or 3. Maybe with 2 #1s and the other new picks they could move to the top of the draft, that is of course if we aren't naturally at the top of the draft, a mighty battle between the Bills, Browns and Jets.
  8. Three very legit reasons to trade him. 1) He has been hurt far too often. 2) Last year of his contract. 3) If by some miracle he stays healthy and has a great season, god only knows how much he is going to cost. Is there ANY indication he would give the Bills any hometown discount? None that I can tell. So what is the difference with Sammy on the Bills or not this year, MAYBE with him we can eek out a 7-9 season, so what does that accomplish, nada. Anyone that really thought having a POETNAIL superstar (if healthy) like Sammy would make a difference beyond some season tickets sales and a game or two is kidding themselves.
  9. "Wrong", yeah ok, that is your opinion, we shall see how's opinion is correct. It doesn't take any rocket science to figure out if you embark on a rebuild it will take a few years. I believe they most likely would have kept Ryan if the product on the field had not been an uter embarrassment. Everyone know, esp the Pegula's to expect very little in the W/L column for at least the new two years.
  10. s I posted earlier, Pegula(s) will not fire anyone for the next two years unless they are an utter embarrassment to the franchise as was Rex. They have most likely already "signed off" on a rebuild. This is a brave and imo, the RIGHT move by the Pegula's. They took their time, weren't swayed by smooth talking promoter (Rex). They are giving this new regime alL the tools they want AND A REASONABLE AMUNT OF TIME to prove themselves.
  11. I totally disagree, the Pegula's aren't dumb, they know this is a rebuild, will give them three years easy...unless they prove total incompetence during the season as did Rex.
  12. What have we added so far, a 1,2 3, 7th rnd picks, Sammy was going to be too much $ anyway if he remained healthy. I like the move. Poor Tyrod Taylor, this is going to really hurt his big payday without his go to WR. I think that is another signal the Bills are ready to tank this year and load up with a real POTENTIAL franchise QB. Purge the Whaley/Rex era. The new regime is going to own this legacy 100%, we will see what happens 2-3 years from now. I lie the gamble, maybe Brady will have retired finally by then. Dolphins going other direction, all in this year. Jets and Bills, we will see in a few years which has a better FO/coaching.
  13. Yates has actually won a post season NFL playoff game, so he is at least proven to be "serviceable". Certainly can say the same thing about Cardale. Cardale is bigger, less motivated EJ Manuel. And them both of them, can you fix their inaccurate arms? Highly unlikely. Good thing to ship Cardale off, send a message to the rest of the team.... reports were out he was more interested in flying back to Ohio than succeeded at TC. We should be happy we got anything for Cardale. One more wasted Whaley/Rex legacy pick.
