We wouldn't and according to https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/darius-slay-wont-commit-as-to-whether-he-would-have-reported-to-the-eagles we'd get money.

The other wrinkle relates to the ability of the Bills to play hardball with Slay. If Slay fails to report, a portion of his $8.745 million signing bonus could be recovered by the Bills, even though the Bills paid none of it. It’s a simple proposition. The signing bonus represents advance compensation for future services. Failing to provide those services exposes the player to losing some of that compensation.

Interesting, so in theory this could all be a potential money grab or do I not comprehend all the nuances?

     ok.

I’ll take a guy who is a professor in economics and has an impartial book detailing the economic impact of sports facilities and franchises published over a simple claim the stadium is “cost effective”.

Over 60% of the stadium is funded by the public.

On top of that, it was no coincidence this was immediately pushed through when Kathy Hochul become Governor of the state.

There is a significant trend in sports franchises not making the public front the majority of the cost. On average it’s around 30-35% publicly funded. Ours is the complete opposite. Around 60/40.

Furthermore MetLife stadium, UBS Arena and SoFi stadium were all entirely privately financed.

    It can easily be done.

Especially for owners or groups who are already billionaires.

Cost of living has skyrocketed whilst the income doesn’t match. On top of insane price increases for most events the public/fans attend and they’re making money hand over fist. You then have all other revenue, TV deals etc

They make their money back. Exponentially.

But sure. It’s a great deal for the regular  Joe’s to be paying the majority of

Your wrote "pro stadium builds"..."worst he has ever seen".  Read to me you were addressing the physical stadium. Now you are talking about financing, maybe that is true if you are talking about financing which I as a NYS non-tax payer could care less about.

Xavier has 4 more games played with 31 more catches, 144 more receiving yards and 1 less reception TD. Xavier also has 28 more rushes for 189 more rushing yards and 3 more rushing TDs. Based on those numbers alone think the trade up wasn't that great of a deal to me, yet maybe can ask Chiefs fans what they think about Worthy?

If you think it was a good trade for Coleman, we will disagree.

Trading up for Worthy isn't working out well for them. He's on pace for 600 yards and has 1 TD. That's not a trade up in the 1st round type of outcome at all. Chiefs fans are annoyed with him and his role in the offense.

It is all relative.  I really dont care what chiefs fans think about Xaiver, i would be dumbfounded if they were as displeased as Bills fans are with Coleman.   Keon is a borderline bust, especial;y considering where he was drafted.

I do not think its the slam dunk move that you seem to think it is.  Considering Keon suffered a 4 week wrist injury in his rookie year, I think he's comparably productive and has more upside than does a situationally gimmicky player.  As it is, I'd take Josh and Keon over Patrick and Xavier.

You might not consider it a  is not a slam dunk but I certainly do. A starter that was benched for 2 games?

Why would they open the stadium after the final game?

Because people would visit it, like a football shrine.  What I dont want to happen is the houston situation, the old  Astrodome "7th wonder of the world" next door to Reliant Stadium, they haven't opened it up for years and cost the county $5 million/yr as it decays.

I would pay to walk around the old stadium just for the memories.  I assume it will be torn down and used for parking, heard that before in Heston.

Oh Definitley, I’m aware he’s forking out some cash. Was a bit in jest in terms of the peanuts comment.

I did however watch a guy on YT who’s an expert on pro sports stadium builds and highlighted Highmark 2 is the worst he’s ever seen. Take that for what it’s worth.

I dont take some "guy on YT who's an expert on pro stadium builds" worth a damn.  Say what you want but the Bills and NYS took a lot of care and professional trying to maximize the most cost effective/fan viewing/access venue.

Shouldn't be an automatic win, period. Their defense is legit good and Judkins is a superstar in the making at RB. If the Browns come in and play sound defense and pound the rock, they very well could win that game. Definitely a team we need to score early on and force Sanders or whoever is taking snaps that day have to throw to come back.

I think everyone watching the NFL this year, especially Bills fans, know is no such thing as an "automatic win".  We learned that, AGAIN after the Miami debacle.

  8. 5 minutes ago, Virgil said:

I honestly wonder if we win that game if Queen doesn’t get that late hit on Josh and Bosa doesn’t get the strip sack.

And why did it have to come to that?  We were slugs prior to those happening.

Exclude the two big plays of the game and almost every NFL game  you can turn a victory into a defeat.  We beat them on BOTH sides of the ball, our O Line, especially up the middle was outstanding and put a total damper on the Steelers and the highest paid defense in the NFL/

I think we played well yesterday but I also believe the Steelers being inept covered up a lot of the same issues we've been seeing. We definitely played better than we did against Miami or Houston but still not at the level needed IMO.

I can 't disagree with this at all.  It felt more like the Steelers lost the game more than the Bills won it.  Similar to the Bills-Patriots game this year, we lost it with turnovers more than being beat.

  10. Great write up as always, even sans the music lyrics.

I have to totally disagree about #5 and Brady.  Why would it frustrate you to see that same play working so successfully.  It is more an indictment against the mighty Mike Tomlin and his DC (no wonder they were chanting Fire Mike Tomlin, to steeler fans that had to be PAINFUL to watch)..  If you have a play the opponent cant stop, you do exactly what the Bills did, keep pounding it.  It was demoralizing to the Steelers and a hug bonus for our O Line (esp with both tackles out) to run the ball.

#9 and Josh.  I have been thinking the same thing all year.  He has seemingly been really hyper engaged or floundering and seemingly disengaged.  And I hope this thread doesn't dissolve into armchair marriage counselors second guessing his wife.

I have no idea what to expect in this game or the coming weeks.  This team could go on a run and wreck everyone or implode IMO

it's almost like the staff and players aren't properly game planning for "lesser" opponents

The Falcons and Dolphins losses were a combination of gameplan/play calling and players not giving the effort

And the PAtriot loss was turnover driven (mostly Josh) and the Texans was inept play and turnovers again, mostly by Josh.

They have not won in Houston since 2006 (JP bomb out passing game) and the losses in Houston have ranged from gut wrenching (playoffs 2019 & Watt INT 2014) to you gotta be kidding me (2018 Peterman INT game) to yikes (2024 game) to just getting your butt whipped in 2012. In their five game losing streak in Houston the Bills offense has averaged just 15.6 ppg. It has been a weird house of horrors and they just need a normal game where they score 20 and win by 4 or something.

Noe of those games except for maybe last years bear refelct any relevance except for maybe last years 59 yard game winning field goal by Kai mi Fairbairn, he has issed the last two games and Texans have a journeyman scrub kicker now, hope I am wrong as Bills stretch out a huge lead but a key to this game could be if Fairbairn is playing tonight.

I agree. The Texans D is legit. The O with Mills doesn't frighten me.

High possibility of an epically low scoring game.  If it isn't, i think the Bills blow them out provided  the Texans get zero or just a  few points on turnovers.

  14. 14 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

He might play well. The Bills defense has been bad (particularly against the run). The point was, and is, regardless of how he performs this week, he’s a better option for the Bills than Stroud. Mills playing over Stroud is absolutely a break for the Bills. It doesn’t guarantee victory but it improves their chances.

I have voice by opinion already with substantial factual evidence,  we will will simple disagree on this.  I certainly hope Milli has a terrible game.

I don’t consider the Chicken Littles on this message board as experts. 100% “of experts” is the number. If Mills goes out there this week and throws for 350 yards and 4 TDs, Stroud plays the next game. We have officially gone crazy on TBD.

Second time you have  called me a chicken little, I got it the first time.  If I wanted repetitive insults I would call my wife.

Now before I am accused of being some stealth Texans fan, I would be thrilled if Mills reverts back to his 1st and 2nd year play.  I try not to play the hoping and praying game.

  16. That is too bad.  So did he actually have a calf injury or was it some sore of "disciplinary reaction" to his fumble.  I was uncertain.  Speaking of disciplinary action, not that is really matter much at this point but did Coleman actually miss a meeting or was that just an excuse.

  17. 1 minute ago, Kirby Jackson said:

100%. That’s not hyperbole. With the exception of you and a couple of other message board Chicken Littles, it’s 100%. There’s a reason they are trying to get Stroud back in the lineup. 🤣🤣 When he’s cleared he’s not going to sit behind Davis Mills. 🤣🤣

We have officially lost our minds here. @GunnerBill hit on it earlier. I’m old enough to remember people mad that we had to play Dalton instead of Bryce Young.

"100%.  That's not hyperbole with the exception of...."     LOL,   In your own words you have just proven it is hyperbole.
