Survivor Caramoan : Fans vs. Favorites
UConn James replied to UConn James's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Looks like Brandon did a lot of growing up since his last jaunt. No more God talk. No more Mr. Hantz Redemption. Hope = -
Season premiere tonight @ 8. (BTW, where did ajzepp go? Miss ya, buddy!)

Yep. I go with an over-the-air antenna with crystal-clear HDTV picture and Netflix. I just get the sense that more and more people are finally getting tired of the restrictions and rigidity of cable/satellite. Chef, in/around SF, you can pick up an inexpensive, small set-top antenna and get locals for news/weather, network broadcasts, etc. As for HoC, I looked at the abstract other day and made a mental note to watch it when I get the time. Netflix also recently added "The West Wing" to their Instant line-up, and tho I'm not of the political stripe of the central characters, I loved the quality of that show, John Spencer and Bradley Whitford most of all. It was everything that teevee should aspire to be WRT writing, acting and production. Holding out hopes for HoC. The series borrows on themes from a highly-regarded British series of the same name produced probably 25-30 years ago.

Well, I'm not sure David is interested in dating guys who eat lentils. But you never know...!

On another front in the same region.... Mystery over 'explosion' at Iran's Fordow nuclear facility http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/9831282/Mystery-over-explosion-at-Irans-Fordow-nuclear-site.html

I guess Dario got a little tired of tucking it between his legs.

Ashley Judd v. Mitch McConnell would be amazing

Ashley Judd splits with race car-driving husband Dario Franchitti -
One of the guys on the crew dug out her high heels (she lost them on the second step), scraped 'em off with the trowel, and told her she'd better wash her feet off before it started to burn. She said nothing.

I was pouring concrete sidewalks at a mall at a summer job while at the U ~10 years ago. We had orange cones out. Our backs were to two ladies walking while we were smoothing the surface. One lady is on her cell, the other was walking beside. Lady on the cell walks between the orange cones and takes three --- count 'em 3 --- steps into the concrete. SMH.

Mississippi Aims to Neuralize Federal Law?

Neuralize? "We just need a routine retinal scan for our files; please look directly into the light." -
It doesn't premiere until 17 Feb.

Thanks, Blue. Just wonder when 7.13 comes out. I don't use Java for anything else, pogo is a safe site and my 5-y.o. niece wanted to play her 'Wonderland Memories' game (it's a turn on the turn-over card memory games... only with cookie designs she has to match). I swear, she's destined to be the first female Commander of the Joint Chiefs.... I loathe using it, but I'll try IE.

Nope. Checked that and it's actually called something else in the Firefox Add-on list, but that is listed as a 7.11 and was updated yesterday, is enabled.... and nothing. That seems to be the situation, whether I like it or not. Kind of sucks that you spend $ (actually, I get it thru the MyCokeRewards points) and then can't use it....

Pogo.com, a games site operated by EA, uses Java. Haven't used my laptop, running Firefox as a browser, in some time and updated Java to the update 11 for version 7 and now the games on Pogo don't load, say I need to install Java Runtime Environment 1.7 u10 and when I click to do that, the update fails, says to try it manually and gives a link to download.... Java 7.11 which I've already installed. I've uninstalled all Java, re-installed. Installed previous versions that had worked before. Nada on pogo. Nada on the java.com test page. I tried last night, installed The latest java, and rebooted the computer. Then tried again. Both keep telling me that I don't have Java installed and to install it. Wtf?

Renovating the Ralph: The Kick Is Goods Plan
UConn James replied to TheKickIsGood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention that removing and replacing the buttressing in order to create wider concourses at the 300 level.... Having a background in construction, I'm not sure of the structural feasibility of that (that's a lot of weight on the upper deck), nor would it be anywhere near worth its cost. It's one thing to have the idea and think it would be nice, it's quite another to make it work architecturally. I would save major structural changes like that for the next stadium. Pretty much all they should be doing with RWS is improving the fan experience with smaller-scale projects like more screens, wifi, cabling, more minor structural stuff, paint, etc. -
Have been unimpressed with DeHaven. I get that Bobby April no doubt did not want to stay on after not getting the interim coach assignment that went to Fewell, or the HC job he interviewed for after Jauron. A lot of guys walk away under that set of circumstances because it's like their 'nads were cut off and how can you command respect like that, combined with getting the he-double L away from a franchise that's wandering in the desert and wouldn't know what the playoffs were if it slapped them. I hold no animosity there. I'm reading initially that Dey-Twaa's units improved down the stretch this season against some teams with strong ST. But they gave up KO & punt-return TDs two weeks in a row earlier in the year. Anyone know what Crossman had to work with for ST roster there? Admittedly, McK came into the return position very well under DeHaven. But the whole KO specialist, and then punter change thing this season was a complete rooster-up, as the Brits say. Underutilized Lindell (or had no confidence in?) and had him kicking to the 5-10 (by design, as I've seen Lindell say in past articles) way too much in his tenure, which isn't Dehaven's fault because even April was doing that, but it is a problem given the rules change for the KO spot and coverage.

Isn't this the final year for Andre to get in as a 'modern' player? I just don't think he gets in. And even as a Seniors candidate, I believe it'll be a long time... if ever. Which is sad, considering those YouTube videos that are extremely tightly cropped plays, and he's got 40 minutes of TDs, in an era where the passing game isn't nearly what it is now. Imagine what Andre in his prime would be able to do with today's PI rules?

Seau brain was damaged (CTE), family sues NFL
UConn James replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can mods fully change the thread title to reflect what doctors are ACTUALLY saying? Leaving that up for people to see as a headline, and if they don't read the thread "Junior Seau's brain was NOT damaged" will be the takeaway when that is 100% inaccurate. -
Umm... Note the date of composition of the post you're commenting on, PTR. That was before it all went down on 1 Jan. I'd venture to say that this poster's opinion has since shifted. That's not to say that his opinion prior to RW giving RB all of the keys is essentially wrong. Ralph was not physically capable of being the presence that an owner in the league needs to be. There's no word that he's not or will not be mentally capable --- and I'm not saying this is any kind of certain b/c, hey, my grandfather in WNY died at 96 but was still sharper than most 20 year olds I meet --- but the looming nature of all that may also have been a factor in his stepping down. RW had his own reasons, some of which probably align with what some here have said over the past 10 years. I appreciate that he finally recognized the need for someone to physically BE at OBD to oversee the ship and who has the legitimacy of "the buck stops here" when talking to people in the franchise. Any slight impression that Russ Brandon was a toadie for a doddering old man that he had to call to get permission to tie his shoes is now gone if it existed. All that remains is for an ownership transition plan that ensures the team stays and gets a new stadium by the Falls to really resurrect the franchise like the new Gilette Stadium did for the Patriots* ... and I'll be the first to call for them to build a 50-foot statue of Ralph there.
