  1. You'd prefer to have him tank it like Rueben simply so someone can wear #93 and remind us all of bygone days? Pat is going to be 33, plays 50 percent of the time, and wants a 4-to-5-year contract w/ a SB that the Bills will have to eat when he retires or is cut in two years. I don't see an upside here. There is a reason why Edwards got some good PT last year (Bengals game) and Tim Anderson was drafted.
  2. Why exactly would you want it to work that way? So he can come back bitter and have it affect everything else, from his onfield attitude to his conditioning ethic? There's times when you have to let guys walk away. See: Hugh Douglas.
  3. People are ready to 86 Lindell b/c of his struggles from inside the 40.
  4. My brother's Army buddies called him Diggler. What? His name is Dirk.
  5. Hasn't been on the show per se. But the combined Hurley quotes in the series had pretty much given it away that he had come into some money, i.e. when he owes Walt 83 Large by betting on that game he said something like 'No problem.' It wasn't a big spoiler, and that's actually in the TV Guide-like description for next week. Not like learning any small tidbit beforehand is going to really help you figure it all out or ruin the surprise in this show. For me, reading a little beforehand helps me spot things when they actually do come onscreen. Not all of us have Tivo, Steve.
  6. Peein' off his players w/ his attitude seems to be a pattern w/ Martz. I don't think TD would bring him back. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who does that. Once he's made a decision on a guy, he wipes his hands.
  7. The UConn football team is just in its fourth year of I-A. Beat Toledo in the Motor City Bowl this past season. Have to replace the best QB in school history. DL. Probably have one of the deeper RB corps in the Big East. Randy Edsall has made hay by signing guys that other coaches took off the radar b/c of size or injury. One they're really touting is a QB from Ohio, Billy Cundiff. Also got some good OL. The OL is one of the things they really concentrate on in the scheme. As the reputation grows, (and the AD is building a sweet indoor practice facility on campus) a more guys will have UConn as a first choice. It really is nice to watch the coach build the program from the ground up, basically. Linky poo.
  8. Last time I got one was an authentic Kelly jersey in '96. Kind of grew out of wearing sports stuff tho, besides UConn sweats and wool cap. It's fine for going to games and bars on the day of the game, but I don't do that very often. If I were to get a new one, I'd do what SDS did and pick a number and have my own moniker on the nameplate. Smart guy, him.
  9. I would actually guess Hurley. He's seen the numbers that were on Danielle's map and hasn't told anyone what they mean to him. The cat's been out of the bag for a couple of weeks.... They're his winning lotto numbers. Freaky stojan. As for the time aspect, 42 minutes of show in an hour-long episode is pretty standard. An empty casket on this island isn't like an empty casket on any other. Either Jack's father is brought back to life (similar to Locke's miracle) or they find the body and the Jack vs. Sawyer storyline goes buh-buh-buhmmm. If they caught Sawyer w/ the pistol, they would have found that it had been fired or done ballistics. I doubt they would let him go w/ a slap on the wrist for murder.
  10. Right, forgot to ask. Does anyone know how Jack's father dies? I missed the ep, but have read that his coffin was on the plane, and that it was empty (was that in a dream sequence?) Anybody think Sawyer may have gone back and given him what-for for suggesting he go kill the shrimp-stand guy, or to get rid of him as a possible witness? Also, was anyone curious when Locke asked Jack about Claire's amnesia, like what the odds of something like that happening, and it seemed more like he was asking about his own miraculous recovery. I don't know about that. If my wife suddenly started speaking Russian, I'd probably turn around and look with about the same expression. I could well be wrong. Jin is a very proud man, in the worst sense of the word. For those who hold to the Walt-controls-the-universe theory, they're going to be sorely mistaken in the season finale. That's all I'll say. Probably will be a major cliffhanger. And from the sounds of it, the writers are still making up the storylines. Maybe there is a "bible," but it's pretty generalized.
  11. Except that she has no arse at all. Besides that she's very pretty, and esp. after allowing for the cultural differences, you can understand a little of what Jin might've been thinking. In the wedding scene where she's changing her dress... they obviously have Wonderbras in Korea. And anybody who wants a lot of good spoilers.... Here you go.
  12. That's kind of what I was getting at.... something along the lines of the need for positive parental role models. And the islanders all seem to have had none. Don't forget Sawyer's father. And Kate and the farmer guy seemed to be a father figure/protector relationship. Sounds like Boone and Shannon were absent a father, or had a stepfather that didn't shiv a git. Michael (tho this seemed to turn around but then we discover that Walt burned his boat) and... oo... what was the guy's name who didn't want Walt.... Looked like Danielle will be making a return appearance. Sayid had been helping on the boat, pro'ly gets back to the maps.
  13. Who was doing the commercial? I didn't even catch it.... Interesting ep that made me both like and hate Jin. Liked his answer to the father, after he agrees to work for him and he's accused of giving up his dreams so easily --- "She is my dream." On the island he finally has a chance to start over, as Sun puts it, and he leaves for spite. Yet another inadequate father figure. Two, actually, altho I was pissed when he says he was "ashamed" of his father b/c he's a fisherman and instead said he was dead. Cultural difference where there is no such thing as marrying outside of your family's social/econ class. Sawyer made mention of my "Lord of the Flies" reading.... Tho it's probably wrong. Boone is emerging as the Island's very own Ed. So, Walt burned the boat. Can say this fits in the Walt controls the universe theory. I think it's wrong. At this point, all of these things can be explained (OK, except for the carnivorous giraffe that got the pilot). The turning point has yet to come where anything can really be deduced. Read somewhere that the Flash comic book that had the polar bear was about him and Green Lantern attacking an alien that was actually there benevolently.... Here's something interesting too, rumor is this was created by the creators of the show. Next week's is about Hurley. That really had me in stitches at the end. SOB!
  14. A smug smile and, 'So what. That is SO last year!' Karnak the Magnificent predicts this is going to be Michael Jackson's defense too. The stink of it is, it'll work.
  15. I'm not Bill Gates, but.... Try right-clicking on the file and go down to Properties. Where it says at the bottom, "Read-only" uncheck it. Then try to open it. Hope that works.
  16. Last week when they were building for the "house-less" families, they were going off on so many tangents (like Ty doing the community center on top of everything else) it was like watching Oscar Schindler at the end of the movie taking off his ring and sobbing, How many more would this have saved? They want to do so much but there's no Ben Kingsley to say, You did enough. The show on Sunday did go overboard. 5,300sq. ft. for a four-person family? My brother is building one that's 1,800 and they don't even know what to do with the entire upstairs. Don't mean to pee in the Cheerios, but I'm sure they could have found another family in the same town and built them each a normal-sized home....
  17. Drew takes it on himself to defy what the coaches tell him, b/c he certainly knows better. Good guy who did things his way and had the occasional smelly, chair-creaking brain fart. And then there's JP in a relief appearance vs the Pats who went in with about 10 seconds notice. No whining, no bitching. How high, sir? I'll take a QB that knows his place.
  18. Some of the sundry links on these are NSFW.....
  19. Didn't you read the headline? Shelton doesn't like girls, he likes bears. (Someone should tell him those claws hurt if the lucky she-griz is a scratcher).
  20. It means the player salaries will have to come back down to reality. There are too many people who think the NHL is somehow on par w/ the NFL, simply b/c it's the Major League! And until this same thing happens in baseball, that league will continue to be a joke. B/c it gets boring for the Colorado Avalanche playing the Red Wings 40 consecutive times. And the Avalance/Red Wings cannot play against the Avalanche/Red Wings in a regular season game.
  21. As I recall, it is up to the teams involved to work that out. Say the Jets have franchised DE Abraham. If the Bills offer him $20M/year (let's just go with this hypothetically to show something), the Jets can either match that offer or negotiate to their satisfation w/ two first rounders being the maximum. Sometimes it is just one 1st. I think the Pats did this w/ the Jets in their multiple incestuous player and coach dealings (Curtis Martin, Belichick compensation) and the 1st round picks were spread over two years.
  22. Yeah, it was 45 years after the 1919 non-SC year that the Bills won in '64. And then they repeated in '65.... FF to 2051: "Ladies and gentlemen, the back-to-back NFL Champion Buffalo Bills!"
  23. Actually, the Canadians have you beat on the world domination thing. CWD!
