  1. Methinks he needs to lose about 10 pounds (he's 230 at 6') as he works out his knee. He relied on more of the power back last season rather than a mix of that and breakaway speed that he had at UM. Two years removed from the surgery seems like a good time to lose some weight and get some of the speed back.
  2. Why? Are his eyes glazed over from the chronic?
  3. Especially if you saw him in the playoff game against the Stillers a few years ago where he almost brought the Browns back before making a dumb sideline-to-sideline throw for an INT. He apparently does have an arm and some football smarts. I'm just a little worried about his attitude about being a backup. Always seemed like he wanted to be #1 which seemed to work against Couch's development. Then again, if he signs here he knows what he's getting into....
  4. Covered territory.
  5. Does anyone know what the rapport was like in Cleveland b/w Holcomb and Tim Couch? The end result of that wasn't very good in the development of a young QB.... It'd be nice to get an older vet who knows his place as tutor/mentor than someone who is absolutely craving the starter's spot. That and draft a #3 QB in round 4 or 5. I, for one, am not surprised. This year on the whole has been different than most. Don't know if it's the quality of the UFAs, a wait-and-see attitude, confidence that the coaches are good enough to develop some of our own talent, or whatever else. Rest assured there will be 53 players on the roster come time for the regular season.
  6. For those of you w/ Tivo, did the guy say "Eight" or "eight-something"? Admittedly, my hearing has been going for a few years now but I thought he tack on "-something." And for those who are angry at no new eps until 13 April, well, I can tell you they were editing ep 16 when ep 14 was airing. Takes over a week to shoot each ep.... Sooner or later, even working every day w/ no off time (which makes Jack a dull doctor), there's going to be some repeats necessary while they shoot the ones that will air in April/May. Not to mention that ABC is actually losing money on the show right now due to high production costs in Hawaii; they need to recoup some of it. 'Course, they'll be filthy, stinking rich when the DVDs come out in August....
  7. The Return of the Friggin' Lonnie. Someone call Peter Jackson!
  8. <lotus position> Haaaoooouuuuuummmm. Haaaoooouuuuuummmm.
  9. I'd wager that OBD is, after they see this and have wallet cramps, figuring that they can get by w/ what's on the roster, by signing a mid-level FA and drafting an interior OL in the 3rd. Sadly, it's doubtful Nugent is even a speck on the radar at this point.
  10. Wow. Karnak the Magnificent predicts TD selects a CB in round 2.... That is just too much and Nate will want more.
  11. I certainly don't blame him for taking the cash (The 49ers version of 'A fool and his money are soon parted'). But "class" means shutting your pie hole and biding your time when you've made a commitment, and then being gracious that someone gave you hundreds of thousands of dollars to play football straight out of college. So far, he hasn't really run off his mouth about how much the Bills are sucky losers, but I give him until tomorrow's first bulldog edition of the SF Chronicle. Figures he'd go to SF, too. Did anyone read his parting words in the News? "I'm going to let my star shine somewhere else"? Who, outside of Broadway, talks that way? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Have a nice life, Jonas.
  12. I think steve forgot to hit the <sarcasm> button. Jonas has never been classy, unless you call salivating and saying "I'd LOOOOOOVE to play for the Atlanta Falcons" while he's still under contract w/ the Bills for another two years a classy move.
  13. To quote K-K-K-Ken in "a Fish Called Wanda": "Good!"
  14. *AHEM* To say anything in this thread would really be like gloating....
  15. One of the things that made the scene b/w him and Danielle so good. There was a load lifted when he realized he wasn't crazy. I think D. probably felt much the same way. "She said to say 'Hey.'" If you've noted, Hurley gets really defensive whenever Charlie or Jack have said things, even jokingly, questioning his sanity. Tgreg, it's all but certain Hurley was a patient for those reasons and that the receptionist was trying to get him out of there, he didn't know what Leonard's last name was means he wasn't holding the charts, if you know what I mean. It likely had something to do w/ an angry outburst like w/ Danielle. Noticed it a couple of weeks ago, anyone notice that Charlie's decorative bandages on his knuckles reads EVIL? What was the wire doing on the beach, looked like it went into the ocean. And then it apparently went down into the ground when they got to the bridge. Was it for the radio tower? The T-Rex idea? I don't know, but I wouldn't rule it out. One of the writers had an interview where he offered jokingly (or not?), "Maybe it's a Loch Ness kind of thing." And just generally b/c I don't want to do anything that may be deemed a spoiler, he said there wasn't going to be things that are WAY far out like time travel, etc. but they do play around w/ the science milieu. And for those who think there's a multiple-season "bible" for the show, that's wrong. There's general ideas of what the storylines in seasons 2, 3 or beyond, but nothing is set in stone.
  16. And keep your pee-pee out of cha-chas unless it's desired there by someone who is at least the age of majority.
  17. Maybe an escape route. You have to get around quick on the island, so the carnivorous giraffe doesn't getcha. But that would imply that the big monster, assuming it's not a polar bear b/c that would be so anti-climactic, was already there before Danielle. Bermuda Triangle/The Lost World? For those w/ Tivo, what book was Sawyer reading?
  18. Well, getting back to brass tacks, how in the heckfire could the bridge support Hurley and not Charlie? That's one that boggles the mind, unless it took a while for a rope to become totally unfrayed. Then, who built the bridge? Looked a lot older than 16 years for Danielle's party to have put up. That combined w/ the existing signal that sidetracked the expedition, this island has likely seen several crashes. Bermuda Triangle, the Pacific version?
  19. When my uncle had one and nothing was found, the doctor gave him a certificate saying that he was a 'Perfect A**hole.'
  20. Well, I do understand and concede his point. And everyone should have the opportunity to read and discuss the show w/o big spoilers being revealed. It's a courtesy thing that is crucial. It's just that in mixing the discussion w/ convention, some ideas get tossed around that others mistake as obvious, premeditated spoilers. They're not, and I don't know how sensitive Steve is about not knowing anything before it is actually on the pixels. But if you're talking about a show, at least be prepared to discuss convention.
  21. Point taken that this isn't a show that follows all the conventions of TV, but they don't throw all of the conventions out. A birthing episode is a ratings-grabber. The writers knew this when they were writing it all before the show became the biggest thing since Marlon Brando's jowls. Obviously, I've obviously been obviously listening to Drew "Obvious" Bledsoe for too obviously long an obvious time. There's a few spoliers I've heard and I haven't and won't post them here. The baby and the lotto one weren't that big a deal. Fuggin TV Guide tells you more. Really, it does. (I doubt it's a polar bear that got the pilot.)
  22. Sorry. Actually, a baby birthing in the season finale is so common an occurance (e.g. Friends, twice; ER, however many seasons it's been on b/c it's every year; need I go on?) it's laughable that anyone might think of it as a spoiler, esp. w/ Claire being 8 mos. preggers and there being not many eps left in the season. It's not hard math. They showed Hurley on the TV getting into a new car. A few positions down in the Telephone Game and voila, you have "Maybe he won the lotto?" That's the risk you run when you read a thread. I'll be conscious about labeling obvious spoilers.
  23. That's a question I asked kind of rhetorically, b/c from what was said, I really couldn't make any judgment on how Hurley knew this guy, Leonard, either as a fellow patient or as a ward attendant.... Just before the numbers come up, he had on a chicken joint uniform, tho, and was telling his mum that he knew that everyone was down/ragging on him. At this point, I'd say he was a patient, but I would guess not very long and not a very severe thing. Maybe anger management issues? see: his blowup to Danielle and bottling things up as mentioned before.
  24. Right on! I wouldn't be overly surprised for this to be a quiet FA period at OBD, relatively speaking, and then addressing some of needs w/ current backups and in the draft. Yaknow, I don't know if an extension gets done for him in this offseason. It seems like a lot of teams (Deadskins, Rayhhdahs) just sign guys and don't worry about it b/c they bank that the cap will go up by $7-8M each year. So far it generally has. Maybe this is what TD has in mind. Or he logically doesn't want to pony up that much green (did I just mix a metaphor? ) for one player and will let him walk or do another PP-type deal.
