Most is common knowledge for anyone who reads the WNY papers. One good point that was made, tho, is depth at LB. I wouldn't put much stock into the age consideration that they're pumping up for Fletcher (and Villareal) --- sounds more like a lazy writer with the epiphany of 'Hey, they're over 30. Their skills are declining.' That said, there's not much behind the starters at LB. And this draft is seriously weak in the category.... Let's just hope there's no injuries, knock on wood.

You could fill it with popcorn. Requires a hot air popper (dinosaur-like relic these days) and a few bags of popping corn. It's pretty cheap, only takes time and a few garbage bags. But it is a memorable one.

Yeah, he just got the killers acquitted. Big difference, that. And tried to inflame race relations based on lies any chance he got (See: Posthumous Sgt. (Really, a rookie) Cornell Young case in Providence, where the guy, in plainclothes, was too stupid to put his gun down outside of a nightclub. Johnnie was only asking for $25M IIRC.). God knows there's enough real malice and hatred to stamp out that you don't need to puff up the lies. It is for that reason that I am overwhelmingly ambivalent.

Since these happen in threes.... Jerry Falwell's in critical condition. And maybe Al Sharpton will finally have one banana cream puff too many.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel. Overwhelming ambivalence?

The SNL skit a few years back w/ the Census guy was classic. Anywho, there's the Federal Do Not Call List for telemarketers. It doesn't stop nonprofits or pollsters/survey people from calling you, but the phone rings a lot less here. I've got a phone for my convenience, not for theirs.

2005's surprise cut of the year will be...
UConn James replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The scenario isn't exactly right, but that was in the Bengals game. Fat Sam wasn't benched. Jerry Gray kept Ron Edwards in on more plays than usual b/c he was tearing it up and getting great penetration into the backfield and busting up plays. Adams got a little huffy about it during and a little after the game that he lost playing time. Gray said BFD and stated the above reasons why Edwards was kept in, and he and Adams apparently made nice. Rest assured, he'll be wearing a Bills uniform this season, and rest assured, that uniform will still look like 10 pounds of stuffing in a 1-pound bag. -
If you think Modrak will be much different from who he's learned the trade from the past several years, you're mistaken. TD signs players and takes chances on players, many of which have panned out, some that haven't. Name a GM who hasn't and doesn't. As for No. 9, Bledsoe restructured his contract. His cap number was $5.5M if my math is correct (go to the 2004 Front Office page on billsdaily). I'd say that, or even $8M/yr, is better than the $16M/yr Indy will be paying Manning to be a choke artist. If you're going to quit on your team, get your facts straight. What a fan! And, this is the important part, so listen up..... It's a !@#$ing game!!

Seems the circumstances have changed somewhat, or not at all b/c of where the "immediate cremation" rumor spawned from. For all of those resigned to think the worst of Michael Schiavo, he wants an autopsy to be done so the extent of Terri's brain damage (which the CT scan from a year ago, on CBS Sunday Morning, shows is extensive) can be shown. Reuters: Schiavo autopsy to end conspiracy talk I guess Mr. Schiavo's official unofficial TBD accountants will have something to say as their last stand on why he's Satan incarnate and not just an ordinary man in an extra- ordinary situation. How'd you like your life scrutinized as much as his for being in the legal position of trying to respect her wishes? As for what actually matters beyond all the hype and hoopla, it looks like Terri will be passing to her rest soon. Godspeed.

I'm glad you could clear that up for us, God. (By the by, could you see fit to give me the Powerball numbers for next Wednesday? I'll tithe 10 percent. Honest.) From "due South" where they're trying to solve a crime:
-
Man arrested in alleged Schiavo case murder plot Much more where that came from, all over the Web, as some people believe that the answer to what they see as murder, is more murder. And then they pick up their hymnals and turn to page 213 to sing Nearer Our God To Thee.

Is that like the gilbriding job with "Travis Hunter"?

What is the % of Div I players in the 1st 3 rds?
UConn James replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It usually is D-I players selected in the first few rounds, and they comprise a high percentage of all players taken in the seven rounds. Still, it's not unheard of for guys from smaller schools to be picked, tho the results aren't usually good to get even an adequate starter. I believe the last true "small" school player the Bills selected was Matt Stevens who was coming off a knee injury (and it wasn't even TD that drafted him! ) from Appalachian State in the third round in the mid-to-late 90s. About the only ones I can remember being superstars are Andre Reed and John Mobley, both out of Kutztown State. If a player from a D-II or -III school has eyes on the NFL, it's usually through UDFA pickup. UConn was D-IA (and this only sounds bigger than it actually was) up until about 5 years ago and had a grand total of four players ever selected in the NFL draft in team history. Most recently, Brian Kozlowski, a TE that pretty much was signed by every team Dan Reeves went to, basically b/c he "knew the system." We've now got three players that have a decent shot of getting drafted this year. -
It's one thing to make the argument that it's a bunch of whiners blaming Bush, and quite another to put this in the grand scheme. If he doesn't support it, he shouldn't have signed it. He signed the Texas law. I don't care how many legislators vote for a bill to put mercury in the drinking water at 367 River Road, Springfield, MO, I don't so much sign that. Add this to the expectation that the Senate will approve all of his judicial nominations. So, either he's a hypocrite, which is bad, or he doesn't believe in the system of checks and balances, which, him being the President, is worse. Question, tho. How can you write No. 1 and then write No. 4? Sorry, but while he's surely not the only one, he could have stopped all the stupidity with a veto or pocket veto. In college, they called this practice "professor-shopping" to pick the most lenient, laissez-faire, easy-grading profs around. (I always liked the hard profs better b/c it was a challenge, and you do your best work like that). Seventeen different courts they've been to now? They have ZERO respect for the law, zero respect for Teri, and they're so used to the role of being the caretakers and having something interesting to talk about and rally around that they will not let go to the vessel that once carried her spirit. Word is that there are only "hours left." Godspeed, Teri.

Paterno back for 40th year as PSU Coach
UConn James replied to Like A Mofo's topic in College Football
A few years ago, UConn had a QB, Keron Henry, like that who eventually became the backup to Orlovsky (who's projected for the 2nd round this year) in camp and then a WR during the season. He actually did pretty well there for two years. In 2-on-2 BBall pickup game a couple of summers ago, a buddy from high school and I kicked KH's and his WR buddy's asses.... To me, if you've had your QB starting at another position, it's time to say 'Hey, we need a true QB.' Recruit a truly GOOD prospect by dangling the phrase "possible four-year starter" in front of them and see how fast they sign. Esp. w/ PS's reputation. I'd say to start the Morelli kid, not that I've seen or heard of him, but Paterno should trust his scouts. Should JoePa be back? That's an unanswerable question. His team hasn't shown much on O for the past few years but,.... he's JoePa! I thought last year would be it but he's back; maybe he wants to end on a positive note. -
They were busy putting lipstick on the Social Security pig. I've only seen the Texas law that Bush signed mentioned on ONE media source, online. Everyone else has been mum. Still getting softball questions from a press corps that's laying down on the job. His chances were slim and none before this thanks to his 5-time cocaine loser of a daughter who, surprisingly, kept getting a slap on the wrist. Ah, the Bushes!

For those complaining there is rarely good news
UConn James replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We love to charge famous people with violent crimes like murder, rape and child molestation. We love to see them acquitted even tho they were guilty as sin. All of the reasons you give are exactly why I don't want to do what I majored in (which having read your stories, we did the same thing), even tho I did really well. Besides the crappy pay, the state of media erodes more and more each day. I am kind of struggling to find something else tho. Listing that major is kind of an albatross for a lot of employers, it seems. -
Teri would've aspirated and died if the protesters had given her food or water. Feeding tube is considered a "machine." I don't think anyone is arguing that Teri's going to wake up and tell us about String Theory. Except you. In your slippery slope world, should people be arrested for taking one of those mints in the Chinese restaurant? I mean, there it is, so close to the register, it's almost like you're robbing them.

No, it's Kordellia Stewart. And, isn't it TOmmy Chang? That's how I've always seen it.

Yes, and if you go past a one-sentence HotPocket description, you'd find that's applicable to people who still have their faculties but are dy-"ing" ala terminal cancer, AIDS, etc. The ones you read about where a nurse puts 40cc of NaCl in the fluids. That is active involvement in the death. Ending machine hookup for someone who is braindead (except according to hack doctors who diagnose by watching 10 seconds of videotape) and their cerebellum is liquified is a different case.

Like the one in Nawlins a few years ago when it was 20 degrees at the Superdome? And it was 40 in Buffalo? Possibility of snow in the North, mudslides in California or hurricane aftermath in the South. Is one better than the others? It's time the Super Bowl was delivered back to FOOTBALL FANS than a horde of celebrities looking frantically for the nearest camera so they can continue the circle-jerk that is their business plan.
-
That wasn't directed at you, I just need to invest in a copy editor. It was to VA a few pages back who said this was "euthanasia" and went on a whole rant that it's unconstitutional in Florida and that everyone including the courts and Gov. Bush are asleep at the wheel and wrong, wrong, wrong, when in fact it's done every day for families in the same unfortunate circumstances, only w/o the media horde. I wholly agree with you on this.
-
Sorry, but Ralph is wrong about this. Did he have a bad experience in the SB in Minn.? Why would someone not want to have a 2-week influx of football fans with cash in hand for their region? Why should only the South and California get this boom? I'd be all right w/ the Jets building a stadium, if it was done w/ their own fuggin' money. This is for the same reason I wouldn't give IBM free money for their buildings. Yeah, it attracts people to a specific area, but it does not magically create money for the economy, it just diverts it.
