Ehhh, I don't see TD as the kind of guy that would hold up a good deal to spite someone, especially Travis. He's just waiting out to get what he sees as fair value. Same as he did w/ Peerless. Can't blame him for that.

I'd guess pretty early, as he was taught to always assume the absolute, utter, deep-down-and-dark-as-you-can-get worst about other people. Lesson Two was to expect those selfsame other people to fully agree with and abide by his moral and political judgments, or else they get the frowny-face.

LOST? I thought it was supposed to be a new show?
UConn James replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the gist of what was discussed. If you want anything more probative, I'd really suggest finding a LOST-centric board where they go into more detail. I'm a fan of the show, but I'm not so hardcore that I do that. Here, it's mostly just spotty commentary and let the writers/actors reveal what happens. Also, a place to bounce your theories and 'Did you notice...' off the walls. Like so: Going w/ the Jack=Shepard=Christ, what do you make of the phrasing last night when Jack saunters over and says, "I know we haven't talked in a while...." That's usually how someone who's lost faith approaches the subject. I've read that Locke, the philosopher, was down w/ religion, but at times he's heavy on the material world and our experiences here shaping who we are, etc. Jack then mentions they need meat --> Jack taking care of the flock. Another thing to add, I read there was a convention of sorts where 8 of the main char. & the writers were onstage taking questions. Someone asked the actors if they thought Locke was good (as opposed to being evil). No one raised their hands. Then the guy who plays Boone skeevishly raised his hand and started laughing. Then again, the actors are kept in the dark about plotlines too, until they get the script. There have been several scenes where the actual film they show was their reaction to the first time seeing something. The 6-DVD set comes out in August. 39 bucks on amazon. -

Didn't you watch that Seinfeld where George does that, only w/ a crossword puzzle? Didn't it backfire on him tho? -
I get the point that no matter who "wins" everyone comes out of this losing. But to present the both sides of "It's murder" and "It's time to let go b/c Teri isn't in there anymore and didn't want this" as if they're not mutually exclusive in this case.... Saying that everyone's wrong is quite a cop-out to real life, especially when you try to talk in a hypothetical as if time can be suspended and you don't have to bother offering a real solution b/w the two, not that there is one. This is one or the other; there's no gray area, unless you're rooting for Teri to die of an infection or a gas main explosion or something, which kind of defeats the purpose of assigning a right and wrong.

High Court just refused to order re-insertion. Funny that the same people who rail against "activist judges" are the ones who want those same judges to ignore state's rights and legislate from the bench in this case by saying that the choice doesn't belong to the husband. Watch them get pissy, as with every time they don't get their way 100 percent, even when it's against the codified law. Godspeed, Teri. ----- VA, I'm sure you can tell us where exactly the money went and what bank it's in. You are, after all, Michael Schiavo's personal accountant, doing the books by what you see in media articles.

LOST? I thought it was supposed to be a new show?

I was thinking of a body/mind possession of Locke by some force on the island, perhaps he was hand-picked right after the crash, lying on the sand. Explains how he was able to walk. The encounter w/ the 'monster' only confirmed that he'd submit to its will. But maybe he's going against what the Island/monster wants, and what the Island giveth, the Island can taketh away? The plane might be connected to the hatch they found, no? Looks like a huge development next week if it's not a tease like Shannon's 'death.' So, after I found out Jack's name is Jack Shepard, I'm also thinking of a Christ/Disciples reading. There's 14 main characters. The Big Twelve, JC, and Mary Magdalene? -
How will they determine the order of the draft if/when it occurs? They already had a draft based on the 2003-2004 season standings. It would be really unfair to have another one based on it (Tho the Sabres would get a pretty good pick...). Maybe skipping a year might be a good thing. It always draws my ire that teams select a guy in the first round that you hear is great and then he doesn't play for the big club until 5 years later. It's the antithesis to the NFL where a team can plug a couple-few holes right away via the draft. That's something they really need to fix for hockey to even be considered interesting again.

You would be glad about something like that.

Make sure it's 200 Proof. That takes some serious stones or desperation to do that on your own. -
Blaming the media for reporting facts when you get caught cheating. Guy's a true scoundrel. And I hope his career is over.

OT: Wonder why WNY's economy is in the tank?
UConn James replied to JCBoston's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
But he's a Republican tool, so that makes him Republican cool. Like our Gov. Johnny-boy Rowland, now kickin' it in NJ for 15 months at Club Fed for selling us out to Tomasso Construction (and ~$250M to Enron, but he didn't get charged with that). It's really got to start w/ fixing the crappy education system (Regents) and creating/inviting in real jobs to stop the "brain drain." Will that happen? Pro'ly not. -
NfL CBA Crisis? No Cap year in 2007
UConn James replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's probably at a standstill b/c half the teams in the league have been counting on 2007 being the end of the cap. They've mismanaged their contracts so badly, that just before it comes time to pay the piper, they have the piper killed. Deadskins, Raiders, Lions, Colts, Felons, 69ers.... that's just off the top of the head. Once the cap is gone, it doesn't come back. The above owners and the NFLPA will make damn sure of that. ----- And yeah, besides the having to scroll down so much, there's copyright issues. Select the pertinent info and put a link. -
No scrimmage vs Browns this year
UConn James replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not necessarily a bad development. Shouldn't let a team get too familiar w/ your personnel and schemes. Tends to stagnate after a few seasons. Lions? Iggles? It would be a team that's relatively close geographically. I think it's possible to rule out the Jets, Pats, Giants b/c of history, Stillers... does anyone need to be told why not? Could also just spend the time in regular practice / intrasquad scrimmage. -

Question about Washing DC License plates

D.C. does have three votes in the Electoral College, as set by the 23rd Amendment. Which makes it the same for one city as it is for seven states. -
One of the guys from the Monkees went to my high school back in the day. The lead guy from Weezer did too (Rivers Cuomo?) about 10 years before I got there. As for your question, Pooj, today's music isn't inclined to story-telling like that.

And then there's: "Will always go balls out until the final whistle blows." Uhmmm, I'd prefer he keep his balls in his pants. Thanks, for offering tho. Writer apparently had 'balls' on the mind.... -
Let's say this again: "Removal of the feeding tube [for people in a PVS] results in a very peaceful death." -- Dr. Tim Johnson. This is not like starvation for you or me. It will not physically hurt.

UConn James replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Um, Shaud Williams. And if nobody bites, Travis Henry, the man himself. He's just seemed unspectacular when he's been on the field. I think for the most part, it's good-natured ribbing. Until FFS writes a 6,000-word essay on why Joe Burns is dead weight on the roster. No one but us hardcores will read it, but everyone will have to agree. C'mon FFS, you know we love ya, man! -
Congrats! I'll crack open a PBR for Baby TBA. And one for your brother. And one for his wife. And one for you. And one for your wife. And.... C'mon, you need to come up w/ 25 more people to drink a toast to.

Looks like he broke out the naked pictures of TD at the negotiating table. I honestly don't know why they're keeping him, especially since this draft and the UDFA RBs are going to be leaps and bounds above him as a third year player. Whatever. -
ABC has done a great job in show development this season. Lots of diversity in genres and new plays on old genres. LOST, DHW, BL, Blind Justice, Extreme Makeover Home Ed., this new series Eyes doesn't look half bad.... This, while both of the other networks are airing the same old, same old. Sit-coms of fat husbands and skinny wives. Law & Order, spinoff after spinoff, CSI, ditto. When no one has any ideas left, they run to generic cop shows. ABC, which was the struggling network, in danger of slipping below the WB just a few years ago, is back. ABC's the new HBO.

And you thought this belonged on the main board rather than PPP.... how?
