  1. The hatch isn't exactly what I thought it would be (which was "part of a plane"). It looked kind of like a pod or a panic room. What would have glass that's that strong?
  2. Actually, it would be called what has legally played out by the courts determining that the federal govt had no business sticking its nose into a state matter where the law says that absent a directive, it's the spouse's call. B/c that is what's called totalitarianism.
  3. Yeah.... Yeah. The oft-forgotten story development of setting is definitely in play, and not just as soil, rocks and trees. ---------- And Hawkeye Pierce (mostly b/c of his new stint on West Wing as an awesome Republican candidate) and Kramer were the two I immediately flashed on as well.
  4. I was talking about his mum and dad conning him into getting a kidney for the taking after having invested a lot of lying and a few quail-hunting walks. I agree somewhat w/ how Locke's been on the island; probably learned his lesson. But I think he's also trying to not be like his father. He has given, (ie the baby crib, helping Charlie) rather than just taking what he needs and leaving. Don't know about that. He obviously saw Bloody Boone, but that doesn't mean that he knew when that would happen. Happened really quick and he didn't know right away, he was searching around for the answer, it wasn't delivered to him in epiphany. The visions were just that; didn't lead to a specific place that he knew beforehand. The plane falling didn't seem that he was expecting or wanted it to happen, and he was screaming for Boone to get out. And this is not coming from a Locke apologist, don't you know.
  5. Locke actually called Boone "son" just before he spotted the plane, and he was trying to convince Boone to continue searching for whatever it was they were looking for.
  6. I don't have Tivo, but at the end of the scenes where he's in the car, did the younger Locke look up and then get all catatonic like when he saw the monster? For a couple of minutes I actually thought the old guy was going to take both of his kidneys. So, people have used Locke. Locke used Boone, somewhat but I don't think it was malice/sacrificial. He surely knew there was risk going in the plane but I don't believe that he knew the bloody event would be from that. And if it was a premonition, how could he stop it, w/o it having been wrong? All that said, I would agree w/ the sentiment that Locke isn't a 'Good' guy. I've never thought this. The Palay convention where fans got to ask a few vague questions only solidified this. What did the respondent on the radio say? I just couldn't make it out. Interesting things to note. Ep was titled "God in the Machine" and in the drug plane, there were Virgin Mary statues. In the hatch, there is _?_. As Johnny Coli (and dude, you need to grace us w/ another blog entry pronto! ) said, it refers to the entrance of a savior. The light right there was very eerie, and it took Boone's (near-?)death/or was it simply Locke being alone(?) for it to come on. Anyone can now go back and highlight the yellow spoiler, it's been revealed now, and there's a theory behind all of this there. What was a light airplane, 2-prop?, fron Nigeria --- West Africa --- doing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? They can't generally make a journey like that.
  7. IBM's first computer chips cost in the tens of millions. As they got better at it, and it went into mass production, the price came down lots, yes? It's too bad that solar energy hasn't been used extensively, and I believe you no longer get a tax credit for the installation cost. Renewable energy that means we don't have to pony cash so terrorists can attack us? Not such a bad thing.
  8. Nor should you or Tom Delay and his ilk be defining what life is for anyone else. Each person should act in accordance to what they believe for areas where "life" is debatable. If it's not right for you, then don't do it. This case has shown nothing if not the need for a written living will to clear up family squabbles.
  9. Plus, he was "stuck" at the QB position there. And, uhmm, it's kind of against the laws of physics and space/time to throw the ball and catch that ball in the same play. In the NFL, he'll be a guy that can fill multiple slots. TE, WR, backup or surprise situational QB to confuse defenses.... It would be nice for Mularky to have the same kind of player that Stewart was before he became a full-time QB.
  10. For an explanation of what's happening re: the plane in the preview, highlight for spoilers, and skip on by if you don't want to read (the yellow should be enough to obscure view): Boone gets into the hatch and gets radio contact. The plane is indeed another plane that apparently went off course and crashes onto the island. Seems like they're setting up a Pacific version of the Bermuda Triangle. If you saw last week, Sayid gives Jack a compass which points the wrong way, and then says it's broken. I would guess the island has a strong magnetic pull, and it may be connected to the "black rock" that Rousseau wrote about. Her party crashed by boat, and there's now two plane crashes, and possibly three, depending what the hatch turns out to be. Maybe the "Adam and Eve" they found in the cave early on were Amelia Earhardt and Fred Noonan? Anywho, there's drugs in the plane that crashes tonight. Sets up an interesting angle for Charlie.... Sorry for the technical snafu, Doctor. :P
  11. It definitely has the look of an ep where a lot happens rather than a lot of the teasing that's gone on thus far.
  12. This was actually mentioned downthread. I don't want to mention any names but his initials are VABills. Some people grasp at red herrings when they're desperate to somehow 'prove' they're 'right.' All I know is what happens happens, and the legal determination is being made by the person who it is entrusted to by law and is following the wishes of the patient. That should have been the end of it. Believe it or not, there are opinions in this case b/w making Terri the Bionic (But Still Devoid CT-Scan (Except According to Hack Doctors Who 'Diagnose' By Video)) Woman and dancing on her grave.
  13. A lot like the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Vegas East wanting the state to pay hundreds of millions for roadwork and bridges right up to their doorstep. It's crap. Imagine Gerber Scientific demanding that the state pay to build their offices and pave their driveway. Same thing, only that instead of producing money for the economy, sports franchises and new stadiums simply divert the flow of money in an economy. Which makes these requests/demands for stadia simply retarded.
  14. Provided the link upthread, but since people are still talking about it, it bears re-linking. I highly recommend that everyone sign up on this, unless you like the phone ringing during dinner. I have still gotten calls from time-share azzholes too (maybe there's an exemption for them) and they are serious phone stalkers. But it carries a certain weight when you can say "I am on the federal Do Not Call List. I have your number on my CallerID and I'm now going to report you to the FTC and you will be fined $30,000 for calling me. Goodbye." You don't even need to say "Take me off your list" when you say that.
  15. Most is common knowledge for anyone who reads the WNY papers. One good point that was made, tho, is depth at LB. I wouldn't put much stock into the age consideration that they're pumping up for Fletcher (and Villareal) --- sounds more like a lazy writer with the epiphany of 'Hey, they're over 30. Their skills are declining.' That said, there's not much behind the starters at LB. And this draft is seriously weak in the category.... Let's just hope there's no injuries, knock on wood.
  16. You could fill it with popcorn. Requires a hot air popper (dinosaur-like relic these days) and a few bags of popping corn. It's pretty cheap, only takes time and a few garbage bags. But it is a memorable one.
  17. Yeah, he just got the killers acquitted. Big difference, that. And tried to inflame race relations based on lies any chance he got (See: Posthumous Sgt. (Really, a rookie) Cornell Young case in Providence, where the guy, in plainclothes, was too stupid to put his gun down outside of a nightclub. Johnnie was only asking for $25M IIRC.). God knows there's enough real malice and hatred to stamp out that you don't need to puff up the lies. It is for that reason that I am overwhelmingly ambivalent.
  18. Since these happen in threes.... Jerry Falwell's in critical condition. And maybe Al Sharpton will finally have one banana cream puff too many.
  19. I'm not exactly sure how I feel. Overwhelming ambivalence?
  20. The SNL skit a few years back w/ the Census guy was classic. Anywho, there's the Federal Do Not Call List for telemarketers. It doesn't stop nonprofits or pollsters/survey people from calling you, but the phone rings a lot less here. I've got a phone for my convenience, not for theirs.
  21. <applause> Exactly. </applause>
  22. The scenario isn't exactly right, but that was in the Bengals game. Fat Sam wasn't benched. Jerry Gray kept Ron Edwards in on more plays than usual b/c he was tearing it up and getting great penetration into the backfield and busting up plays. Adams got a little huffy about it during and a little after the game that he lost playing time. Gray said BFD and stated the above reasons why Edwards was kept in, and he and Adams apparently made nice. Rest assured, he'll be wearing a Bills uniform this season, and rest assured, that uniform will still look like 10 pounds of stuffing in a 1-pound bag.
  23. If you think Modrak will be much different from who he's learned the trade from the past several years, you're mistaken. TD signs players and takes chances on players, many of which have panned out, some that haven't. Name a GM who hasn't and doesn't. As for No. 9, Bledsoe restructured his contract. His cap number was $5.5M if my math is correct (go to the 2004 Front Office page on billsdaily). I'd say that, or even $8M/yr, is better than the $16M/yr Indy will be paying Manning to be a choke artist. If you're going to quit on your team, get your facts straight. What a fan! And, this is the important part, so listen up..... It's a !@#$ing game!!
  24. Seems the circumstances have changed somewhat, or not at all b/c of where the "immediate cremation" rumor spawned from. For all of those resigned to think the worst of Michael Schiavo, he wants an autopsy to be done so the extent of Terri's brain damage (which the CT scan from a year ago, on CBS Sunday Morning, shows is extensive) can be shown. Reuters: Schiavo autopsy to end conspiracy talk I guess Mr. Schiavo's official unofficial TBD accountants will have something to say as their last stand on why he's Satan incarnate and not just an ordinary man in an extra- ordinary situation. How'd you like your life scrutinized as much as his for being in the legal position of trying to respect her wishes? As for what actually matters beyond all the hype and hoopla, it looks like Terri will be passing to her rest soon. Godspeed.
  25. I'm glad you could clear that up for us, God. (By the by, could you see fit to give me the Powerball numbers for next Wednesday? I'll tithe 10 percent. Honest.) From "due South" where they're trying to solve a crime:
