"A mask for every American" Dhvani.com
UConn James replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall
A few days ago, I filled out the fields on the OP site and then it said that I would need to respond to an email in order to finish the process. I never got the email, even checked in the junk folder. Is this a case of their system being overwhelmed and they will send one anyway, or do I fill it out again? -
WHat are you doing with the Stimulus money?

Paul Lucas’s Uni Watch page today reported (and provided photo proof of some Pats* players wearing the new unis at their homes) that the pants stripes ARE in line with the widths shown on the shoulder, and not an extra-wide white which would have been virtually a match for the Texans’ pants. My question is why do a Uni reveal with a design that isn’t correct? Total SNAFU. Even if it were a case of the lockdown complicating things, they couldn’t have a guy in their marketing department photoshop them with a correct version? Bush league. TB did this for their reveal when Godwin gave his #12 to Brady; they ‘shopped him into his new #14. It’s not that difficult. Still pretty disappointing that there seem to be no plans for a silver or white pant set, per their entry in the NFL Style Guide.

I’ve helped or done a garden for 30+ years, starting in my single digits. Still a bit early here in NE CT; there was a frost warning tonight, actually. It used to be Mother’s Day / mid-May to plant, but that’s crept earlier in the past 10-15 years. Hoping the place I go to for tomato and pepper seedlings (and often a pack of butter / Boston lettuce to start things off with me growing from seeds later on) is still open in a couple of weeks. Other things I just start from direct sow in the garden because seed-starting has never really worked for me ??♂️. Need to get the 1980-bought Troy-Bilt tiller running; thing is a beast yet easy to operate. That’s when they made things to last and to get the job done.

+ 1. Got rid of the silver and navy shoulder blobs and side panels. To be honest, I liked the red side piping on the previous home (navy) set where it blended into the navy, but not at the expense of panels+piping on the away (white) set. - 1. The away’s red-blue-red makes logical sense given the home red-white-red... but it just looks off and might work better as blue-red-blue. 2. No teevee numbers on the shoulders or sleeves. Thought this was against the NFL rulebook concerning unis. The Browns wanted to go teevee numberless on their plain brown alts, but the league forced them to add them. Guess the Pats* get excepted from the rules, as ever. May make it a tiny bit harder on refs to identify player numbers for penalties and for viewers to see who’s who in scrums. 3. Not a fan of only having the unitard look. 4. Inconsistent stripe widths on the pants. Should be the same as what’s on the shoulders, not the same width as the red but a MUCH wider white stripe. 5. Besides the helmet, they VERY closely resemble the Texans in overall gestalt (and almost exactly on the pants).

Browns to introduce new uniforms at 12:00 pm
UConn James replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Getting rid of any chest wordmark at all gets a big ?? from me. I do not understand this trend for the NFL, especially writ large like the Jets and now ATL. The NFL is the king of sports. Act like that. Not like you’re some D-II school where no one can even remember the name / location. Solid reversion to the classic. The encroaching sleeve stripes were awful. I don’t understand the blank Color Rash alts, but... whatever. -
Colts introduce a secondary logo
UConn James replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not a fan of it. Akin to that alternate Buffalo logo with red and blue inside of the B loops that was ?. But at least it won’t be used much. At this point, it’s on the inside the back collar of their jersey. Saw this a couple of days ago and Uni Watch now has a write-up on it. https://uni-watch.com/2020/04/15/exclusive-did-the-colts-copy-this-guys-logo-design/ Cribbed the original design of a high school (5x state champs) logo. It wasn’t trademarked, but the coach who designed it is talking to a lawyer. Bad form, Colts. -
I think this is legit - NIH covid study
UConn James replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
There are some outlets that are saying coronavirus was presenting in China as far back as July 2019, and the CCP have covered that up with a disinformation campaign and WHO has gone along with it in lockstep. -
I would support picking the best punter, even as early as round 4 if need be. Corey B is SO inconsistent, shanks too many, and doesn’t show much leg strength.

Really does look like a giant Roomba. Maybe that company could become the stadium sponsor if/when alliegent fails.

??. It’s black trim. And it’s entirely inconsistent in its placement. Between the red & blue/white on the shoulders, at the edge of the blue on the helmets and pants, at the edge of the red on the jerseys. Why was black even needed? It’s ‘90s BFBS (black for black’s sake). In this age of HD and 4K/8K, it’s not needed to keep colors from bleeding onscreen. That and the collar that’s changed forty-eleven times since the 2011 redesign. Just make it blue (like the blue throwbacks) and be done with it. As a third wish, I’d ask to have red trim on the name-on-back, as with the throwbacks. Having numbers with trim and names without just looks inconsistent. Those are literally my only gripes. It is SO close to perfect. Uhhhmmm.... ?? Other than the numbers being moved up to the shoulders because of space differences in New Jersey fits, the trim style / thicknesses on the blue throwbacks were absolutely consistent with the classics.

Front Page of NFL.com this morning!
UConn James replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From Paul Lucas’s Uni Watch page, that used to be in SI and then ESPN.... He got a visual preview of the Bucs new uni design a couple of weeks ago, but was not allowed to take any pictures. A designer mocked these up based on Lucas’s description. Basically, reverting to the mid-90s SB era design, minus the orange trim, which I personally never cared for anyway. IMO, this takes them from worst unis to Top-10. -
Can you guess the movie title from the emoji clues?
UConn James replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall Archives
56 is ???. Pretty sure that would be “Autumn in New York” with Richard Gere & Winona Ryder. LLV might be something like: ???????. I think 4 is “The Horse Whisperer.” 12. The Pelican Brief? Though it might be better with the more recently released emojis: ??. 33. Psycho, of course. -
Just saw that the 90yo grandfather of my best friend’s GF died this morning, from the virus. He was the caregiver for his slightly younger wife who is physically not-well. Her father had been in close proximity with her grandfather and is self-quarantining, she had close proximity to him, and my friend had proximity to her. So... all having to self-quarantine. My oldest brother downstate is a LEO in the courts and was told that someone in his building was confirmed, so he has to self-quarantine. And his wife went yesterday to a testing site because she was presenting symptoms. Such a delayed onset for any symptom of this is the worst.

These are some mock-ups someone posted on a uni-watch Facebook page. Hoping that they go with something close to this. The shoulder bolt that has been sectioned off over a color-block that doesn’t follow the contour of the point edges with the Nike jersey cut really disrupts the design flow. The free form sublimation here is a great, clean look. I would just move it a bit further down the shoulder to make room for some TV numbers.

That’s precisely one of the little-spoken-of reasons for putting some public funds into large capacity stadiums. e.g. how the Superdome was used in Katrina, for all its horrible anecdotes. If large numbers of people need to be gathered together for mass inoculation, quarantined together, or to have a stadium complex serve as a large staging area, that’s a consideration.

And if we were to put all causes of death in there, medical error / malpractice would be the #1 seed in the West bracket. (It’s the third leading cause of death.)

What Cooking Shows Do You Watch?
UConn James replied to RaoulDuke79's topic in Off the Wall Archives
His vocals when enjoying a bite of whatever dish was made are just to cringe-inducing for me. I feel like I need to take a shower after listening to that. There’s a certain undeserved smarminess to him as well. Otherwise, like others, I kinda center around the PBS stuff, probably most because I cut the cable cord a long time ago. ATK/CC are really focused on the food & prep aspect. There are a number that follow a chef and tell their story along with their dishes: I liked Bourdain’s exec-produced “Mind of a Chef” that ran on PBS and is on Netflix. Have watched “A Chef’s Life” a few times over (I think it’s the best of what television can be, story-telling & cinematography-wise) and Vivian Howard is continuing that theme but less her-family-based with a new primetime PBS slot late this month with “Somewhere South.”
