  1. Well, in San Fran.... I wonder what the NFL's fashion gestapo says about this, Dikkka's hybrid approach.
  2. <Liverpool accent> Eight days a week... </Liverpool accent>
  3. Tags: 'Tom Landry who?' So much for suits and ties making a comeback.... I guess they want everyone to go grunge or be assimilated to the NFL collective. Someone tell Jim Kelly not to wear his yellow blazer anymore.
  4. Relative who is an ACO has had several cases like this over the years, and there are actual laws on the books that fowl can go wherever they want and vehicles have to stop for them. If they're hit, the owners can sue for the cost of the bird and for calculated earnings from what they would have produced in their lifespan. I've never looked at the California statutes, but I'd wager the deputy is in the wrong (and it probably is payback for the people complaining). Farmers wrote most of the laws in this country having to do with this stuff.
  5. How can he improve on how people view him? He could suck less. As you mentioned, I only know of him in connection to the soft money issue. From the sounds of it, he is nearly the candidate John Kerry was at times trying to portray himself to be. Unless he vastly increases his profile and has a stellar showing in the prelim debates where a lot of what the write-up says on him, he doesn't have a snowball's chance. Many in the party are saying the Dems will try to run an established governor rather than yet another Senator. I don't know who that'd be right now, but it's a long time b/w here and there.
  6. Walking across the stage was one of the proudest days of my life. Good for Andre!
  7. Well, how about a "LOST" theme? The Beach Bums, the Cave Dwellers, The Others, The Lostzillas.... A "Desperate Housewives" theme gives a lot of options for dirty minds, tho....
  8. The pols said much worse things than 'loser' about Bill & Hill when their National Health Care wet dream went nowhere. SS Privitization seems to be going down the same road. You get what you give, which holds the same for how you treat people anywhere. We don't need name-calling right now tho. Reid has always been that way and it's why he backed into the leadership spot that no one else really wanted and for good reason.
  9. Yeah. I'm sure teams will be lined up for a guy who can only be bothered to get his head out of his butt in a contract year. Parrish, barring injury, will take over the slot. Reed will be lucky if he doesn't get a visit from the Turk.
  10. Soldiers, veterans, and their offspring should be given free reign to tailgate, pass on the right while going 90 mph, and flip the bird to the offending driver doing the speed limit. They should never have to wait in the checkout line at the supermarket; there should be a special rule where they can cut in front of 20 carts and then when the cashier is done, and tell her they're going to slap her and that she can go Eff herself. It sucks when you miss out on a call from a loved one fighting overseas. I know from experience. Doesn't give anyone the right to be above the rules and it certainly doesn’t give him the right to cuss people out or be physically threatening. I didn't really agree with the original 10 days either, which seemed a little harsh. But he is at fault here for not at least explaining the situation so he would likely get a special dispensation from the person in charge. But no, only, "I'm 17 years old, and I'll do what I want to do." Compelling argument there, junior!
  11. A 10-day suspension seems a little harsh for that, but that's on the school's admin. Personal responsibility is the cat's meow for a lot of people until such time as someone should exercise it. When my brother was in Bosnia in '96 and called at odd hours. Sometimes you have to say, "Love ya. Take care of yourself, we're all thinking of you" and then send a care package the next day to make up for it. Sucks, yeah, but they're rules. If I show up late for work and there's no cashier for 30 minutes, however good the excuse was, I'd expect to be severely repremanded or fired.
  12. Merci beaucoup, guys. Saw the new preview several times tonight. Walt is adament that Locke not open the hatch. I think there was a hatch-like thing in that Flash/Green Lantern/polar bear comic book. I've read about it before that someone was being poisioned by someone else, and there was Michael yarking his breakfast.... We'll find out a little bit more about Kate on Wed. as she's the flashback subject. I've harbored some serious doubt about her criminal status, thinking she's in a triple- or quadruple-agent or something. Maybe they'll shed some light on it before the end of the season.
  13. Link. Doesn't look like a back-breaker (sh--!), especially given that the cap will be going up b/c of the new TV deals.
  14. Apparently someone managed to get hold of some call sheets from the finale episode. Not much there as far as spoilers, just an interesting peek into the intricacy of shooting, logistics, etc. Front. Back. Did anyone watch the special on 20/20 last night? Forgot all about it, myself. Well, that and I was pouring rum and Cokes half the night....
  15. Wow. A bargain considering Peyton's $99M over 7 years and a $34M signing bonus. And say what you want about Brady's abilities, but he's the one with the rings....
  16. Warner Bros. told someone who enquired about this that they have "put it in their vault" (a la Disney). Maybe they're going to do a special Richard Pryor package or something in the future.... "How's it hanging?" was the only line I remember.
  17. DT was paralyzed and died 16 days after being thrown from his SUV. Another person not wearing a seatbelt also died. The one person in the passenger seat who was wearing their seatbelt walked away from the crash. A jury rejected that his death was a direct result of the rollover, proving that 12 people still have common sense.
  18. There's a reason that linemen wear the big, bulky ones like that. And they don't prevent injuries, especially when it's 'Kill the Man With the Ball.' Drew wore the one that looked like the monster of Frankenstein's neck w/ the metal phlanges, on both knees. We all know his biggest weakness. Like Corp wrote, Willis will do what he does, and I highly doubt it's with something that looks like a RoboCop costume. Apparently, Willis agrees.
  19. I can appreciate Walt Whitman writing "I Can Hear America Singing" where he extols the importance of every honest job in America. Sorry, EIL, Hillary Clinton wasn't hanging out at Walden Pond. And I also don't see it as an accident or like Lott's brain fart. Just like when Bill went to Jesse Jackson's rally and called out "Sista Solja" for her lyrics (well, I don't blame Bill for this, she, JJ and his Rainbow-Push group that he uses to steal millions from blacks in this country suck). He then started talking about welfare reform (again, not that I disagreed with it). He was pandering to a certain element of the right, to get rightists to say "Hey, he's not a liberal liberal. I could possibly vote for him." Purely a political move, just as Bill's hanging out w/ the Republicans is. As I've said before, the Clintons are no friends of the Democrats, especially not the part that is conservative Democrat which is the future of the party. The Clintons take from among some of the worst ideas both parties have to offer.
  20. I think they're worn more for sympathy / cop-out than anything else. I don't think Willis needs to jump up and down, hands waving in the air, to remind people that he's had a knee injury. They keep the knee warm, yeah, but they're also sweaty and itchy. But the inner workings of the knee will do what they do regardless of whether it's in a quarter-inch neoprene lining.
  21. Meanwhile, a girl in R.I. is up for 10-15 years, (last I heard) of hard time for hitting an elderly woman while impaired. The trial is a formality. Ain't it great to be a celebrity? No matter how much coke you snort, no matter how many times you have sex with prostitutes, no matter how many times you rape women, kill someone or molest little boys, there will be people, especially judges it seems, who will give you one more last chance.
  22. The equipment manager has a side job as a pimp? Is it like a true b----slap? Or our very own Jim Kelly, who used to make himself throw up before each game. A kid on our track team would always drop a deuce exactly ten minutes before he ran. This is a guy who voluntarily goes on a field to take and deliver blows that would leave many of us limping or making a visit to the hospital. There's a measure of crazy for anyone who'll do that. Whatever it takes, man.... Whatever it takes.
  23. I don't know that it reduces politics, just that it makes it more fractured. Would think it creates more scenarios of 'if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours,' making and breaking alliances like Survivor. And here, it would likely result in more pork barrel spending than we already have. Re-election largely depends on what/how much a member of congress brings back to their district in federal funds. Shouldn't be like that, but it is. You take any third party --- the Greens, Libertarians, Constitutionals, etc. --- and they will become as wrapped up in it as the Dems and Reps, if not more b/c they would have such a small bloc and sh-- for leverage. Blair's seat is pretty hot. Word is going around that he might not finish his term, maybe 2 years, and will hand the reigns to his finance minister. Labor paid dearly.
  24. Link Thingy. Probably not a sexual harrassment defense tho....
