  1. And for afterwards.... That seat looks just wide enough to give one an atomic wedgie.
  2. Like I said, RL's problems are much more power-related than they have to do with 'accuracy.' As I think back, most of his missed kicks were generally on target; they just either didn't reach or didn't have enough speed/velocity/oompf in them to be in the right spot when they should have. If this game and the coaches' reports are any indication, it sounds like he improved his leg strength or tweaked his kicking technique to get that extra oompf.
  3. Is that actually what they did; interview to get 12 people who know nothing about MJ? If so, the prosecution was as dumb as they looked, and people are bending over backward and twisting like a pretzel in the definition of a fair trial. Serving as a juror should not require that you live under a rock or never read or watch the news, just that you have an open mind based on the evidence that is presented during the trial. I'm just wondering if this (and their actual juror votes, which is pretty sick) isn't a ploy to sell their books. 'Oh! Now I think he was guilty! I was bamboozled!' Pretty much every other juror tell-all angle has been tapped.
  4. 68. "My old girlfriend, Mary, was so beautiful. She looked kind of like you. I used to bring her here all the time.... Do you mind if I call you Mary?"
  5. 69. "Wow, you're a cool lady!........... Wanna 69?" (Oh, come on. You knew it was coming.)
  6. 70. "No, I don't have a job. I live in the basement and I'm building an exact replica of the flying saucer that landed in the backyard three years ago. When I'm not looking at online porn, that is."
  7. Why don't you want touchbacks? On punts, that's correct. On KOs, that was actually one of the selling points for Mike Nugent, besides his clutch FGs, b/c he could boom them right through the end zone sometimes. Why would you not want your opponent starting at the 20 every time compared to the average KO return yardage of what, 21-23 yards? Nevermind that it saves your STs from injury or prevent the 'Music City Forward Lateral Miracle' from ever happening.
  8. 91. If it's snowing the night of the date, do NOT rush outside to pee your name in the snow.
  9. Word is that he was at the Ravens-Falcons game last night. Link He's back in camp on 17 August, but I really don't see how his antics (and his antics to come) have inspired confidence from his teammates and QB. More or less, he's burned all of his bridges in Philly. And most other teams probably don't want to deal with his big contract and more importantly, his schtick.
  10. The NFL GameBook has RL's kickoffs listed as getting to the 5, 1, -2, and 4 yard lines. Vouchsafe that this is better than his KOs last year that made it to the 10 on a good kick. His problem the past two seasons have been more power-related than accuracy. So this is a good sign. The question is, Can he take this into the season? Or maybe he stopped using this craptacular kicking tee. What the company claims as the 17" advantage can bootstrap you when there's a human there holding the ball 11" away and he's usually hunched over the ball.
  11. I don't see why this can't be done for 2 minutes per week. Hey! Let's call it the "Two Minutes Hate." Orwellian society indeed. Here's your Victory Gin, guys. Drink up!
  12. I think you're thinking of Drew Henson, who started 8 games there, yet received a lot of hype and is now battling for the backup job to Bledsoe in Big D. Brady started 24 games after being behind Greise and Henson in the bulk of his first two years. Not so disimilar to how J.P. was behind Ramsey in his first two years at Tulane. Haven't heard anything on the local channels about Brady's injury. Belichick's mum on most things, but it is nice that he's not getting time in at OC (he's taking on Weis' job this year, right?) w/ Brady out there. IMO, BB finally bit off more than he'll be able to chew.
  13. For the only positions that are determined by a nation-wide election rather than by states, districts or cities/towns, I'd be all right with it just for Pres/VP primaries. If states want to do their other ones on a different day, that's their prerogative. As it stands now, voters in states like NH and Iowa with super-early primaries have a much more powerful vote than you or I.
  14. I know this is going to shock you, but I am a registered Republican. Pretty much for the same fiscal reasons, and also extending to the local level. That is, until the Republican caucus a few weeks ago when they decided to nominate the Dem first selectman for the Rep ticket(!), after he raised the town budget by 15% and pushed it through after FIVE cherry-picking referendums, finally settling at a 10% increase, the last one held on a non-traditional voting day. Despite all the guff and fire and brimstone, they are no different spending-wise, so for the last few national elections, I've voted Dem simply b/c they're not forcing social/religious ideology on everyone and allow people to make their own choices. I too, have been mulling for the past few years whether to go Independent. Our primaries don't really make a damn of difference, so that makes it a little easier. What we really need in this country is one set primary day in, say, late July or early August, where every state votes at once b/c a few states have most of the influence in determining who runs and who has to drop out. Leading to those few states getting undo attention and future spending promises.
  15. Every year when the injury bugs start to bite (e.g. Grossman) people, be they sportswriters or us mere plebians, start in on shortening the preseason. Then when it's all hashed out for the 15th time in as many years, things don't change much b/c people who actually deal w/ the minutia know that's how it is and know that's how it needs to be to evaluate players and work out the kinks before the games start to matter. If you want to be a fan of a sport where no one ever gets hurt, watch ping-pong. The Chinese teams are amazing!
  16. I would add respect for your teammates and the ability to check your ego at the locker room door. None of which Terrel understands. He never grew out of the Me-Me-Me phase; but when people fall all over themselves to wipe your @ss for you all your life b/c you can run fast and catch an air-filled ball....
  17. Maybe people shouldn't be making demands and telling him how to grieve. Some people prefer to be distracted by doing other things/projects. Jim seems to be that kind of person, if you read that article by our very own ChevyVanMiller.... Now, if he was whooping and hollering and drinking and smoking, that could be seen as uncouth, but simply being there and trying to muddle through this period isn't a crime. (It would be different if it had happened to one of his girls? )
  18. Septic can be a couple-few to several thousand depending on the design. Wells vary according to how deep it's necessary to drill. Likely ranges from a few to several thousand. Add in the cost of a water treatment system. I've been around the area and in my experience, WNY water sucks. Very high sulphur content. Summers spent haying there on my grandparents' farm, I had to have iced tea mix just to get it down the gullet, even when your tongue is wagging in severely dehydrating activity like that. Then again, everyone always says everyone else's water tastes different. The best water I've ever had came from a spring off of a back road in the woods of Maine. All the best in moving back.
  19. Have always respected Lou's abilities as a HC, getting his players graduated, and giving all of the players a chance. That 39-y.o. WR last year was at SC. His son Skip (who I think became a co-ordinator for his dad there) was our HC in the few seasons leading up to the transition phase from I-AA to I-A. It was basically his name that garnered the team some respect and recruiting, and put the works in for the new stadium and then joining the Big East. I think he did really well at building the foundation that Randy Edsall has built up from nicely. They've been a positive force in college football.
  20. If anyone's watching it on Channel 5 out of Boston, just when you thought Randy Cross couldn't possibly look any more of a butt:pirate:, he went and grew a moustache. Cassel actually looked pretty darned good in the 2nd string....
  21. I was usually impressed with Netanyahu when he was PM. He was a no-nonsense, it's-got -to-be-like-this leader. If the best course was the status quo, that's what he did. No huff and bravado, then following thru on an idiot plan just to be able to say you're doing something like Sharon has done. If they pull out of Gaza, that gov't is going to be under attack from both sides, Palestinians who'll want ever more, more, more and average Israelis pissed at the concessions.
  22. This is another great thing about Wacka. He's always quick to point out where the Dems need to completely change their platform. So helpful! "You need to wear Old Spice Regular scent deodorant, not the Powder Fresh. That's why you're losing seats!"
  23. There are several GOP senators who have been quoted that if stories of his work on the gay-rights case is correct (and it is), they will not vote to confirm. From an AP article: I try not to "read into" people's posts. I read what the words say. Reading into things brings in your opinion of what the other person is not saying, so that when you respond to them, you're just responding to your own opinion. It must be exhausting to go thru life like this. RG said the announcement was done in such a way as to promote a positive image, even on a subliminal/unconcious level, for a certain core constituency. I don't doubt it.
  24. You've obviously never heard Don Cricque and Jerry Glanville calling Patriettes' preseason games. You tell yourself to watch it b/c it's football after 6 months w/o, and to scout the enemy.... but they make it damn hard not to want to rip the TV off of the wall and scream, "Shut up! Just shut up!"
