[Entertainment] LOST discussion thread

That's exactly what I did too. But I first watched the scene in Exodus Part I where Sawyer tells Jack about his run-in with his father. I think that was the best scene of the season b/c of JH's delivery, followed closely by "I Never." -

JH says he thinks he got the part b/c he kicked a chair when he couldn't remember his lines. Right after he did, he remembered them and continued. The casting people liked his demeanor pertaining to the character, and I would say this was excellently cast. It was written for him to be that Buffalo character until they were shooting the pilot. Josh was talking w/o his accent, which probably seemed unnatural for him, and JJ Abrams suggested that he just speak regularly. The character's story was tweaked a little and there you go. If you look through the casting stories, there's a lot of instances of the writers writing around the actors. Finished w/ my first viewing. I may need to loan them to my sister-in-law (who hasn't watched b/c of schedule) to get her hooked too. -
I was thinking he looks like Hurley on "LOST."

I knew a couple of people who played in the band through the season and the payoff at the NCAA tourneys. Lots of hard work when you could be studying or meeting hot college girls, but that moment when you're representing your school... all kinds of endorphins, man!

Lana, the season starts 21 September at 9 p.m. Watching Deux en Machina (Yup, I’m that far already) and some of the things that were originally discussed about Locke knowing/choosing to sacrifice Boone are more apparent. And then there’s a part of me that still is blaming the island for it. Locke didn’t choose to stop being able to walk when they got to the plane, he was just unable to walk. Not being an apologist for him, b/c it was his choice to continue and do the island’s bidding. It was at this point in the plane where Boone’s use to him was over. And I also think this is where the heroin kicks into the plot. What is the first thing Locke thinks when he sees heroin? Charlie. It’s the island’s way of telling him where to go next. We don’t see them together in the finale, I don’t think, but there is the part where Charlie picked up the statue. I wouldn’t be surprised, at the start of the season, to see Locke start glomming on him next, making use of his helping him earlier and Charlie’s religious beliefs (despite his not be able to live up to them) as a hook into the destiny/fate thing. -
What happened to Borenbos this year??
UConn James replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pete Metzelaars used to do the LS while he was here, and Dorenbos is bigger than him, I'm sure. Tho, the DL are probably bigger now, too. Dorenbos had a pretty sad life story, but he's a hell of a magician. He actually took a big paycut to sign with the Bills than what he would make in the showrooms in Vegas. Too bad he could never make the ball disappear then reappear in the end zone. Good luck to him. -
Didn't know he and the missus were into S&M.

Link Whose sig line goes something like "The thing reformers won't tell you is that the re-formation might be worse." And for all of those here who champion third-parties, here's yet more proof to the pile that having another party won't matter as long as the people who helm them down to the people who lick envelopes, suck. This thought process just results in a fractured political system and eventually, a 10-foot ballot paper like South Africa. Someone I know was talking the other day about making "None of the Above" a countable vote in elections. I asked where I can sign up.

You'll understand the joke when you see it. Have been watching the eps and night and there are things you pick up on watching them back-to-back that you don't even notice weekly. - The voice that says, "Previously on Lost" at the start of the episodes sounds really similar to the voice counting the iterations b/w Danielle's message, which she said The Others are controlling now. - Also, never got that Sayid left b/c he felt ashamed that he'd tortured someone and didn't plan on going back until after he found the cable and met Danielle. - A lot of the episodes start with an extreme close-up of the centric character's eye. This is a technique that sets up POV narrative (I took an intro film class), but it's a little detail I completely missed. -
Jesus and Satan have a discussion as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God as the judge. They sit themselves at their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen, for several hours straight. A few minutes before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, but the Devil is too shocked to do anything while Jesus calmly taps a few keys before God announces that the contest is over. He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, "I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out." "Very well, then," says God, "let us see if Jesus fared any better." Jesus enters a command, and the screen comes to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers. Satan is astonished. He stutters, "B-b-but how? I lost everything, yet Jesus' program is intact. How did he do it?" God smiles all-knowingly and says, "Jesus saves."

Got Season 1 today. Currently watching the Extras DVD and it's sweet. Explains some of the genesis of the show, the shooting of the pilot and the details of the plane props, audition tapes (Hurley as Sawyer was just odd, but JG's comedic delivery still shines through --- "....... You went to Vassar?"). The monster is revealed at 1:32:00 on the top feature of the Extras DVD . Some deleted scenes. The eps are in widescreen and, myself having just a rooftop antenna, having it crystal clear is awesome. I'm going to try 4-8-15-16-23-42 to see if there's any easter eggs.... -
Just keep the FSU helmets away from his knees.

Yaknow, guys, to make it a little better, I'd suggest that the loser has to use the winner's avatar for the week. Yeah? A picture is worth a thousand tears.

Picturing that in my mind, Paris Hilton would sue for appropriation of her likeness. And win. -

"Busses" actually means "kisses." I always smirk when I see that on street signs. -
Don't you already know that 90 percent of everything is just showing up with your shoes tied and having great hair? I agree that it does seem to be a little backhanded to have a CJ who is relatively new to the scene rather than a justice who has served on the court for a while. If SDO had stayed on, I think she might have been nominated, but I'm not complaining that Scalia or Thomas weren't or were much less of an option b/c of their divisiveness. I would take Roberts over them; he seems to be more composed and similar in his nature and personality to WR. But with the new spot to be filled, look for a more hardcore "conservative" nomination since Pres. Bush already picked his "moderate." He's shown in many of his decisions and nominations that he's not afraid to engage and (unwittingly?) fuel the partisan fights.

Shown also in the condition of the bathrooms in the Superdome on Tuesday. Soiled diapers all over the floor, toilet stalls that were just covered in brown.... Guess someone never taught them to try to sh-- in the toilet or to put trash in the can, or barring that, pile it in a corner instead of where you need to walk. I understand a hurricane wiped things out, but this is basic sanitation for the place you're staying. There is a difference b/w giving people a leg up when they need it, and giving an able-bodied but weak-minded person a wheelchair. Unfortunately, these groups are often lumped together in the public conciousness and when spending cuts come, they usually most affects those who use the help for good rather than those who make their living off of it. As far as releasing the prisoners, that's in the social contract upon which this country is founded. The State puts people in prison on behalf of the People and it's something that if you're going to take away people's liberty, you have to pay for it. At such time as the State cannot hold them with the resources at hand, or their lives are in jeopardy from natural disaster, they are set free to try and live, as they were not handed death sentences; it's kind of along the lines of 'Better to let an innocent man go free...." Sucks that they're out and have committed more crimes, and there is part of everyone that reasons, Why not just let them die in the prison? when we hear about the stuff that happened. Still, we are a nation of laws. They will eventually be rounded up as things get more closely back to order or they will likely recidivate.

Maybe he peed in TD's coffee. Ross does play with a "mean streak," yaknow.

It's in the common lexicon. You've seriously never heard or seen this phrasing? I remember it being in Garfield all the time e.g. "You don't know from sarcasm, pal!" -

<trumpet> Oh when the saints... go marching in... Oh when the saints go marching in! </trumpet> Don't know about the feasibility of that. Every team besides the Globetrotters needs a home base. No one wants to live on the road the entire season. Not to mention schedule-wise, for both the paper schedule and scheduling an actual place to play the games, as lots of venues are tightly booked. Eight teams would have an extra home game per season, three in the NFC-S. Not really fair to everyone else, add into that, not as much ticket/luxury box $ for the Saints. -

Does/Did the Charlotte Hornets logo fit when they moved to NO (and now, who knows where they go; kind of the gypsies of the NBA) or the Jazz fit in Utah? I know LA isn't French-ish Cajun, and it's certainly up to the owner, but I would want to see it kept in tribute. Where does the big Mardi Gras go with the whole diaspora going on -- there's not one set place where everyone is going to. Despite all the troublesome goings-on with that, I think quite a few cities would clamor for that kind of economic draw and "rebuild" NO's image, or maybe just the whole of Bourbon Street. -

And especially b/c the name "Saints" fits right in for the "City of Angels" (in name only). No need to re-name, re-design uniforms, etc.... I don't see this happening this year tho, until/unless there is a solid determination by the powers that be that NO will not be rebuilt or rebuilt to the previous size. Based on what the reality will likely be, a move to LA would be the best business decision the Saints owner could make. Only hang-up would be if they insisted on a new stadium, rather than using the Coliseum, to move there. Not something the city or state can handle. -

Why is Coy Wire Still Here?
UConn James replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BB, every roster move is done for a specific reason and there is a method to the madness, it's just hard for a lot of us to see what MM and TD are envisioning. But CW, other than being able to say you have a backup with starting experience (even tho it's largely craptacular experience)... I don't for the life of me understand why this guy is still here. -
Didn't agree with some of his rulings, but he was a quality justice who adamently argued for what he thought were the proper decisions. How he comported himself through his career and the pride he took in his work is something we're fast losing in America.
