What you can't really tell is what manner of "illness" was/is being talked about by Danielle, Desmond, et al. When Rousseau captured Sayid, I got the impression that it was more of a mental illness that caused her co-survivors to go crazy (basically, the classification that a lot of us were/are putting Locke in), so she was forced to shoot them. You're talking about a physical manifestation. Which would certainly fit in with Desmond injecting himself. Which one is it? And why would Danielle shoot someone just b/c they're sick? Do we go around shooting everyone with AIDS rationalizing that this will now make everyone who's not infected, safe? What kind of an illness is it? Which I'm assuming that no one here should be expected to have an answer to.

I suppose it's good warm-up stretching for later in the season when they move on to the reach-around.

From Mr. Clutch's blog: So I guess it can be said that Desmond is waiting for Walt, who would be the one who'd know the riddle (He read the cards w/ Michael). I totally missed Desmond at the goodbye scene. This is a show specifically designed for TiVo. Leaves those of us w/ antique over-air antennas out of the loop on the fine details until the DVDs come out.

And she stuffed a whole bunch in her back pockets. Apparently she wasn't thinking of what chocolate does against body, as these are not M&Ms. And she put them in the worst of spots for that occurance and subsequent public opinion. And moreso when she was almost shot by Desmond when she was in the vent. That's something how after 2 eps, we're at the same point in time as the end of the first. I guess that's how they're going to slow this series down so it can last for a couple more seasons.

More like Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil. And then we'll be shocked --- SHOCKED! --- when that evil bites us in the ass in the form of avian flu, etc. when someone who's uninsured doesn't go to the hospital, infects 20 people, those people infect 400 people,.... Health care is a public concern and I would argue it is a national security concern.

How about when the poison oak is weepy pustules over 50 percent of your body including the uhhh... nether regions? For an $18 face value steroid Rx, it started to reduce them in two days. Too bad the office visit of the two minutes it took to write on a piece of paper cost $150.

I had one of those that I got for 6 months after I graduated, with a $250 deductible. Had a moderately serious situation and it covered about $100 of a $1,500 bill at a time when I was really stretched thin. All of the news stories and people make all of these claims about 40 million w/o health insurance. I ask What about those likely 50 million others with insurance-in-name-only? Do you want to sit on the toilet seat at Wal-Mart right after Harry Strangeass and think that one-ply seat cover is going to protect you from his bacterial-infection ass sores, and one or both you go untreated b/c you don't have health insurance?

Didn't mean to imply anything about Desmond being connected with the space program, just that his living situation is reminicent of someone in the ISS. Interesting stuff with the logo. I'm sure someone will come up with a screen capture.... I didn't get a very good look at it.

What always gets me is how some people take their position in the microcosm and apply it to the macrocosm. In the big picture, does it really matter who pays for it? Our country is a collection of things being done, decisions being made that all add up to whatever equation you're looking into... GDP, GNP, etc. Say what you want about the evils of a nationalized health care system (and I'm not talking about the Hilary plan b/c that was a lot of kak), but I've talked with lots of doctors who say it would make the system much easier and cut out the middleman insurance companies that drive their costs ever skyward (they say it can't keep going on like this, and that the supposed fixes proposed by the administration about capping lawsuits haven't fixed anything). And it would also make our country stronger. Whatever the answers are, no one in Congress is coming up with anything. When I had to go to a clinic this past summer w/ poison oak/sumac to get an Rx.... the problem of 40 million people hits home. Add into that all of the people who have bare-bones, in-name-only health coverage. Add into that that health care is becoming more and more an issue of public importance. AIDS, airborne viruses, SARS, West Nile, weird bacterial infections that are happening at an exponential rate now, etc., etc. All of these with easy transmission and getting it isn't always your own fault, but Bill K. Public is left to pay for it or go without and infect everyone else.

Hmm. But if the survivors from the tail section were captured by the Others, how could they have answered Boone's radio call?... But they could have been captured after that. Oh. And does anyone have the exact words that Desmond used as a code? That and the style of injection gun got me thinking Soviet espianage/listening post (Soviets were big on codes, and the fall of the USSR the reason why Desmond's relief never came?), but the writing on the food boxes was English. I was asking about the Apollo bars in terms of pop culture references. It also had me thinking how similar Desmond's existance is to someone on the ISS.

I didn't notice the logo on the shark. Is that serious? What does that logo say? I could make out 'CH...' but I don't have the greatest of reception. A line of thought on what Desmond is doing there depends on this. The "Are you him?" line and then the spy code sentence that Locke had no clue about.... sounds like Desmond was waiting on his relief who never came. The boots were Locke's. Any significance to the Apollo candy bars? Tonight, my dislike for Ms. Bovine Eyes was renewed. She could give Walt "anything he wants." Great. How about Michael getting to see his friggin' kid, b/c you sure didn't reproduce asexually, B word. Some people can only think of what fits into their own definition of what's best... for them (And guys, let me tell you, when you meet these people, stay away from them, and for damn sure don't marry them).

I don't know if anyone has the answer to that. Artificial lights apparently. But like Danielle said, you're asking 'Why' on this island? In the ER flashback scene, was the delay by Jack meant to show a conscious decision on his part to not treat the man b/c he thought it was the guy's fault? That confused hell out of me when Sarah says that she hit him.

Someone deserving of it? Hmm.... The groundskeepers? Actually, on second blush, I don't think that's such a bad idea. Maybe give those hardworking guys a little love too. There's more to the Bills organization than the players and coaches. I always like your wallpapers.

I wasn't stating that the Colts team was doing badly, just that compared to last year when they were lighting things up w/ 40 points a week and breaking Mawhino's TD record, the mighty sure have fallen. I don't know if this is just a byproduct of their own personel losses (OL if I remember right), or if offenses in general take a few weeks to establish themselves in the regular season, even great ones.

For people bemoaning the Bills offense, just take a look at how far the mighty Colts TD machine has fallen. At least we're on the way up (hopefully).

And since when is this 'payback'? I somehow doubt an entire grand jury is comprised of Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy Democrats. They indicted him b/c they've seen enough evidence of possible wrong-doing to warrant a trial.

Would it be possible to pin that accumulated LOST thread dating to last season? Then have a new thread for each week, and when that week is done, add it in to the pinned one? That would probably keep it a little cleaner around here. From the number of hits on that big thread, I would say that we have a lot of non-registered company who comes to read the LOST notes. Probably via Google searches or whatever. No problem, that's great for the sharing of information; what this whole Internet thingy is about. Six hours. As for the LOST party, I make from-scratch pizza every week. This week is even more from-scratch than usual. Tomato harvest the past two days, and I sauced them up, threw in some pepper, salt, basil, parsley.... Mmm. I discovered when using it last year that this stuff doesn't give me heartburn, so I started using the plain Hunt's tomato sauce (I used to use Ragu or whatever and it'd just kill me). French dough crust that I make in the bread maker. Mozzerella. Pepperoni.... I've gotten the routine down pat. And maybe I'll toss up a guava fruit salad to get a taste of the Lostaways' diet. Someone else bring the chips.

Volume 6: When You Really Needed To Go, Does It Really Matter Where You Shat?, by Najeh Davenport *ahem*

There was the guy who spoke, the blonde girl who apparently is Alex, and two goons, who were mostly hidden by the shadows. Their profiles and hair don't match. Besides, Desmond is in the hatch/bunker working out at roughly the same time that Walt is being taken, and he had just woken up. The timeline disallows it. Not to say that he's not one of that group; just that he wasn't there. I don't know about that, tho. They seemed to be similarly supplied, tho Desmond did have new things (boots, uniform etc.) while the boat toughs were wearing rags. I was a little put off by the beginning where they showed the close-up of Desmond's eye. They did that in pretty much every episode last season, as a means of establishing the POV and the centric (flashback) character for that ep. When it didn't really follow up on Desmond other than the short tourstadia scene with Jack, I was a little disappointed they didn't follow the POV; but I understand that they don't want to give too much away.

Hear, hear! I'm not about to quit after 15 years. We've been through worse than this, but if MM stays the course as he did last year (and if TD finally drafts FB, OL and DL), the future is a lot brighter. Well, that won't receive as much attention, nor attract as much flak. Most people will read the first two lines of a 100-paragraph post and say, "Eff it. I'm not reading all of this."

Crane is one of my favorite writers/literary journalists. I wrote a paper in an English class arguing that "The Open Boat" (which many see as highly fictionalized, me a quite a bit less so) was a fairly consistent continution of his newspaper account of the boat sinking off the coast of Florida. So much brilliance before he died at 28, I think it was. One crazy SOB, too.

Like how bharami went into meltdown last week after pouring the Kool-aid himself the week previous? Who's going to lose it this week? My money's on DIB, but that's only b/c of the mental stress of having to live among the 3-0 Dolfelons and their good-time-Charlie "fans." The Dalai Lama himself would go apesh-- in an environment like that.

She was a college football gopher and sideline reporter for ABC for the past few seasons. Nice. Looks like Michelle Tafoya is at home with some condition. I've never been one to condone losing your position due to injury, but for all of MNF's problems the past few years after losing Jill Arrington (), SR's a lot better looking and she knows football.
