  1. It's at about 35:00 into "White Rabbit." It's there, and it does look similar in the general shape but I don't know the worth of making some kind of link, as these were really faint, and there was nothing shown in the center. Looking at it again, someone could also make the argument that the Oceanic logo from a distance looks like it. And I began suspecting that I'm reading way too much into things when noticing that the scars had certain linear patterns to them; Kate had three horizontal cuts on her cheek. Jack had a pair of two diagonal cuts on each side. It was worthwhile looking back at the ep tho. It's the one where Jack definitively takes on his role as leader, and his Live Together, Die Alone speech. What really struck me was that in the premiere ep this season where Locke is going to go in the hatch, he makes the same kind of speech, with some of the same wording e.g. "not waiting around." But whereas Jack made his argument that they all needed to play a part into their collective survival, Locke was advocating an individualistic approach to doing things with 'You do what you want, I'm going to the hatch' thing.
  2. - - I think it spelled out, "Cluck Pou." - I dunno. No one really knew about it until they were getting it, or Hurley just told everyone, "There's not that much to go around, so we'll just have at it." There was enough for one guy eating three meals for 30 days, so for 40 people, there was enough for.... Anyone good at these things? And in that case, Desmond was getting very low on food. - I didn't have any expectations regarding that. Rose seemed very contented at the exact moment when Michael, Sawyer and Jin were finding out about him; something extrasensory about her, in a good way. How many are left in that group? Ana, the Nigerian guy, Bernard, and Drew Carey's girlfriend/crazy lady from "Guiding Light". What killed them? The Others or the sickness (if those are two seperate conditions)? - Well, for quick picks, I'd agree. For someone who actually filled out which numbers they wanted, it's probably more recognizable. The weird kid's reaction was just... weird. - See above post. - Again, . And Jack just stood there and said, "Hey."
  3. It didn't seem to be such an important episode in terms of plot. The most we found out was that Kate took a shower, and that Sayid and Jack couldn't find out much beyond Sayid saying he'd never heard of that much concrete being in one place besides Chrenobyl. (I've worked construction, dude. There's that much concrete in a lot/i] of places ). Hurley learned from his experience with winning the lotto that you've gotta spread the love. And to show that this is TV land, he got a date with a cute cashier girl. Jin speaking English was a dream sequence. Quel suprise.
  4. Maybe he should apply to the Vikings' team activity department.
  5. This all is really starting to reflect on/tie in with Locke's relationship with his "father." Locke went to the house --> good feeling that he was connecting with someone, and felt good about helping him out. Locke was used for his kidney --> positive response stimulus is removed when he sees his "father" booked from the hospital. Locke returns to the house and is rebuffed at the gate --> waiting to see if the response will continue if he just tries hard enough, Locke drives by and parks --> Over time, he knows there's no chance of getting the positive response anymore, but he engages in the stimulus anyway. And to show how much this has a hold on him, Locke even abandons Helen to go there. Jack shouldn't have pushed the button. And, what the hell is going on there that Hanso would put an Apocalypse device or whatever there, and if the code wasn't entered, BOOM? It's not possible that both people could die in a fall, a flesh-eating virus, or "some pissed off girafee"? That's one pretty sh--ty security system.
  6. Exactly, and it will only slow down for him with experience. I think a one or two game breather might be good for him to settle down. More than that.... And hey, that one time you were wrong, the mistake only came in that you thought you were wrong, but you were right.
  7. Seconded, especially WRT the last two paragraphs. The media has become accustomed to giving the squeaky wheels almost all of the press. As someone who has reservations about the necessity and future of the overall mission in Iraq (and this is an informed reservation), the qualm has never been with the soldiers who valiantly do what is asked of them and much more. They (and their needs) do not receive nearly enough attention.
  8. I think you just won the POST OF THE DAY award. For the posters who want to start KH the rest of the way to garner us a whole 4 or 5 wins, when JP has just as much a chance of doing that plus learning the game and becoming a potentially great QB, I want to just reach through my computer screen and choke the sh-- out of them.
  9. Are we watching the same video? Went nuts? He looked like a deer in the headlights. Lifting the officers up? They had his hands behind his back. What was he using, his third leg? The hopping you see is the officers were scrambling around him to get in position. Is this the same way Willis summons a run-blitzing CB to leave his feet and go helmet-to-helmet for a tackle? (The way the refs call our games, I wouldn't be surprised to see that call at some point).
  10. Always the clearest sign that nothing wrong is happening when the blue wall goes up. "Move on. Nothing happening here." When sh-- like this happens, it's not enough that someone in a suit smirks and says, "Sorry 'bout that."
  11. He's played too little to be estimated. Three and a half games and people here are ready to put him on the guillatine. Friggin unbelievable. Agreed on your last sentence. We've got people in there that can't define what kind of team they want to be.
  12. Instead, he's doing exactly as I predicted he would when he was signed. 'JP who? I'll be starting from now on.' He ran the same Mr. Innocent Supplanter scheme with Couch. I hope JP holds up better, but it's gotta be a shock when the team said it was his team this year thick and thin then pulled him after four friggin' games. He needs a sit-down for a couple of games. Reading that BN article, I think KH has other ideas, tho.
  13. Feast-or-famine rain in the NE isn't anything new. It would be nice if it came down an inch per week in the summer/fall, but it doesn't happen like that. New England is not Arizona. Vive le difference.
  14. <Jim Mora voice> PLAYOFFS??!?!!?? PLAYOFFS??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???? </Jim Mora voice>
  15. Let's face it. We are in the bottom tier of teams, and have been there for the past several seasons. The team I'd compare us with is the mid-to-late '90s Detroit Lions. Talent at a lot of positions, but for some reason it doesn't all come together.
  16. Happened last year as people were willing to stick with Bledose until he came up small vs. Pitt. m it'll happen this year as everyone's screaming to start Holcomb b/c he'll get us a guaranteed 5 wins (WOO HOO for mediocrity!!! ). It's called patience, something that NO ONE here has. Everyone expects the catepillar to instantly turn into the butterfly. Fully agree with the timeframe. If he doesn't get playing time at least the last half of the season, we'll be doing the same thing next season, and if we still have wishy-washy coaches and TC's craptacular playcalling, he will ride the pine again and either go Ryan-Leaf-crazy or oxidize or both. HE'S PLAYED FOUR EFFING GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Early on in the tape, when they have hhim against the building, the police horse was in the way and as it backed up, you could see the guy wide-eyed, probably thinking "WTF?" but otherwise nonagressive. And then the punching starts. The guy says he doesn't think, or at least hopes, it was not racially motivated. I don't think it was. But it was way overboard. The officers involved have been charged with "simple battery" so far; they should be charged with assault. Also, why is the thread title describe them as "corrupt"? Corruption in the common vernacular and especially in this sense, implies bribes, etc.
  18. Wouldn't be surprised if he would be able to appoint someone to oversee the team while he would stay hands-off for anything relating to them. Kind of like how many high-level pols put their stocks and such in a blind trust. I don't think he'd have to sell 51% or something like that. Holding office doesn't mean that you can't own a business. Just that there can't be any hoochie-koochie, and people with an interest are going to watch you pretty closely.
  19. If it's brown, flush it down. I don't even live in California, and I think of this every time I'm in the loo. That, and Oprah. The one time there was nothing else on and I was too sick (flu) to reach for the remote anyway, there was a doctor on saying that your "yellow" should be very light, and if it's a dark yellow, you're dehydrated. ----- Also in a preview was Kate taking a shower, apparently in Desmond's pad. Who wants to bet that Kate buddies up with Locke to enter the code? She does everything else that Jack says not to do, after she explicity says "I've got your back" and he never really gets upset about it.
  20. I would just like to point out all of those other times when we all "knew" that we'd blow out to the Jets and Vinny's 40-year-old, and then punch our TVs when they absolutely raped us. I speak distinctly to that pre-halftime Hail Mary.... then Chadwick's juke on ER.... then CM's big games last year. Seems every year we go in confident and come out with a big . I'm not even confident this year.
  21. Ramius, that's probably considered a spoiler as it contains at least some info on the fate of the characters. Not that anyone really thinks those characters will be bumped off or anything. But still. Yellow, bud.
  22. On the contrary, if it weren't true, I would've expected DB to be at the podium saying something like, "Obviously, we've* got to execute better at determining which end zone we're going to defend after the coin flip, obviously. Obviously." The fact that he never refuted the story speaks to itself. *"we've" meaning all 1 of the Buffalo Bills starting QBs.
  23. Not that I'm on board with it, but Drew did fairly tank the win-and-you're-in game vs. Pitt. Made sure to show everyone with the streak that he still had something, but came up small in a big game. Ensured that the coaches and TD were very disappointed in his performance. And even with something as small as choosing the opposite end zone they distinctly told him to, there was a battle of wills going on. If it is the case that he intentioanlly tanked his way out of town, I can't really blame Drew. He's in a great spot that highlights his strengths now, and he's away from people who were putting together a gumbo of one of everything that's in the fridge and hoping it tasted good. Which is the same thing they're doing now.
