  1. A Jersey wedding? Hope you've got a money tree in your back yard....
  2. Watch that game and you wonder what Charlie Weis would have done for the Bills. He took a lot of mediocre guys and installed a plan that highlights their strengths. To think that he wasn't hired b/c NFL assistants were in danger of all being hired away by the time he could get them, and/or he was asking for too much $. I've become soured on TD as much for this as for his lack of really building up the OL.
  3. The rain has now stopped and assessing some of the damage.... - The lake in my backyard is at the highest level the old-timers here have ever seen. - Lots of roads around that have just been washed away. Several dirt roads around here just got "gulley-whomped" to use one of the terms of an old weatherguy in CT; several hundred feet by about 20' in height are just gone. Lots of bridges are out. - My brother is a police officer in a town nearby. He called tonight and said there have been accidents up the wazoo. People driving through water, hydroplaning and crashing. He had to swim out to rescue a few people who were stupid enough to drive into deep water. - A guy died at a campground a couple of towns over (my dad has a site there and knew him) when the ground under his ATV collapsed. Tried to push it out of the hole and the ground gave way more and water poured in from a river nearby. Drowned trying to save a $1,000 ATV. I'm sorry, but that's Darwin at work right there. - Prediction of sustained winds from 25-40mph for the next couple of days. With all of the water making the ground soft, we're probably going to have a lot of downed trees. If you're in the affected area, stay inside and away from trees and branches! Fill up water bottles, b/c there's a good chance of the power going out.
  4. Watched the rerun of it tonight, and there's something pretty big that wasn't mentioned, and probably one of the bigger things from this filler ep. Claire found the bottle with all of their notes, and her and Shannon give it to Sun. So, those three, who had been featured in a big soliliquy scene in the finale around the boat launching, appear again, mostly w/o words. That it washed back up at least means there was trouble, and they know the likely scenario is that the boat failed and Jin, Sawyer, Michael and Walt are all dead. Sun takes the bottle and buries it in the sand. She's in grief, but doesn't want to ruin the hope of rescue that the raft meant to everyone, b/c if they knew what happened, it would just drain the desire to go on. Another thought on why the small group of survivors were so suspicious might be the handcuff on Jin's wrist. They probably figured if he was cuffed in the real world where there are enforced rules.... And I still hate Analucia. "B word!"
  5. My father has the same model. Excellent gun. It's got some kick when you first try it, but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. Many of the 9mm peashooters suck for stopping power, and a lot of police departments are finding that out; you shoot something with that .357 once and it's going down. Called him up b/c he knows everything and reads all of the gun mags cover to cover. He basically reiterated stuckincincy's post, a little confused by how it might wobble when in place. Said you probably should take it to the gunsmith and have him check it out. The vast majority of those guys won't play grabass and if there's nothing wrong, I doubt they'd charge you. And *ahem*, just to make sure, you'll need to buy a few boxes of ammo and test it out at the range. Any excuse you can get, man.
  6. Anybody see USC #39 walk up to the fumble scrum and grab a ND player's foot and twist it 180*? That's the most chicken thing I've ever seen on a football field. And if I'm the ND player, I'm waiting at the USC bus ready to kick his f---ing ass.
  7. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. ~10 seconds left with the clock ticking down, 3rd down, and the ST coach sent the FG team out there for a hurried kick. Snap at 1 second, kick is blocked, OSU returns for a TD and they're back in it just down 17-14 rather than 20-7. Wow. Wow. The MSU coach is pissed! And rightfully so. In other notes, for all of those OSU fans who would revel in saying MR. Teddy Ginn! the entire preseason.... He has been an absolute non-factor this year, probably by thinking he could skate through practices and anything like actual work. HANDS! HANDS!
  8. So let's get this straight. It's not that JP was playing badly. It's that other people were playing badly and that this was somehow his fault such that he was benched. In what world should a person get fired b/c their co-workers don't show up? Oh, that's right. In TD,MM&TC's world. (We are fast overtaking the Detroit Lions as the laughingstock of the NFL).
  9. Oh come on. Somebody's gotta bust your balls. Especially when you're trying to argue that Teague is a good center, or even adequate, and that TD has done a good job to bring guys in. Last I knew, we still have a few million in cap room. If he doesn't truely upgrade the OL in next offseason, it will be safe to say he's on par with Matt Millen for GM skills. Ooooo, WR!!! Shiny!!! To be fair, he can hit some of the high notes in Tishmingo(?) Blues.
  10. Simon lives in Lake Wobegone. Where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the OLmen... are above average.
  11. While watching "White Rabbit" yesterday, there was the scene right after Jack was hanging from the precipice and Locke pulls him up. They talk. Jack says he's seeing something that's not there (his father). Locke says he's got the same thing, but it really seemed to be the opposite problem in the previous episode "Walkabout" in the scene with him on the ground --- he couldn't see something that was there. Locke says to Jack, "What if this [invisible thing] is really here? .... Even if it is [impossible], let's say it's not." It's for this reason that I don't think we've seen the last of Jack's father. Locke doesn't know exactly what it is, but he does know, (or rather, believes --- his whole 'faith' kick) that something is there and making things happen. His visions, his ability to walk.... Manipulating everything, I doubt it, but the island's will/spirit/whatever is a variable that tries to guide things. On another note, maybe there is something to the initial scars that the main characters have. How Kate has three parallel cuts on her cheek. Jack has a pair of two diagonal cuts on either side of his face. Locke has the vertical slash on his left eye. Claire has one exactly on the cleft of her chin.... Going off of the slashes on the Dharma logo meaning fire, water, etc., I'm not sure the placement of them is entirely accidental.
  12. There was that line from Arzt in the finale, and he was a reflection of some of the fan criticism of what was happening, "Oh! And some of us have actually lost weight while we've been here." Maybe they had electrolysis? Shannon, definitely. I mean, really, Kate had to spend so much time on the run, you figure she might have the gumption one day to just say, "Okay. One-time 1 hour at the salon? Or 20 minutes of my precisous escape time a week?"
  13. If the definition of consistent is getting pushed back into DB's face most every play, I'd agree. When Tucker was in at C, and he was a backup, the O started clicking, Bledsoe had more time, and the running game hit a stride. Actually, CV was the best OLman last year. And after MW got on track in the last half, he was holding his own. The fact that TT was our third best OLman doesn't just suck, it's telling of the source of our problems the past 10 years.
  14. During several games of the stretch run, that's when Teague was injured and Tucker was starting at C. Also when we started to run block a lot better. Facts suck.
  15. No. If they were clinically insane, they would be directed to post on TBD. If this is it, I'd be severely disappointed. There's going to be something much more intricate than to say everyone's crazy. Hate to pop the balloon....
  16. You wanted the faults listed? How long can you manage to read in one sitting? Should this be broken up into 14 installments? For the Cliff's Notes version, one BIG problem with the OL that hasn't changed from last year (and any ability to fob off blame on DB's footwork, etc.) is the pressure that comes from the middle as Teague is blown back. Not to mention the several matador impressions he's given, while not even bothering to protect his QB (on one, as several Falcons were swarming JP, Teague actually started to run upfield, the %$#^ing kitty). Preston will be starting at C next year if there is any justice.
  17. Then there's the old maxim: When you have two quarterbacks, you don't have a quarterback.
  18. Well, that and security-paranoid. Directly referencing the small taps and swipe code that Ana used on the door. And I'm not normally like this toward women, but I want(ed) to see Sawyer bitchslap her. "Hit me again... and I'll kill you." Either that, or they'd make a cute couple. The list of Sawyer's injuries since coming to the island is about as long as his rap sheet.
  19. I took a picture frame down yesterday to vacuum behind it. That was something off the wall.
  20. Hey, I'm not going to rag on someone b/c he's sweeping his own doorstep toward our country becoming less gas-reliant and he's getting exercise to boot. And I don't judge people as being evil based on two-paragraph posts, when in the fullness of real life, they're probably a normal, nice person.
  21. Yup. When money is dangled before conservatives when natural disaster strikes, be it in La., Missouri farm flooding subsidies, and a thousand other examples, they don't take it. There aren't very many conservatives in this country, if you go by deeds rather than belief. Belief applies only to Other People.
  22. He was on "Pops Goes the Fourth" a few years back. There's a lot of aging singers who lose their edge. He's still got it.
  23. I live on a lake (has a dam runoff tho) and it's the highest it's ever been, and with whitecaps to boot. Want some help filling sandbags? Why not? All of the "conservatives" down South expect free money (And get it).
  24. I can't offer any help there. I don't watch very many movies in general and those came out when I was at the U and watched less than usual unless it was connected to something I was studying. But I would say that she's got a certain similarity to the old woman in "The Stand" (I do watch some Stephen King stuff) and that type of character. In the preview, they came across a body in the jungle with a spear in it. So I would guess that's an accurate reading.
