Doubtful they "glossed over" JP. NFL coaches live by the "assumption is the mother of all f----ups" credo. There is tape review, I'd say our opponents since the switch have focused on Holcomb, but they still probably give JP more of a slice of time than they do for most other backups. That figure sounds about right for first-team O snaps. Doesn't the backup generally run the scout team? I think that's probably helped JP. To mimick how the other team's QB plays and what their tendencies are. You often add some of the good stuff to your own repetoir.
-
How much do you think they game-planned for one vs. the other? With our special situation at QB, I'd guess 70-30. Still, a game-plan is a plan like any other and the best laid plans are often useless 5 minutes in. KC had halftime to make adjustments. How 'bout giving the kid some credit?

I think the ???s are probably in the case of a torn ACL, severe diahrrea, or the RJ classic "Questionable: Rear end." No matter what, barring injury, you mean. (The above was said immediately prior to knocking on all kinds of wood. Oak, maple, ash, pine....) -
Just go, and when it starts in, just say, "Sorry, I'm just not into white chicks right now."* This is what Amy Sederis used to do with guys who'd hit on her. *This only works if she's white, o' course. Probably wouldn't work to substitute any other things, or you get called the b-word.... Or you could change it to, "I'm only dating Italian girls right now" and go down your list.

We've got our solution. Put Holcomb's brain in JP's body. I've got Dr. Frankenstein on my speed dial.... Today showed that the struggles earlier weren't all JP, and that what issues he had, and has still (like a soft touch on short passes), aren't too much to overcome. Watching from the bench probably helped him realize that he needs to distribute the ball and not be afraid to go with short dink-and-dunk passes every so often to keep a D honest. This amount of time on the bench was probably opportune. If he's benched next week, it starts to be a detriment to him (see: Tim Couch). There will be some mistakes as he gets experience. I accepted this going into the season and I still accept it now. Time to find out what we've got rather than settling for mediocrity disguised by garbage-time-like comp/att ratios from Holcomb. -

Where is "God" Smith? -
Has been. Not exactly burning down the house with these 40-, 30-, and 20-yard receiving games. Eric Moulds should have been worried about Eric Moulds' play earlier this year. I think he spoke up b/c he doesn't like JP very much. He didn't work with JP in the offseason like Evans and Reed did; JP didn't look at him very often in his four games probably b/c he wasn't on the same page as Evans & Reed... and guys get resentful for that (e.g. "Just Gimme The Damn Ball"). If he wants to stay here with #s like he's putting up, he needs to take a BIG paycut. And I don't see his ego doing that. Roscoe is the Young Turk, as is TD's MO for replacing aging players.

(LAMP) - I saw Mike Mularkey tonight

Either that, or he chugged 2-liters of Pepsi to impress the guys during practice and really had to pee. -
Oh. And.... It might behoove everyone to remember that these first 6 weeks of the season comprise about two days on the island. Wouldn't be surprised if the whole season only takes up a couple-few weeks in island time. Don't make the mistake of applying real-time. Desmond hasn't been gone that long. It's been about 4 days since Claire had the baby (dead on about her losing the baby weight quickly), Charlie's gash on the head already has a smooth scab.... And thinking about that now, Charlie is acting so possessive of Claire and the baby b/c in his estimation, he's invested a lot in that relationship being their physical protector twice (Ethan, then Danielle), their Bjorn-maker, and their peanut butter purveyor. Then I've been thinking, the whole episode was Shannon taking proverbial shots to the stomach --- Her father died, her stepmother stole her inheritance money (think of "Sense and Sensibility" in this regard), accepted to a dream internship at perhaps the one thing she was apparently good at and couldn't go b/c stepmother bought off Boone (probably the only person she had left to trust) with the job, stepmother pushing her out of the house at her dad's wake.... To what her personality shifted to, how much can you blame her? A person can only take so much until it just becomes easier to be a stereotype, and then shut down. I've gotta hand it to the writers for their intricacy here. The shot (or stab) in the stomach at the end was merely a literal act of what had happened metaphorically in the flashbacks.

Yeah, he went somewhere to sleep for fuggin month. Sure as sh-- what I'd do after three years of 4-8-15-16-23-42 every 108 minutes.
-
To me, the "evasion from reality" is in seeing Holcomb as anything other than a below-average QB who is very long in the tooth by NFL standards. Losman was named the starter and only got to play FOUR fuggin' games. KH has better comp/att numbers... whoop-di-do. Hasn't produced any more scoring, which is what actually matters in this league. I'd rather play the guy with some upside; and find out what we've got this year rather than repeat this crap next season and turn one season wandering through thwe woods trying to find our QB into two, three, ....

That's just the way Sayid is. Same was he shot himself so Nadia could get away, why he fixed the computer when he didn't know what it was for, why he tinkers around with the radios, etc. He's trying to be useful. I'm a lot like that myself (minus the shooting myself in the groin part). On the island, a thinking person has to find some kind of project or something to do or you go crazy. I think we see a change in this. And whatever A-L did after the crash that we're going to be have next week, it doesn't do crapola about the fact she just shot Shannon. I don't think Sayid just lets it go after a few eps. He did that with Locke (even after Shannon told him "Locke killed my brother. Can you do something about that?") b/c he had no proof that Locke did it intentionally. Here, there's a smoking gun.

Is there some kind of guarantee that any oil gotten from ANWR will have to be used in the U.S.? If not, it's not a solution to our impending energy crisis; it simply gives companies the right to drill there and then sell it to Japan, etc. like we do now. I can see the points both sides make. I lean more toward the side where any production we will see isn't going to be for 10+ years. If alternative energies aren't fairly widely commercially available by then, then we really are pitiful and we'll deserve whatever happens (b/c much of the holdup will have been backroom politics). AD, it's desolate b/c it's supposed to be desolate. That's what a (p)reserve is.

In that episode, the guy's name was Rutherford. It had also been established that Shannon's father's name was Rutherford. This was guessed at last season, and solidified in the Jack-centric ep earlier this season.
-
I'd guess it's a two-hour show.
-
If you did that down in Florida, imagine how we did it up here in the Yukon/UConn.

Quite the marketing major you are. If given the choice, would you shop at a place called RA-LPH and all the throwing-up connotation, or simply Rich? Good call. Need Visual Inspectors, too.

I'd say that Sawyer would've B word-slapped her early on if he didn't have the whole bullet wound thing. Also, that she had the gun. She's not exactly an Island Favorite at this point, and usually in any story, a person who makes a mistake as big as that is dealt with. I would guess that A-L gets hers before too long. I wouldn't necessarily say that the whispers eminate from the Others. Way too speculative to say that.
-
The whispers question is something that goes back to last season. We really don't know where they come from. Voices of other apparitions like Walt? I thought Vincent ran off (well, the leash was dropped) shortly after Shannon gave him the shirt to smell. She stopped at Boone's grave. Vincent was gone. ----- There was just a "Lost Scene"/unaired segment on GMA. At Shannon's father's wake. Her and Boone's mother were cleaning up the pot luck stuff and there was beef stroganoff(?) that the mother was saying Ughh to. Shannon: My dad loved beef stroganoff. Mother: Well, he's not going to be eating it now. (awkward pause as the mother realizes she let it slip that she's a miserable B word) You know Shannon, I did love him. Shannon: So do I. Mother: I guess that's the one thing we have in common. Shannon: Yeah. Mother: So... when are you moving out? . So, I think we now see Shannon's manipulation in a much different light. The mother took/stole all of her father's money to start her own wedding business. She was pushing Shannon out of the house at her father's wake!

Who said that playing JP means giving up hope of the playoffs? Exactly what has Holcomb shown that makes him the second coming of Jim Kelly? If Tom Clements wasn't busy looking at his colon while running the ball on just 40 percent of the plays with a fuggin rookie QB, this whole thing never happens. Now that we're running on 60 percent, the O is plugging along (but still not scoring). Too much of TC' cutesy playcalling is what got JP out of the starting spot. So what happens now? Sounds like MM will put JP in at some point this year. Is he always going to be looking over his shoulder? This is the same scenario that Tim Couch went through in Cleveland, (with the same backup QB) and look how great that turned out. Sorry, but until further notice, we are now on par with the Cleveland Browns with reaching new heights of futility b/c of coaching.

Dave, are you sure this is OT? I mean, the ladies in the stands at the Ralph in December might surely appreciate this. In fact, we could have a whole "Save the Breasts at the Ralph" thread.

Said that after the first ep she was in this season. She's got a tough exterior and tries to say what she thinks a survivalist/most-good-for-the-most-people philosopher would say. Unfortunately, this means that she has officially crossed into animal ethics rather than being a human. And since most of the others in her section are so quiet (like how she told Eko, 'So now that you decide to speak so much, you go off to find him') she's the vocal minority. Eko would just have to say "Shut up" but he's too nice. A-L has a strategy of Save Yourself but in this situation it won't defeat the Others. Like Jack said in White Rabbit, there's a choice... Live together, die alone. The tail section died alone. There's going to be some recourse for this. It's not, "Oh well. You shot one of us. Have a good day." Looked like Sayid was ready for some revenge. And isn't that a kicker, (but it seems to be a pattern in his life). He just told Shannon he loves her, and BAM. Was also thinking about the Claire/Charlie/Locke scenes. Claire as the unprepared mother (b/c she didn't plan on keeping Aaron), but Charlie is judging her? Like Locke said, 'This, from a heroin addict?' Charlie: "Recovering addict." Locke didn't call him out on the statute (Doesn't Locke know that Charlie knows there's heroin in them? Pretty sure, but my Season 1 DVDs are w/ my brother so I can't check).
-
From the looks of it, Walt was trying to warn her to stay quiet. She didn't. Combine that with A-L's itchy trigger finger.... ----- So now we know why Shannon resorted to the manipulation to get money from Boone's mother. It was hers, rightfully. Boone's mother simply stole it to start her wedding company. "There was nothing specific like a will.... [so all the money is mine, mine, mine!!!]" Some people are just like that with money that by rights shouldn't be theirs but is. If Shannon dies, so does any chance of Jack finding out that the guy Sara hit and killed was her father.
-
Ana-Lucia, queen of the brusk-voice "This is how it's going to happen, b/c I say so." And then everyone does the exact opposite b/c A-L is a $%^&ing selfish B word. Then she thinks she's all that with the gun and she doesn't even know what she's shooting at. Looked like Shannon got a round in the stomach area.... but the other girl who went missing, is she the one "gone forever"? So, what exactly is A-L's role on the show? For anyone who watched the extras disc, Kate is the one described as "our [woman] hero." Not sure there's enough room for two, and A-L might be the anti-hero. From the looks of how she's introduced herself to the other group of survivors by killing one of them.... Never liked her from the get-go and I officially won't be saddened if/when the Others get her or Sayid goes Old Testament.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here... if it's an ancillary character again, I say it's Eko while trying to save someone in the group; if it's a major character, I say Jin. (But wouldn't it be a shocker if Shannon kills herself? She's had the whole depression thing going on since Boone and now she's seeing Walt's apparition....) No way Sawyer is killed off.
