It's a token rule anyway. This is all predicated on some belief that a team wouldn't hire the best guy because of a simple gene expression. I'm trying my best to imagine how someone could be so stupid and I still can't fathom any GM or owner saying, "Well, this guy's philosophy fits our system and players and will get us 2 more wins than X, but he's black, so let's just go with X."

Every time I've thought that, I never got a call back. Ironically, it was the two times I bombed on a question (One of which was "What makes you get up in the morning?" WTF kind of question is that?!? I almost said, "Usually because I have to pee.") that I got the jobs.

My brother (smartass police officer) had the same thing last month: "<Click!> Uhmmm.... A man in handcuffs? " Too bad that enough money on a judge's desk will get anyone off. Seen it happen.

Didn't work out too well for Jeff Buckley in the Wolf River off of Beale....

I was blinded by Michael Irvin's tie-knot. WTF was that? And shouldn't he be in jail or at least un-TV-able for the latest cocaine thing?

People on the Wall call me crazy for it, but I think we've got to pick up the best-rated FB, probably with one of the 3rd rounders, maybe the 4th. Who that would be is yet to be seen... Bernstein? And I'm telling you first... This Nick Hartigan kid out of Brown is an absolute gamer. They used him as a rusher (and he set the Ivy league record for TDs) but he can block too, and he's got a body-type kind of like Alstott. Bruiser. As much as OL has been the problem, in the late going it got more plain that Daimon Shelton was sitting on the couch on Sundays two years ago for a reason. The OG out of Minnesota looks interesting, but I'd wait to see how he does in the bowls and at the Combine, etc. His durability, tho, is something our OL has lacked for a long time. I'd want to see if Peters could play LT and give MW one final year at RT before declaring him a bust. That said, we need to draft a replacement/backup this year just in case. I'm comfortable with taking Ngata in the first and finding OT help (it's deeper this year than in the past few seasons) in the 2nd or one of the 3rds. Later on would be FS, CB and TE. But I tell you, those are fuggin' luxuries at this point.

Here's what the Bills should do now
UConn James replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ditto. Look what KH did to Tim Couch. Same damn situation is setting itself up here. Coincidence? I could give a sh-- that KH will point to his 24/30 120 yards as a reason he should have a chance. He's a quiet, no-talent supplanter. -
Watching the HS All-America game, and ND has commitments from 26 players, and if I heard right, 12 of them playing in this game. Including the highest-rated OT. Wow, we're going to see what Weis does now that he has a team of his own making. Seeing what he was able to get from that group this year.... ND is headed places.

Mabe a STFU Forum is needed for folks
UConn James replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mark, I like your turns of phrase (or is that your turn of phrases?), but this being the forum it is, I'm going to have to ask you to shut your trap. You talk too much. Same goes for the rest of you fruitcakes as well. I can't even hear myself think! Me, I'm always quiet. Except when I have to tell everyone to shut up. -

Tom Clements was fired because he wouldn't shut up. -

No one cares what polls say. Just 86 percent plus 13 percent of people to tell to shut up. I mean, could we keep it down in here, people? I'm trying to eat my lunch, and there's just all this jibber-jabber. -
"Input" does not mean "complete control." It means, "input." In backseat driver terms, Ralph will be saying at the start of the journey, "I think we should take Exit 35, then 88 North." Then sitting back and not yelling, "Watch out! There's a car 300 feet ahead!" or "Oooo, shiny! Stop the car!" I imagine that Marv would be the one advising MM to pump the brakes or to slow down a bit for the curve, b/c he's driven this road before.

i shouldn't joke about the aging process, but i'm
UConn James replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In all fairness, you don't usually get a staph infection from the doctor. Bacteria is all around and it's largely a matter of washing well and being very careful with cuts, wounds, etc.I had one last year and learned the hard way. Greg Lloyd had the same thing with his ankle. Can't expect the doctor to follow a guy around 24/7. -

Yaknow, on I-90 on the NYS Thruway, there's an overpass with a sign that says "Dyke Road." I keep forgetting to bring my camera when I go out to visit the relatives. And, by the by, that half of the family is from Holland. -

No, they're more in the Lenny and Carl role. Jerry Sullivan = Kent Brockman John Guy = Moe -

Really, Pat? In English, as the Bible was originally written? Did He use the split subject-verb form, too? Or are you just a #$%^monger in a suit? I hope you burst. -

Nor was she writing in a fake donation to them on her tax return. She's another one who thinks money is the be-all end-all. Sure not defending her b/c when you're in that business you should be expected to know about every dollar that comes in and every dollar that goes out. Watch Delay start his Sgt. Schultz impression. Our gov. in CT, Jodi Rell, is doing something revolutionary. She's not accepting money from corporations, PACs, swag fundraising, etc. Simply taking donations up to the legal limit from persons who so choose to contribute to her campaign. She's also been behind some legislation to make it a public financing with a very reasonably low cap to help remove big money-->corruption from this area. Maybe it's not the best strategy for her, but approval rating is at near 80 percent. I've met her at some NRA events and she seems like a straight shooter. Much better than Delay's ever-growing skeeve-fest. McCain-Feingold was the Dutch boy putting his finger in the dike. -
Did Ralph require MM to committ to JP
UConn James replied to hootie1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And by MM's version of getting JP "some experience" then we should have a "very good" QB by the middle of the 2011 season. -

An analogy: I have a septic system problem. I call someone who does work in this field. He says it needs to be replaced. They dig the trench really well. They have all the tools and materials assembled at the site. I go to work and come back to find the soil all back in place and the yard beautifully landscaped. But I go inside and the sh-- is backing up into the sink, toilet and shower b/c the pipes weren't connected. You're arguing that this person shouldn't be fired? Yes, TD did some things really right. But he did some things really wrong. -
Finally, will we cut the burg ties?
UConn James replied to buffalo mike2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Problem with our team is that since 2000, we've been trying to emulate/be some other team or an amalgum of such. Titans 46 defense and all the glory that was Eddie "I got juked out of my shoes by Chadwick Pennington" Robinson, Patriots via Drew and Milloy, Steelers coaches.... Even our friggin' uniforms show this. We've got the Titans' yoke, the Broncos' gusset stripe, the older-style Patriots' socks.... It's about time we reclaimed our own identity and do what we need to do, rather than what's worked for someone else. In that regard, it's nice to have Marv back in some oversight capacity. We need to decide a direction to go in and consistently build toward it rather than grab up on the Latest, Greatest Things and put them together and hope they work together well.
